Today we are building a mini street racer quad with a CR 125 two stroke dirt bike engine. the dirt bike engine makes around 36HP so this thing is going to be FAST! its definitely going to need a wheelie bar and some good brakes. I'm taking inspiration from an old project called the mini green atv that I built years ago. I want this mini street quad to be similar to it but much faster!

Never heard of them. But that could save some a lot of time than trying to make a CAD type drawing for like the CrossFire Pro from Langmuir. Pricing seems to be on par with a CrossFire Pro and looks like it can only cut smaller pieces by comparison.

I agree with slowing the steering for high speeds. Also, you can align the front with 1 to 2 degrees of toe in which slightly point the front wheels at each other. This will make it want to track straight and not dart around at speed.

Yea toe in seems like it would be worse, transferring weight to the tire that’s turned in even sharper when it begins to turn vs out. Air pressure may make a diff and just making sure fronts are aligned, the look towed out but may be the lens

For the plasma. If you don't like the pierce points in the final parts, than have an approach (lead-in) from the pierce point to the edge of part. Basically, start cutting a 1/4" away from part or inside hole.

If you want your gas tanks to be more round. Try cutting your material to the proper length to make the diameter tank you are wanting. Roll it a little tight and get it tacked together them without adjusting the roll put it back in the roll and run it around a few times. It will come out almost perfectly round for you. I used to build duct work like this for many years. To figure out how long your piece will need to be decide what diameter you want and add half a material thickness to that and then multiply by pi 3.14.

I think it will be fine with 1/4 inch of toe-in. Right now, it is toed-out and that makes it twitchy because the slightest turn of the bars puts the wheel on the inside of the turn turning sharp and the outside wheel going almost straight (fast turn). Toe in will force the kart straight unless the bars are turned enough for the inside wheel to go past center ... the outside wheel will push until the inside wheel passes center. Much safer on short wheelbase kart. P.S. Love your analogy. Made me picture a Sidewinder missile hose clamped to the side of his kart. Zoom Zoom!

How do I test my control module on my HEI distributor
@kevinsellsit5584
@kevinsellsit5584 Жыл бұрын
@@ildefonsoraydominguez6252 There are two terminals which exit the coil on top of the distributor. Use a 12V test light. Connect the clip end to any clean metal surface then touch the pointed end to battery + if it lights you have a good ground. Turn the key to the run position with everything plugged in check for power at the bat + terminal on the coil. it should light. Then test the "tach" side by having someone crank the engine while you hold the light ... it should blink very fast. If not replace module. If yes check for spark at the plugs and replace cap and rotor if necessary. Another common problem is the carbon tip that touches the rotor will fry. Remove coil cover, unbolt coil (key off) and look under the coil. There is a rubber washer and a carbon tip with a tiny spring on it. If the spring is crispy or has no spring left to it replace it. It can be purchased separately, or it comes with a coil and or the cap.

I agree with you right down the line in every point that you pointed out. like wearing the safety gear, it's a better to have a little road rash than to have a lot of road rash. and that the steering ratio is way too quick. you will have to lengthen the pivot points at the spindles. or shorten the pivot point at the the streering shaft or both. and the darting will require a proper toe in adjustment. however due to the extremely short wheelbase the steering is going to be a little bit different then other vehicles. but with the previous adjustments made it should be a lot easier to get used to. when you said it's terrifying that's a good thing. a person sould expect each build to be thrilling to ride.
@danandyong6653

Most wheelie bars have shocks in between adjustment zones so when the machine comes up fast there's not a sudden stop at full travel.. that also reduces the chance of rear wheels coming off the ground when full travel is reached. Also, your wheelie bars would need to be longer to use shocks, and reduce solid hits

Hello! Love your content so far and saw the steering issue. I think that toe-ing the tires in just a bit more would assist in your steering issue. Depending on the application, like off road, the tires will be toed out (That means the wall facing you is closer, and the furthest part of the tire is wider. Imagine a V with the point being you, and the tires parallel to the V). Or opposite. The reason you toe out is because you want more control and more finnesse in your steering, they tend to stay in a groove better. You toe in the front of the tires for control, as the tires naturally want to find the center of the vehicle and ride it out. I hope this helps, if not this project, then another!

Increase the steering arm length on your spindles will slow it down, Also looking at your tires on the front, either they are over inflated or severely under, the contact patch is about 2" wide and not even on both tires, Rear tires need a pressure check as well they are riding centred and not getting full patch.

its amazing and sounds great... but is little lean and with a 2 stroke is normal that it dies when cold in first gear. give a litle throttle after releasing
