Typically, with a shifter kart, you only ever use the clutch for coming to a complete stop, or leaving a stop in 1st gear - other wise you just let off the throttle real quick and snatch the next gear - clutchless! Also, get a very accurate tire pressure gauge and make sure both fronts are exactly the same as each other, (rears too) that can help if it pulls one way or other - if you have 32lbs in one front tire and 28 in the other it will pull like a monster one way- Your radiator looks kinda small, your rear sprocket is a few teeth small too? PUT FRONT BRAKES ON THIS THING (before you die) all real racing shifter karts have 3 disks and two master cyls

@Mad-Duk_Machine_Werkes

I got mine from a guy who used to race shifter and converted his Kart back to direct-drive two stroke 100cc class - you can buy them from just about any manufacturer part by part, new - but that would get pricey - you'll need two front calipers (they are very different from rears) a L & R spindle, the hubs and disk carriers, lines, and another master, then the block to link master #1 to master #2 - I had one with a remote adjustable knob in the steering wheel to change the Brake Bias front to rear (50/50, 60/40, etc) so as the tires warmed up you could crank way more onto the fronts and stop on a dime! Margay sells brake kits, Tony-Kart sells brake kits, Mine was a BUG Dragonfly, but by the time I was done it was a BUG 2000, specs

Builder ? Yes , your very good . Rider? Not so much... i can tell your scared of everything your on. Quit riding the clutch on take off. Mash it and go. And dont use the clutch to shift. Lift and shift at the same time. Keep it up in the powerband. Id bet you go 0 to 65 in a few seconds.
@esqueue
@esqueue 6 жыл бұрын
Let me try to help you with my very limited command of English. Disclaimer: The following statement does not represent the opinion or beliefs of EsQueue. You're a very good builder but not a very good rider. I notice that you are afraid of all the vehicles that you drive. Stop riding the clutch on take off. Give the vehicle adequate to prevent stalling then release the clutch quicker than you are currently doing. I also don't recommend that you use the clutch to shift. Just release the accelerator and shift gears simultaneously. You will most likely grind away at your gears as you are a beginner but you will impress me and others such as myself at the expense of your transmission gears. I can assure you that you'll increase your 0-65 MPH times within a few seconds.

It’s not week it’s just put into a different format a dirt bike engine isn’t really meant for a go kart but he managed to do it with a very minor problems I think it’s just fine, all it needs is a better driver and lower idle speed, not worth the time of a full rebuild

well its a very easy motor to rebuild and can be done within a night, but yes exactly, the motor was never desinged to turn a axle as it does in this platform. was desinged for a single small wheel off a sproket

I had a TRX250R and tried imaging that engine on a cart. That nice setup you have looks plenty. I needed a long field to really ride that quad. You need a long, wide open parking lot. Be careful not to get decapitated on those roads :)

1. Add a suspension and little bit taller wheels without changing the wheelbase so it can handle bumpy surfaces at high speed on a tight lane. 2. Add a seat belt and weld a rollcage above the frame to keep in safe when your out of control and get flipped. 3. ask the fastest driver you know to do a serious fast lap on it at an empty park walkway with corners.

The first cart we built had a Victa 160 2St lawn mower engine then Honda 90 . Then we tried something a little different , A YZ 250 G motor When power band comes in AT 90 mph in top cog you know what scarey is . Adrenalin Junkis Heaven

I realize that you made this video back in 2018 so you probably have made some changes by now but regarding your concern about changing the gearing. If you have to feather the clutch that much to get the cart to move from a dead stop then yes, you need to add some teeth the rear or go down some on the counter shaft sprocket. Looking at the speed you were going I'd say you could definitely change the gearing and STILL haul azz. That thing looks fun and very fast. Good job. I would LOVE to do something like that. Two thumbs up.

You need more torque to be able to take off easily on a slope for that you will have to change the pinion of the rear shaft to put a pinion of larger diameter ... This will reduce your max speed in a straight line, but you will have more of torque to take off on a slope ...💪 good job

You should do paddle shifters on the steering wheel that are done with two cables, put the original shifter on the engine and cut of the peg coming out, then drill a hole for cables to go through, attach two cables, one coming from the front side of the engine and one coming from the back of the engine so you can up shift and down shift with two individual paddles on the steering wheel(cables would run to these paddles obviously)

RBW, use the lift and shift mode. I used to do it on KZ-1200 drag bike. You could even use an air shifter. They work really well. You would only have to down shift manually. Just an thought. You've got mad welding skills for sure!
