i would not weld the sprcokets on i would weld a hub on for them to bolt to this way when teeth are worn you can swap sprockets out rather then have to grind all the weld etc

I was totally going to comment Honda/Acura shifters. To my experience, I think the civic is a smaller pattern and integra is a bit larger. Civic is probably the cheaper one.

They could use the press if they make an adapter to put custom teeth cutters and an indexed shaft holder. With how much force that machine has, they could cut the teeth in one pass, no problemo. They are seriously under using that machine, there's a stupid amount of uses for from broaching, key cutting, to even this, a rudimentary, but very functional splined shaft cutting method.

Great job on the tank Chris I remember back to some of your first one's and now look at how professional they look! A tip for the next one put some baffles inside the tank to slow the side to side sloshing that this one will give as you swerve left or right, with such a big tank up high without baffles it can be quite concerning Love that home made Steady rest why by one when you ca make it ? use oil on the contact points it will help with maring the finish of your project. Keep up the great work Tony from Western Australia.

I would suggest two bearings to support the sprocket shaft. It will need as much support for deflection so as to not harm the internal bearings and gears in the engine
@butchs.4239
@butchs.4239 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I'd use a second engine sprocket and a length of double row chain to connect the engine output sprocket to the jackshaft's sprocket. A chain coupler allows for a bit of misalignment between the engine's output shaft and the jackshaft, so the output shaft's bearings aren't being side loaded.

The gearing is going to be wild on that thing between the 5 speed on the bike motor and a h pattern transmission also ..... wild ....
@Crewsy
@Crewsy 3 жыл бұрын
I think you’re over thinking the final gearing. An old 3 or 4 speed manual is approximately a 3:1 first gear ratio so at most his lowest gear is now 3 times lower than what he’d have with the motorcycle transmission alone. Which will allow for rock crawling gearing. Best thing is that he will have reverse now.
