Man, this video was BEYOND informative. The was one of the most clearly explained and useful tip DBFZ videos I've ever seen. I learned a lot about things that weren't even being covered as the main focus of this video. The side by side comparisons along with the immediate follow ups of pros and cons were great. The editing was on point and the structure of the video was amazing, as opposed to how other youtubers do it where they just wing it over a 20 minute video and record live. You deserve WAY more subs and views than you have now. I'm looking forward to watching more of your content. Videos like this are better than a lot of the stuff we see from others like Maxamilion Dood or Rooflemonger

Thank you so much for this video. I actually never knew that you have so many options when someone vanishes your guard cancels. So it's true that you have no recovery on a guard cancel whiff but a lot on block. I used to GC at the beginning of a block string because that's where I thought my opponent would least expect it.

How do you tap forward while blocking? The dpad is a cross stick, I can't press forward while blocking. Would need each direction to be a separate button.

Didn't know that you could punish with a 2H if they try to vanish your guard cancel, that's pretty huge! Since on hit GC doesn't lead to anything (and on block I'm dead), can't I just mash 2H or EX Gale Claws/EX Perfect Attack/etc. right after I guard cancel and always beat their vanish? Or is it possible for them to time vanish just meaty enough that it'll catch most attacks before the head invul starts?

You should be fine to 2H. Even if you mess up, there's very little risk to it. Anything with frame 1 upper body or full invul will work every time for sure, like EX perfect attack

So I watched this video and the offense 101, but I think I need a tutorial on how to practice punishing guard cancel. How do you setup the training dummy to randomly guard cancel? Also when you mention "react with 2H", if I was mashing my blockstrings, it doesn't seem to work anymore. I feel if you can, to teach how to work better on imputing one input at the same time. A bit more in details. I also assume you can't always stagger. Like Super Baby seems to only be able to stagger after his 5M, but it is super unsafe as people lvl3 on reaction already on it. Or I like to play Gogeta and his stagger game really sucks.

I believe the single character guard cancel has less negative on block, making it less punishable. So single character guardcancels are a lot more viable. Also you forgot to mention that you can always punish guard cancel when you are in spark just hold vanish and block the guardcancel->punish. And characters with a DP like ssj vegeta, adult gohan and cooler can cancel all their normals into DP on reaction of a guardcancel. Good video notheless, there is just missing some information.

I actually think guard cancel with a Single character is even more risky. Because you appear "behind" the character and with no tracking, it can whiff ! For instance, let's say you are playing gogeta and you decide to guard cancel after his 5M in the middle of the screen. Well, if he goes into his 2M, he will advance so much your guard cancel attack will whiff and you will get a full punish (from the gogeta player) ! Let's say you want to use it against Goku GT special attack 236L (or let's call it "rasengan"). As he does his attack in the air, most single character guard cancel will pass below him and he will be able to full punish. But, worst of all, if you use single character guard cancel, your opponent can simply call an assist to take the hit from the attack and then full punish you. Finally, I don't know if single character guard cancel is less negative on block, but, I will say, there is less traveling time and your opponent needs to change his blocking direction, so, that can help !

Rath , what's your opinion on push block(if it cost a bar) being in dbfz ? And would snapping back cost a bar balance it out ?

I think that defense is so strong and rewarding in this game already that it might make things unbearable on offense. People already joke about how long matches take (although I think it's fine). I think snapping taking a bar might be okay as a separate thing entirely, but I'm not sure since a lot of characters already have to spend a bar with vanish to do it 🤔

@@RathFGCyou do have a point about some characters already needing a bar for snapping , so maybe snapping is fine as is . And matches are fine imho . How would we improve offense without making the game worse ? Maybe make double super usable for certain characters ? Just a thought . Thanks for the reply !

If they buff guard cancels I want it to take more resources. Take 2-3 bars for doing it. People complain so much to add shit so they don’t have to block.

No, but you see, current Guard Cancel is so bad that it *checks notes* changed the way people do blockstrings when the opponent has meter available, and also made staggers signifcantly more useful. But seriously, remember when basically any move could just beat GC in season 1?
