Okay, I screwed up! LOL When describing the F# blues scale at 1:05, I played it correctly, but tabbed it wrong. The tab should read "14 16 17" on the G string, and NOT "14 15 16." Sorry about that! :)

Dude, great job on this. I’ve learned some advanced solos by ear before, but this one in particular, and Warren overall, has always stumped me. Warren can have a phrasing to his leads that is really tricky to get down. This solo seems so obvious now, so mad props. Long live RATT!
@Gregmsod3 жыл бұрын
Great video. I appreciate that you broke this down to single licks rather than segmented runs.

Absolutely brilliant lesson! Huge huge DeMartini fan. I believe his riff writing and soloing on Detonator was the apex of his brilliant career. I mean the solos on Top Secret, Heads I Win, and my all time favorite Ratt song Can't Wait On Love are just mind blowing. I really dug how you slowed the parts down and the soul and feeling on that 3rd section with the Dorian bend was so killer. Keep breaking down these 80's shredder solos and I love the theory explanation too!
@DC7ify2 жыл бұрын
So glad I found you! You really get into the details! The description of scales on what Warren used really helped me understand his style alot more!. Always loved this style of shred and hoping to keep 80s shred alive as well!

I really like the way you break into small sections and normal/slow speed. I've been playing this stuff since 85 but I'm an ear player. I see you play sections I've been playing wrong and when I hear it I can't believe I couldn't tell. I guess when the whole band is playing sometimes it's hard to tell.

Is that a Duncan Quarter Pounder in the neck? I've got one in the bridge of a custom strat (with an Eric Clapton mid boost and tone circuit in it) and it sounds killer. Love those pickups, never tried one in the neck position :)
