Happy (kinda belated) CATurday! 😻 Here are a few things I've noticed during the times Puppy ate different types of meat in his raw food diet (which is the same recipe on CatLadyFitness.com by the way, simply different base meat used instead of solely chicken thighs like the original starter recipe)! Have you noticed any specific differences in your kitties by changing up the meat source in their raw food? P.S. 100% raw venison (including internal organs) seems to supercharge my two felines. About 20mins after eating, they start charging around super wild, jumping, chirping, meowing excitedly, etc. Their fur also becomes incredibly silky. They like it so much, as soon as they smell it, all hell breaks loose. They go absolutely crazy for it.

I never give my cat beef anymore. The stool I didn't like. I heard beef wasn't good, so I stayed away from it. I don't feed pork either. I just feed my cat chicken, Cornish hen, turkey, duck, lamb, sardines on occasion and a whole rabbit if I want to spoil him in that batch of food. My grinder does help with preparing all this. Lucky for me I found a butcher place in the city that sales chicken hearts and chicken liver for cheap. My cat loves the rabbit food. Unfortunately I can only afford it once a year for him. I do one day want to feed him deer meat but finding it is the question. Also the cost too.

If you are in an area where hunting is common try and find someone or a family member (or just hunt them yourself). In bigger cities it’s less common to find deer meat though.

I tried chicken, turkey, venisen, beef, rabbit, tuna, elk, and bison. The top picks for our cats are a mixture of beef organs, bison, elk, chicken hearts, chicken livers and salmon oil. I wanted to give them a variety but I discovered once they like something and I change the mix, then they will not eat the meat. So after two years of trying this and that I stay with what they love to eat. I have six cats and I make 8 pounds per month because only three cats will eat the raw food so far.

I don' t make it myself but I buy a raw food diet from a breeder I trust to. Ii is a mix of an amish chicken 80%, organs 10%, bones 10% - $2.50 per lb. I add taurine, kelp and a salmon oil on my own after thawing in the refrigerator. Also, she cooks a bone broth separately so I take it, too. I add a jello to this mix. My cat loves it but not all cats do. It is an optional thing. On a side, I buy chicken hearts, chunks of turkey as a treat. While I am at work from 9 to 6 so just in case, I leave a bowl with a little of a raw chicken dry food by Instinct, about a half of cup even less. At least it's a 95% protein. Do cats love a duck? Nothing I've heard of. None of my family and friends love a duck meat. OK, ok, I can eat duck tapas once in a blue moon and yet, not in all restaurants I go.

my cat loves the beef, seems to be working just fine and hes been on raw for about 5 months. I slowly transitioned him into it mixing with wet food till he started puking the wet food only and now hes on beef, chicken wing, chicken liver/pork kidney, chicken heart salmon oil mixture and he loves it.

You want to feed a minimum of 3 /4 proteins, the more the better. I feed about 22 different proteins to my dog & about 10 to my cat. My cat eats more whole prey, and majority red meat (my dog also eats mostly red meat too)

That's interesting you mention the instant change in demeanor of your cat. I gave my two cats some cut up chicken hearts and some gizzards to supplement their normal food and it was very surprising how their mood and energy levels peaked.

My cat just finished his first ever raw food (chicken) while I watch this video. He ate them all. I'm surprised. His skin is still looking awful after he was fed onions over a week ago. So, I thought changing his diet from commercial wet and dry food to raw food would help him heal faster. I'm also gonna buy him some coconut oil/ apple cider vinegar tom. You and Puppy are great together! I am using your recipe, give or take, with 5 pounds whole chicken and 5 pounds whole turkey. This lasts my 7 pound cat Marcy about 16-17 days, she LOVES it, she's a beauty queen, and now has energy through the roof. Open to any suggestions but it seems to be good with her right now. Would love to know your thoughts on duck. I use chicken and duck and my kitties loooove it and definitely noticed less eye goop. They are all super energetic, lovely fur and overall seem very healthy.

I'm yet to try duck as it also seems as hard to find as rabbit and is particularly fatty... but I'd definitely be open to seeking it out and doing a blend with chicken (likely omitting chicken skins to keep the dietary fat at Puppy's ideal level)! My cat doesn't do well on beef or lamb meat, but he loves beef heart and organs. I generally think that the meat of big mammals is not suitable for cats' digestive system, they are usually hunting small mammals and birds. But it's only my opinion and my experience with my cat, don't take it on your side, maybe beef will work for your cat. The base of my cat's diet is day-old chicks, he eats them whole (sometimes he leaves wings or feet because he is full) 4-5 day-old chicks in a day. Plus I give him small pieces of chicken or turkey or duck and also gizzards, hearts, whole feeder mice, quail eggs, sometimes he gets a little bit of fish when I feed my dogs. The raw diet is the best diet for cats and I really appreciate your videos because you spread out this information!

How do I get my kitty to like chicken? He goes crazy for red meat and organs, but he’s not as excited about chicken meat. He gets chunky food because he prefers chunks to chew on, but he eats the skin, hearts and livers and then walks away. After that, I put his leftovers in the fridge and then put it back out for him later and he’ll eat the rest of it. I tried mixing the chicken with some ground sirloin and he still picks at it. He typically doesn’t touch the chicken until I crush up some freeze dried treats over it.

my 16 month old has eaten premade raw since 16 months old I think she has an intolerance to chicken as she seems to love it but them appetite goes down when she eats is and stop eating much at all after a couple of days. My cat has ibs and he has been on meds and gi kibble and soft good. It has not help enough. So I tried him on rabbit and pork and thrive pro-gut and his bowels are now firm. 🙏 Next week I will try Turkey, samonand lamb... for variety... would love to hear your thoughts? I recently gave my cat the raw food diet for the first time ever he’s a 5 month old kitten and he’s actually pretty easy going so I didn’t have to do any transition I think it helped that I would already give him cans of tuna that I drained half way so he was already good with wet food I figured that Id try a mix of beef and chicken because I already knew that whenever I have cooked beef or chicken he always wanted some and would not chill until I gave him some too and what do you know he loved it dived right into it I got him chicken livers for a soft texture and small beef chunks that he can get a nice bite out of mixed with some egg yolks and vitamins and it was amazing it only took me about 15 minutes to make a small batch that should last him a little over 2 weeks

But it is highly addictive and don't give it to him all the time. occasionally I will give him a mix of chicken pieces raw and a little bit of tuna fish. Don't believe these vets all the time period my sister wants to know a vet the other day cause he had diarrhea and believe it or not the vet recommended dry cat food Dental help! As if any kind of dry food would be good for the cat's teeth! Unbelievable these vets. It's called marketing. Advertising periadvertising. Primal pronto has a rabbit and a pork version of their raw frozen food. My kitten loves both of them so if you wanted to try those flavors this might be the most accessible option. They are a bit pricey though. We're starting to research making his raw food from scratch and your videos are so so helpful.

Thank you for sharing this video. Puppy didn't want to comment. We have only tried raw chicken but not tried turkey so will leave that one out. Maybe if you were taking Puppy on a long journey he could try turkey if he doesn't like travelling he can sleep instead. But probably best for him not to have it. You are cool presenter I can imagine you on TV. We may try the beef mix with chicken cut it up small. Have you tried raw liver and kidneys? I think there is vitamin A in liver. Our cats hate poke.

there are places that sell raw frozen mice for cats. i don't feel comfortable feeding rabbit or pork either. rabbit meat is also high in contaminants. I tried it once b/c my cat has allergies to something which i still am not sure of. i assumed chicken so i tried primal rabbit frozen and my cat did not like it. it is very difficult when your cat has dermatitis b/c it is so hard to know what is causing the reaction.

That makes complete sense. I notice Colette occasionally engaging in sleep marathons but didn’t realize it could be the turkey. I rotate 3 varieties of frozen raw Primal & 4 flavors of Nature’s Variety Raw Instinct cups so she gets the meaty chunks& gravy she adores. Her favorite by far is rabbit. You are correct, pork is not a food for pets. Do you ever feed Puppy fish and if so is it wild caught?

Top-level consumers like large fish should be avoided due to bio-magnification and parasites, among other reasons (see CLF's reply below), but some people add canned pilchards for Omega-3 supplementation, as, unless you are using grass-fed organic meat, there will be an imbalance of Omega-3's and Omega-6's in the meat.

I just started my buddy on a raw diet litch-rally ytd and he does seem to be more drowsy, I used a blend of chicken thighs 40%, pork neck 40%, chicken hearts 10% and (damn me, didn't know this was a luxury) beef tongue 10% now I kinda regret choosing these meats, I feel like my base has too much taurine (?) could anyone provide me with more insights? next time, i'll definitely go with more chicken thighs, I want variety though so any suggestions to replace the pork neck, chicken hearts and (definitely) beef tongue?

I don't know where you live but I would think you would have an Asian or International grocery store that you could make the drive to within reason once in a while. I buy rabbit at one that is about 45-50 minutes away and I'm willing to do that drive. I use a grinder and vitamix to mix up the meats. My cats also like chicken, turkey, and duck. They never have taken to beef and I don't feed them fish of any kind.

I decided to add 1 TB of raw organic chicken breast to her wet food, which Kya loves but I noticed she has some chin acne. I'm sure its possible she's allergic to the chicken breast. Thank you!

@@audreywednesday2788 He does get sluggish after eating a few chunks of chicken but it is usually after dark. In the morning he is typhooooon.... Doesn't stop running, keeps playing. I guess it will take some time for their systems to adapt to the raw diet. Thank you for replying. 😊

Besides the obvious contaminants that build up in large fish, like mercury, fish should only be given on occasion b/c it has high magnesium and can cause urinary crystals. they get addicted to it and it is a common allergen.

I have 4 cats. Two are outside MOST of the time and do a lot of hunting. I witnessed one of them eating a whole squirrel! Everything but the tail was consumed. She has really soft shiny fur and seems very healthy. The two indoor cats eat mostly chicken thighs as the main meat and beef as the secondary meat. My 14-year-old girl prefers the beef. I tend to cut up their food with a pair of kitchen scissors, so I cut hers up small. She loves it. But I do try to grind the meat as they will avoid the liver if it is in chunks, so it works best to grind it in with the rest of the meat.

Did you ever notice that your vet has a fit when you say I feed raw diet mine did went on twenty minutes of rant that you will cause your cat to get salmonella and that other food poisoning can occur .isaid to that vet so tell me g How much scholarship money did you get from nine lives cat food well that shut her up fast and that was the last visit to thar vet my cat is eight yrs old he gets half no grain cat food raw chicken beef cubes and freeze dried rabbit meat mixed together .his coat is silky and shines for all grey cat who is 90percent Russian blue but hes a big cat weighs in at 17lbs no fat all muscle clean white teeth and so stink in poop also has never had shots except for kitten shots current vet says ok since he's a house cat and is eight yrs old

If you have a backyard, get a rabbit hutch and breed your own rabbit. That's what I do. They don't stink or make noise so nobody will ever notice them.

Hi Dragon! You want to avoid raw fish as a regular part of your cat's diet for a few reasons.. Actually, I'll just paste a blurb from feline-nutrition.org which suits your question perfectly :) "Fish as the basis of a raw diet is not recommended. Avoid top-of-the-food-chain fish such as tuna altogether as they are much more likely to be contaminated with PCBs or heavy metals than short-lived fish lower on the food chain. Feeding water-packed sardines once a week can provide extra omega fatty acids. For variety, you can also occasionally add a can of wild-caught salmon to the ground recipe."
