And there i was playing god knows how much ksp but its one sh*t tonne and id been making my mk1 jets w ugly ass noses cos i never realised that that was what the ncs adaptor is for and i had just been sticking simple conic rocket nose cones on for a year

Real Plume beautifies engine plumes and works nicely, but I dropped it for the waterfall mod by Nertea. It does mesh driven engine plumes that look way better especially in low atmospheric pressure and vacuum, and use less resources, I think. Also, good tips, didn't know some of them.

Dude.. that dual probecore trick is so simple, yet so brilliant.

I'd recommend getting scatterer for much nicer looking oceans, and also waterfall works better than realplume (and looks better imo)
@mathiash.13793 жыл бұрын
Heh... the angled probecore to control a set pitch is something i came up with aswell, but i used infernal robotics for that. putting the Probecore on a hinge so i could change the pitch by switching trough preset angles. I found this to be particularly usefull on my "spaceshuttle" replicas, one preset angle in line with the center of trust of the main engines for ascent, and a different angle for reentry.

6:55 Vaos doesn't like small balls. In all seriousness, though, I actually didn't know about the intakes, the nosecone drag trick is indeed an OG trick (but good to know it still works in the latest version), and the reentry module I learned from you a few years ago (but I think I can improve on it for some minor part savings). Basically, just have a single probe core, and mount it on a hinge, and use a KAL to activate it.

Darn good. I like to use the hemispherical nose cones on the rapiers. They work the best due to having the same diameter.

this is true, the occlusion is much better this way, the action menu debug lets you see this much better than the overlay

I think a bigger nosecone works even better with reducing drag, cause the drag cube size matches. Also, how come I don’t see wing incidence mentioned more often? Tilting your wings a little so they actually give lift when you’re pointed prograde is very valuable.
@XavierBetoN3 жыл бұрын
8:20 having 2 control nodes are waste of mass. I do control group 1 to the rear wings toggle and that works for free for reentry.

Also, it's not realplume, it's waterfall. Realplume just uses the stock engine plume vfx system to make more realistic plumes, while waterfall is a completely different plume vfx system.

I add a probe core to many ships just so scientists can pilot them by themselves. When I use one as a reentry computer I use the cockpit as the level control from here location.

How is that shock-cone mounted? The engine mounts are pretty simple. Mk2>Dual 1.25, twin 1.25>Mk2 rotated, then twin Mk2> Dual 1.25 for the quad rapiers.

Why the probe cores, you can just control from here with the docking port and if the plane is well built it should stay stabil just with stability assist you dont need the prograde button.

@vaos3712Ай бұрын
@@ZoeSummers1701A sadly, V4virus deleted his channel many years ago during a time when youtube was still young and growing so fast that it was implementing new policies every few weeks. Some policies were good and other policies were bad and stupid. He had enough when youtube started copying right striking people for music in their videos, and promptly left. This was of course a new policy at the time and so things like warnings or the Algorithm checking the music on videos during upload was not a feature yet. You would simply get a full on strike after your video had been out for a few days and someone flags it. Those were bad days for youtube as a lot of people started to leave the platform. V4virus being one of them. 😎
