Try the Terro liquid ant baits. The ants take it back as food to the nest and it kills the colony. You have to leave it out for a couple days and the visible ants will explode but then it'll die off quickly. We've had ants in the house and this works so well.

You can research local hiking trails and natural parks on the internet. There are many in your area. Why don't you have Jackson facing out, so he can see what's going on around him, if he's not sleeping? Go to the place where you get your car detailed to ask them what the deal is with getting rid of roaming ants all over your car. Is there a lot of dropped food in the car? Where was it parked or did you drive that one when you went to NC? Did you pick them up in the woods of NC? I'd speak to an auto detailer before calling your exterminator to discover the solution. Usually, in a home, you discover where they are getting in during rainy seasons and follow their trail to the entry point with ant repellent and that will work. But I have no clue how you would discover in a vehicle where their entry point and pathway are without taking the car apart piece by piece. Riley looks like the ultimate chic toddler in her little backyard pool. It's a great idea for her to get out in the yard and sunshine and run around since you have a yard. And Jackson is launching himself into a scooch forward and will soon be crawling. He's not behind. He'll get the idea to plant his knees firmly on the floor and coordinate their movement forward with that of his hands to really propel himself into new realms to explore. Then you'll need locks on things for child-proofing. Try to let Jackson bite things off of what you give him and let him figure out he has to let part of it dribble back out of his mouth because it's too much. It may not be, depending upon how many teeth he needs to chew whatever it is. You are right there. He has to learn a bit about the dimensions of his mouth vs. the proportions of the bites or spoonsful, forksful he takes. You will know if he's choking. It doesn't really sound like coughing, which is a protective mechanism. And if he goes silent, if anyone ever goes silent, they're in trouble right then. Mostly he'll put a larger piece of something near his mouth and bite into it or gum it with part of it still in his fingers anyway. So, he doesn't need you grabbing it from him. Ask him to chew and make a chewing motion with your mouth. He can use examples of the behaviors. He will mimic you. And don't just grab things from him that will startle him because he thought he was allowed to have whatever it is. Guide his hand and tell him to bite off a piece or suggest a smaller piece. He is learning language, but he will come to understand. You don't want to become like a bird of prey swooping in on him and turning mealtime into a nervous-making enterprise. Be social with him, though not entertaining. You do not want to actually distract him from eating. But you can talk to him, as you would at a family supper table, except for now you are reminding him to chew and to take smaller bites or breaking up a piece on his tray and explaining why you are doing that. Thus he learns more language and gets what the goals are somewhere at a healthy medium between microscopic bits of food that cannot even register on his taste buds to huge mouthsful that he cannot even chew. Remember too with a large mouthful of food that you want to intervene, gently while explaining, but he can breathe through his nose as long as his windpipe is clear. So you are really suggesting to him how to not foster/create choking, rather than stopping him in mid-choke. You need to develop a natural rhythm based upon his feeding rhythms, not totally different from he has his own habits in nursing or even drinking formula, so that you do not help to engender eating or metabolic disorders that will plague your children for a lifetime. He is doing so well, it is clear. You know this - too many parents are lax with their children, forgetting how helpless they are if they get into trouble they can't handle. And they can handle little since they are new to this world. However, your putting your neuroses onto them is a bad thing and I know you are trying not to do that. Take deep breaths or you will stop breathing and Joe will find you on the floor while Jackson has just happily completed a big Thanksgiving dinner this November. Try to relax. Take deep breaths. Do not make panicky, jerky movements or convey your fear to him. It was a normal, healthy, ameliorative response to the closet door falling on him. It is excessive while doing BLW. Be right there and vigilant, but talk to him and he will learn some table manners and to focus on eating in the process. Just gently talk him and yourself through the process. You want a family that eats and chats together and does not get distracted from the meal, yet enjoys the mealtime together with mannerly behavior as solid family time that should not be intruded upon. You will get precious little family time one day and be glad of mealtime parameters you have set. And they can always make their own rules in their own homes one day, right? Just keep as calm and relaxed as possible. He is so sad awakening from this nap. He has had sleep issues, but remember babies have bad dreams, too. So something may have frightened him or made him sad that he does not recall now that he's awake. The only thing worse with children is when something like the closet door falling on him happens or not being able to figure out what his intestinal issues were. But hearing your child scream as though they are being murdered in the midst of a sleep time is just heart-stopping and is often bad dreams. They have to be addressed. If the child is Riley's age you may have to put something like eucalyptus under her bed and tell her that this prevents the monsters from hiding under there or whatever her dream was to eventually get her back into her bed another night. If she makes you put it under everybody's beds so be it. Pick something that smells good and doesn't make noise or cleaning issues. It's a wonder we don't all have heart attacks running to rescue our kids from whatever is plaguing them at the moment that they cannot control and do not know if it's real or not. To them the dream is real. Oh, look at that sad face. Good that you are able to use extraneous furniture to store things in the basement, so you don't have to rent a storage unit and have things out of reach. Riley can soon be taught gently to start sneezing and coughing into the crook of her elbow. That is not beyond her age range of abilities now. It will be pertinent since she is too young to wear a mask at present. So cute that Jackson makes Riley laugh, as she makes him laugh. That garden is probably a well-terraced and fenced starting point for you all to grow some things. Actually Virginia gets humid. It's just that Miami and most of Florida are so humid that it's like breathing in water and you need gill slits. LOL. It may not be too humid where you are today. I like you all and if you think I am blunt, think of me as an older sister. LOL. I know you can do this and want to see you and your lovely family succeed and these are tough time with babes. While Riley is often dancing, I truly am busy doing mental, emotional cheerleading for you all.
