I constructed a canvas kayak when I was 15, from offcuts of floor boards, and roofing laths, that I had to cut lengthwise with just a small pruning saw, and then paddled 100 miles down the Thames, with a mate, in a second kayak, camping each night. Not really 'wild' country, though we 'lost' our tent briefly, when we came back from the village pub one night, as it was camouflaged. This brings it all back.

As always, excellent! or as Ray would say Brilliant. I've been watching his videos for the last 3 days at night. Love them all!

I really like 'Ray´s videos and, for me, he is one of the "best" bushcrafters in the whole scene.

Ray really does make me laugh when he's cooking outdoors... go's on like he's Jamie Oliver, could almost imagin hearing him saying "get your fire up to gas mark 5" lol

I've enjoyed all of Ray's vids I've seen. This however makes me want to buy a canoe or more likely a kayak and take on the old tombigbee and even the tenn-tom waterway.

I imagine Champlain and all the following "coureurs des bois", discovering a vast "New World" in this manner... Clever "rope" for the tripod... He can also use spinet roots and split them which gives sturdy ropes.

I like how at 16:14 (bit them back) his face is all bit up, you can see the veins in his neck are outlined in mosquito/bug bites (His right side)... then at 17:04, nothing on his face, no outlines of bugbites, etc... also at 18:10... :D

It's hilarious to read that someone is actually giving advice to Ray Mears on starting a fire. Here he is instructing SOMEONE ELSE in how to do it. The poster is obviously not a bushcraft specialist or he would be familiar with Ray's background and awesome body of work. Poser indeed! What a joke.

LOL .......the guy was too stupid to realise that Ray used the thickness of spindle because it was easier for the to practice with....Plus what a twit making the comment about the storm
