Milland starred in a movie entitled “Alias Nick Beal” playing the devils emissary in a modern version of Faust. The movie has never been released on DVD or VHS. It was an excellent and chilling portrayal. It should be released to the public but unfortunately it has almost been forgotten.

Even flat jockeys have been quite tall. Fred Archer (winner of 5 Derbys) was 5feet 9. Lester Piggott (winner of 9 Derbys) was 5feet 8 and more recently Joseph O'Brien (winner of two Derbys) was 5 feet 10. However professional jump jockeys tended to be about 25% heavier and so also taller. And amateur jump jockeys could be even heavier and taller.

I believe this. In appx. 1971 my dad spotted Ray in a restaurant in Monte Carlo. We were eating some French Onion soup in the fancy cafe across from the casino. My dad spoke to Ray and told him how he liked his acting. We were so innocent to the situation and how exclusive this part of the world was. We enjoyed some salad n in another nearby town. May have been Nice.

Hi Age of Vintage, how are you going? This is a classic example of you're fabulous work. Loved Ray Milland as an Actor, very handsome in his young years. He played in many movies in Hollywood & won an Oscar for best actor in Billy Wilder's film, portraying an alcoholic writer in The Lost Weekend in 1945 with co star Jane Wyman. He also won a Golden globe award, the Cannes film festival award, the National board of review award, & the New York Critics film circle award all for the same movie. When the film premiered across Europe, he was sent to each opening. On arriving in Cardiff Wales, where he came from he was given the Key to the City. In 1954 he starred in Alfred Hitchcock's film Dial M for Murder with Grace Kelly. The two were apparently smitten with each other & began a serious affair together, even though he was married & had 2 children. His wife heard of these rumours & reminded him all the property etc they owned was in her name. Grace Kelly was also reported to be flagrantly having an affair with a married man & what it could do to her career. She was very career orientated & so the two called off the affair. Milland was to appear in such other notable Movies, Beau Geste, The Major & the Minor, The Uninvited, The Ministry of Fear, The Big Clock, The Thief, & played Oliver Barrett the 3rd in the film Love Story in 1970. He played alongside many popular actresses of the time including, Gene Tierney, Grace Kelly, Lana Turner, Marlene Dietrich, Ginger Rogers, Jane Wyman, Loretta Young, Dorothy Lamour, Claudette Colbert, Paulette Goddard, Olivia de Havilland & Veronica Lake just to name a few. He reprised his role of Ryan O'Neill's father in Oliver's Story in 1978. In 1975 the BBC made him the reciprocal star of the series This Is Your Life. He also starred in many TV shows in his later life as, The highly acclaimed Rich Man Poor Man, receiving an Emmy nomination for best supporting Actor, guest appearances in Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Charlie's Angels, & Hart to Hart. Milland was married to Muriel Frances Weber from September 1931 until his death on the 10th of March 1986. He passed away from lung cancer at the age of 79, he had been a heavy smoker all his life. Of everything I read or saw about him that he was really nice man. I don't know if the Grace Kelly story is true or not. Don't really care one way or the other. None of my business. He was married to the same woman for 52 years. Milland tried to join the Army Air Force because he knew how to fly, but due to his left hand being impaired had a 4F classification. However during the war, he worked as a civilian flight instructor for the Army, as well as touring with the USO South Pacific troupe in 1944.

I have no issues with that it’s their business. Where Grace Kelly was concerned, she portrayed herself as something she was not. Actress Yvonne De Carlo for example, was beautiful, and she liked men too, but was honest about her love life. I respect that. I’m not a fan of Kelly. Many of these female actors really did ruin many lives on their way through fame and beauty, because their weapon was beauty and fame and charm, and that is the most dangerous tools in the world for some women to have. Men are not the innocent part in these romances, because they fall for the tricks every single time. Grace kelly was one of the most beautiful actors in Hollywood, but she had an undecent behavior all the way through her fame. The same goes for Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Vivian Leigt and many many more, they just needed talent for reality, and today they are all gone, but the show goes on, in a Hollywood full of sex, sin and drugs, divorces and unhappy kids, because they never learn......
