I went to Washington with the Crips when Raymond and Tookie joined forces at the theater on Westen and Umperial in 1970. They were called the Crips then, not Cribs. Those dudes that did the killing at the Palaidum in 1972 all went to Washington. Cops are at the school the next day and arrested Conrad, Bub, and a few others who are still alive, so I won't mention their names. They beat the dude over his leather coat, and his father was a famous and politically connected black attorney. The kid went to Dorsey High, This was in 1972 and when we went to play sports at Dorsey that year, there were lots of cops around.

The name of the theater at Western Ave and Imperial was called the Rio Theater. Security was provided by members of the Black Karate Federation (BKF), whose studio was located at Western Ave and 103rd St. Crips never caused any trouble at the Rio out of respect for the BKF. Many of the BKF members also attended Washington High School, home of many of the Westside Crips. Some members of the Westside Crips would even come to the BKF studio and watch the karate practices. They never caused any problems with or at the BKF.

A must see KMV aka You can’t miss this. The lion, the Legend and the Grand Organizer Mr. Raymond Washington, your peers have spoken and Solidified your Legacy. I’ll say this, Raymond had a Hellofa Reputation and due to the lack of Older Brothers to guide the youth of South Los Angeles, needless to say that Raymond did his thing and this is how the Legendary Crips started. Along with other prominent members who established their own reputations and founded their own Hoods. I do love how all of these different man tell their own story and weather they’re lying are not(mostly the truth) you can see how all the dots fit together. Great video once again and like l said l was gonna tap in as soon as l got to the Crib. (Pun intended) Well worth the wait and thank you to all of the OOOGs, OOGs and OGs who took their time to contribute to the KMV Platform. Thank you Big Kev!! Peace!! #Salute!! 💙💙

Interesting thing regarding the name Crips vs. Cribs there's a Great Hit show called Quincy with Jack Klugman as a Medical Examiner. One of the shows during the 1st Season is with a guy that gets beat up and killed by a member of a gang that's called The Cribs! The Episode Called "Crib Job"! 3rd Season episode #13. From my research this is the 1st time that the name Crib or Crip was used on a TV, or Movie ( I believe) Show.

@@troubleman3837 Yeah, and my younger brother thinks that the video we're watching here is boring as well. The show is a drama about the 1st Los Angeles Medical Examiner. I respect your opinion though. Keep in mind that it was shot during a different time (being 1976-77). I recently watched Movie Redemption The Tookie Williams Story for the 3rd time. I think that it's a Damn good Movie! Again, not an Action Movie it's a Drama. Now my younger brother who is 27 (I'm 55) He doesn't get it he said this is boring as hell. He also laughs at the fact that guys in the Movie was shooting 38's 32's, & Saturday Night Specials, etc. He made a statement that they shooting Pea Shooters! Young-one don't understand we all had to start-off at a certain point. We learned to crawl before we learned to walk, then run. I realize that I'm off on a tangent. But the main point that I wanted to make is the episode on the show used the term Cribs versus Crips!! Sorry you may have lost 44 minutes of your life Bro. LoL

Say bra!! I'm glad you've brought the history to the forefront, because out of towners that banged these sets had the history misconstrued. Alot of original sets in other states and cities turned Blood & Crip due to family relation or out of LA cats running drugs thru their towns, but sum original sets stayed firm and never switched over. People never really knew wtf they were banging, they just thought it was kool and it came out the bigger city where movies and Hollywood was at. Now as grown men, we got sum clarity on how this all got started. This is much needed being that alot of brothas lost their life whether in LA or other regions of the U.S. Kev Mac you deserve sum type of award or something for letting the world know the facts and hear it come from the O.G's who were there!! 👍👊✌

Well done piecing this montage together KM 👏. To hear from all the originals who were there in the beginning is so cool. So it seems the consensus is that it was always C-R-I-P-S, not Cribs. However, when the Crips were first starting out, probably some ppl back then thought it was pronounced Cribs and that's most likely where the confusion comes from...both names back in the day were being thrown around. Putting this R.W compilation with all the triple O.G's was a smart idea, Kev. Don't know how I over looked this for 2 yrs. Puts everything into perspective but also we get to see how memories and opinions vary on the Crip name.
