So many of you have asked about the temperature data. In general, the iPhone 11 Pro Max ran ~2 degree's cooler than the iPhone 11. Here's the baseline data: COD Mobile Test w/naked iPhone: ~37 C Slo-Motion Video test: ~44.5 C The iPhone 11 never got over 45 C. For the case tests, the temperature reading was taken right after case removal. These are for the iPhone 11's (iPhone 11 Pro Max ran ~ 2 degree's cooler) UAG Monarch - 43.7 Otterbox Symmetry - 43.4, Mous Contour - 43 Razer Pro THS Edition - 42.5 Catalyst Impact Protection - 46.3 Spigen Tough Armor - 43.3 Pitaka MagCase Pro - 47.3

You have to be careful measuring temperature of shiny surfaces, as infrared gets reflected. Also iPhones gives of a lot of heat through the screen and not only from the back. You can use like piece of black tape to get a more accurate reading.

Awesome test, thanks for doing a review! While 1.5 may not be a huge change based off of your next coolest case, going from the hotter cases there’s a considerable difference. Just a couple degrees can make a big difference in long term reliability

I have the ArcTech pro because i game alot on my phone and honestly ever since I bought it I have noticed a pretty significant difference in how cool my phone stays after gaming for longer than a few minutes. My previous case my phone felt hot to the touch after 30 minutes or so and my screen would start to dim even in the highest brightness to reduce the heat being generated and ever since I got this case I havent had an issue since!
@gravitymediapro4 жыл бұрын
I’m the one who purchased the ArcTech Slim case, sight unseen from Amazon. Echoing your lack of protection concerns with this: my phone did a slide off of a couch, about three feet in the air. Landed on hard flooring, and FULL crack across the screen, starting around where the silent switch is to the bottom right.

So i just feel like i should say that the laser temp gage is actually very accurate usually. The reason it changes with the iphone and distance is because the laser isnt what it uses to measure. It basically shoots out a forever growing cone and it gets wider and takes the average temp of everything in the base of that cone. So if u hold it right up to the iphone it will be consistent. If you walk away it will get the temp of the phone and other things in that cone base

I bought the arctech pro case for my iphone 11. I must say though the lip on the screen is quite small and having a screen protector on looks like it barely cover it. Also if you’re the type that likes to switch cases this case probably not a good idea. Ive been switching cases to see how well it works cooling it but it get loose the more you open/remove phone from the case and now its quite loose inside now. Great review though.
@nayuki20202 жыл бұрын
measuring the temps on the case itself doesn't make much sense, unless we are only caring about the handling comfort what matter is actually how much heat does it take off from the phone itself (mainly, its chip)
@mrrizov933 жыл бұрын
You forgot to mention how heat affects battery, so maybe not only for performance this 1 decree will make difference (maybe in loooong period of gaming) but also its very very healthy for the battery over time. Considering you use the phone for at least a year this should turn out to be good investment for keeping that bat health at good shape. Edit: Forgot to add the main advantage for me is that it helps heat dissipation so the faster heat moves away from phone the better for battery and performance

Hello! I was wondering if you could test the incipio optum, otterbox gaming, and razer archtech pro cases on the iPhone 13 pro/pro max. Your tests and channel are amazing. Things I'm most curious about are: is less screen dimming noticed, and does it take longer when playing games like genshin impact for the screen to dim (say, to 80%). Testing the cases both with, and without low power mode on would be fantastic, as MaxTech foundd that LPM helped out with the throttling and dimming issues. I'd love to know which of those cases reduces dimming the most, and helps maintain the highest fps when gaming on things like wild rift, genshin impact, and pokemon unite.

It comes down to price. 2 degrees cooler is fantastic. Paying a huge premium for 2 degrees cooler is not. The fact no one else has cooling holes in their case is mind boggling

Dude, when I was watching you explain this for over 9 minutes or so, while making so many hand gestures by trying to explain your reviews, I felt bad for your dog every time he sees you talk. There was too much hand gestures throughout the video. For a second, with those hand movements, I thought you were going to hit your dog's head by accident with you moving your arms and hands too much by getting almost in the way of your dog. It seems like he also finds you interesting & has really invested his attention on those phone cases. Or maybe he was waiting for you to give him a treat or take him for a walk. But that doesn't matter, anyways, these are interesting points & a great insight on the two cases. I'm glad I got the Arch-tech Pro THS Edition. It works for me.

It is more better to test the heat with thermocouple..more accurate..we could find out which case could draw out the heat at the back of the phone faster then any cases.. which has better in thermal conductivity
@helljester80975 жыл бұрын
Maybe try a battery benchmark with the cases or even a performance benchmark to see if it thermal throttles after a few passes. See the linustechtips video about a “water-cooled” phone accessory to know more about what I mean. Edit: The big problem with the video is that you’re messing the temperature of the surface of the case and not the phone itself. A cold case could mean the phone is colder OR that the case is good insulator and the phone is boiling inside!

It's important for the battery life. I have the Mouse limitless 3.0 and while I love the protection sometimes I am afraid it just keeps heat,not just from gaming as I game mostly on my ipad mini5, but even from wireless charging.And I even noticed it charges slightly slower than it should after I put the case on, and when I contacted them they told me it is possible to overheat a little thus the phone slowing the charging, cuz of their case, or their case's thickness slightly slowing the charging from the Qi charger.... I am still pretty confused after the video tho I want a real good case like the limitless 3.0 that not to capture the extra heat inside or it will just ruin the battery faster...
