Just so you know, it is not cheaper/easier to do all the plastic in one piece. The cost of a mold is nothing for Razer at their scale. Its actually much harder to do it in one piece because it requires more engineering to make sure the plastic spreads throughout the whole mold and that its possible to open the mold properly so it falls out, and doesn’t get stuck or break/deform. It takes a lot more care and troubleshooting than a standard plastic mold.

I prefer how Zowie did the screwholes on the EC2-B (the original, small 4 feet version) where it's literally one screw and it is not under the mouse feet but under the barcode sticker behind the sensor. This makes it so easy to disassemble the mouse to clean (e.g. wash the outer shell under a water tap then assemble it back), so I was able to make the mouse look pristine all the time.

Currently using this mouse for a month and the big issue with it is a mouse wheel. I often get after scrolls (you scroll up 10 times, then it does 1 extra scroll after ~1 second), also when I press the mouse wheel it sometimes also does the scroll, its very annoying in games because I have grenades bound to a mouse wheel and throwing one also switching the weapon. Mouse is brand new, anything I can do here apart from returning it?

I want to know more about this hotswap socket. So you can just swap them out for a Kailh or Huano switch no problem? Does v2 pro have the same design? I agree it's strange not advertise this. I guess because it's not "user friendly" to take off the shell and perhaps voids the warranty.
@87fixxxer

No-no, you can't "hotswap" these for any mechanical switches. Only Razer's or LK's opticals are compatible. Mechanical switches have pins that are usually soldered on to PCB or paced in accommodating hotswap sockets in but a few mouse models out there, like Asus ROG Keris, Gladius or Strix Impact.

@@philipp594 Serviceability of m1/m2 clicks is paramount for mouse modders though. Many times, mouse clicks, in terms of pre and post travel are uneven between m1/m2 and often times need to be modded to get perfect and even clicks. Razer website claims DAV3 has 10h of battery life over the Viper V2 Pro at 1000hz, yet it's using the same 300mah battery and the rest of the mouse is specced pretty much identically. Software magic/slight differences in components that could make up for that improvement? Or is Razer just throwing out numbers, wouldn't put it past them given how they marketed the Orochi V2's battery life.

except the plastic rivets, everyone one of those will eventually loosen and result in either creaks, shaking noise or loose mouse clicks etc. Already an issue for me after a couple weeks of use, the RMB is loose, rattles and you can feel it moving etc when clicking. All because they didn't use a couple screws instead, so these are not built to last at all.
@fraizie6815
@fraizie6815 Жыл бұрын
I disagree on it being built cheap. When you want a lightweight ergo mouse, you have to optimize a lot of parts. Iron is heavy, that's why you have rivets. Also, from a mechanical engineering standpoint, they're very durable nonetheless. I do agree on the price being a bit too high. Though, engineering a lightweight shell and PCB costs a lot of money. Prototyping, staff salaries, etc. $160 is definitely too much. 100 - 120 would be a good deal- in the ballpark of the GPX Superlight now. But again, early adopters do pay for the engineering, too

@SDXStudio

@@timbillins1848 The original Viper, absolutely. I guess really the Ultimate if we are splitting hairs. Up until that point Razer only had a rep for producing over priced and over stylized stuff. When the VU came out UNDER what the top performing wireless mouse at the time (G Pro ) was at it was quite frankly shocking. And then to match the price but give you the feature of having a dock to charge was awesome. Then they released the VM which was a STEAL. After that, they quickly returned to their craziness by A) not releasing the VMU and B) doing shit like this, and telling us we need 8k in a mouse NOW (opposed to a few years from now when 320hz is more of a standard) and doing pretty much anything they can to justify price hikes. For a while now, consumers have been hip to companies marketing antics, which means you can't just slap a new sensor in a mouse and say the DPI has a bigger number and jack up the price, but this report rate bullshit is just more of that. People aren't going to fall for it.

We all wish it costed as cheap as it was build. 150$ mouse, 40$ dongle while both combined cost 10$ to produce. Quite ironic.

A lot of money that makes up a product goes to RnD, paying the engineers, sample testing, marketing, logistics, support, overhead, margins to design the next product, etc. It's not as simple as material cost alone.

@@paul2609 also retail cost. Big box stores are the reasons these prices exist. Between mass returns and the inevitable deep cuts for sales, they have to go $150 to avoid undercutting the whole market and taking out smaller companies. Anyone that's taken economics knows that low prices kill small business. That's how the oil market came to be what it is today. It is actually quite ethical for Razer to price their flagship mice where they have.

@@paul2609 Nice, you've read the manual. Yet everything combined is not even remotely close to the asking price. It's greed and we all know it. It's not new, it's just sad that Razer are crossing lines even beyond Finalmeme and customers have to pay that price, metaphorically. We're used to it with the "big brands" yet Razer are taking their greed to whole another level. Buying the new Basilisk V3 Pro would cost you what, nearly 300$? Buy the mouse, buy the puck, buy the charging dock, buy the dongle to "equip your mouse". If that doesn't sound outrageous to you, i don't know what does. 159.99$ + 19.99$ + 69.99$ + 29.99$? Bruh.

@@Divinity_vA I think you misunderstood something about the charging dock If you look at it on their website it says the dock comes with a Wireless Charging puck and integrated 4k Hz receiver for the price of $69.99 and they have a deal where you can get that with a Basilisk V3 Pro for the total of $199.99. The $30 4k Hz receiver they sell is only compatible with the Vv2 pro and DAv3 pro currently, which honestly should have been included on the release with every unit even if it hiked the price up $10-$15. finalmeme bleeds you out of $189.99 for a mouse shell. Other than that their mice internals aren't any more special than a $80 Glorious model O/O-. in fact, they're worse because it doesn't have software to change DPI, debounce, LOD, make macros, profiles, or update the firmware. Instead, they make you jump through hoops just to change LOD and update the firmware and your stuck with the four DPI settings they give you.

@@Dwellic Good take overall. As for the total price, not everyone is from the US and/or willing to buy the product from Razer directly. I doubt these "bundles" are going to be viable option for customers that buy off Amazon or locally. Also, reading "4K dongle is Razer store exclusive" is nothing short of disappointing. I don't trust Razers Customer Support and i don't want to deal with it myself if anything happens so i'd much rather buy locally and have my local store do it, but they give you no such option with the dongle - bummer.
