Yess I went back to grease about 2 or 3 years ago blue magic but the dark green kind. It helps my hair stay moisturized longer. I just got to get better at taking care of it. I've been at mid back length for a while now. My focus is on the front and edges had a bad sew in 😤

I remember watching natural hair care videos and they said grease is bad for the hair so I threw them out. Then I remember my childhood and my hair was never dry when my mom put it in my hair (and my hair was long). Everyone’s hair is different, but if you have 4c hair , grease is the way to go to seal up moisture.

@@MsJP if you want to seal moisture in the hair, I’d suggest spraying your hair with a moisturizer or water first and then greasing it to lock in the moisture. You may not need to grease it 3 times a day, but I know everyone’s hair is different so do what fits best with your hair.

I'm loving these comments. I knew I wasn't crazy. I've been sliding back into just grease and simple "old school" products for the last few weeks. I kept thinking didn't these things always grow my hair when I was younger. Didn't the simple routine grow my hair, and from what my Mom told me, simple grease(sometimes even lard) grew her and her sisters' (and her brother's😁) hair long. The natural hair community got us all hyped and mixed up with all these extensive/elaborate hair care routines with a ridiculous number of products. Trying to convince us more is better, when we have often experienced, less is truly more.

I am so glad somebody finally said it. Growing up as a child and having an afro in the 70s and 90s, all natural, all I ever used was something called Bergamot (it was blue) sparingly, and I washed my hair every two weeks because you didnt want to dry out the natural oils. All this pre-poo, post-poo, three sets of guck people are doing to natural hair is quite unnecessary. Leave-ins are only needed for processed, relaxed hair.

Girl, I been trying to tell people, dollar tree is your friend. Or a low cost beauty supply store. All you need is grease or cheap oil to seal in the moisture of the conditioner. If you want more definition for a wash and go, find a cheap gel. I only use gel every now and then. If your hair is moisturized properly, you don’t even need a gel. I only spend 5 dollars a month on hair products. These natural hair KZbinrs will have you spending 10s of hundred on products they don’t even use🙄

@@serenityjohnson7528 I only moisturized maybe once a week if that. I wore wigs literally a whole year straight . I would take them down and put another on.I didn’t wanna see my hair until it grew. The blue magic(blue) grease stopped the itching and dryness so I didn’t feel a need to put anything on it as far as moisture. It lasts a long time I swear lol. Too much moisture in my opinion seems to slow the growth down but not using much worked for me. A protective style is key if you’re trying to grow your hair. Put all the moisture u desire the first time then let it work. If you have done the big chop already go ahead and grease it down lol and leave it be. I promise In a years time your hair will be so thick and those curls will come thru !! I hope this helps . Less is best and leave it be .

I like to use a shampoo that has plenty of leather to give you a good slip especially a clarifying shampoo to make sure my hair is definitely clean on the inside and my scalp or sometimes I do a detoxing cleansing for my hair because just plain water is not going to get it

A good shampoo/conditioner and top it off with grease or oil is the best. The natural hair community should of been back to the basics yearssss ago.

I think, because the natural hair community was dominated by those with a looser curl pattern for a while (3a-3c/maybe 4A) and grease isn’t as great for those curl types, (because it’s too heavy for them, as well as a lot of people seemed to be layering products incorrectly, which caused the grease to lock moisture out of DRY hair,) Grease has become this demonized product. But I’ve realized lately I need to ignore certain things that the “natural hair community” preaches. I’m going back to grease, my mom and dad knew what they were doing.

Exactly. I'd say grease is made for 4b-c hair, it's always the other hair types that complain about grease.

Gorgeous hair. Wow! Don't see this type of hair much. It's unusual, in its own class. I thinking, plenty of people probably think your hair is fake, when you wear it out. Lovely hair. You were born with that though. The pomades that you're using, is just moisturizing, I think.

Do you re-moisturize your hair days after your wash day or only during wash day? I’ve heard that grease is a thick sealant which doesn’t allow the absorption of other products after it has been applied to the hair hence why am asking. After a week my hair feels dry and I want to re-moisturize but I am scared to do so in case I am just wasting hair products.

I don't have a problem re-moisture my hair after wash days. Use water first to dampen your hair, then a moisturizer then rub a little grease in the palm of your hand. I moisturize/seal in sections. This helps alot so you won't have buildup from the grease. Use clarifying shampoos or sulfate shampoo once or twice a month. Grease causes buildup.
