I repeatedly exclaimed, "That's so cool!" out loud while watching this video, these are exactly the kind of things that I personally am looking for in a modern foldable phone. I'm really excited by this and I hope they can continue to lead the charge in pushing the envelope on what these folding phones can do. I feel like other foldables so far have kind of been playing it very safe, while also massively inflating their prices. The fact that this one can do all of this for a thousand bucks seems very reasonable to me compared to other foldables on the market. And the fact that they are also releasing a less fancy and cheaper foldable is also really cool because it provides an entry point for more people to get into foldables and also hopefully will challenge some of the other players in the foldable game to think about what they're charging for their foldables. Kind of like what Google have been doing with their A-series Pixel phones. So yeah, I'm all for this.

You could also just use a smart watch instead. I don't think it needs a big screen on the outside. It needs a durable screen on the inside. If it's big enough for some basic features like read messages and show notifications it's enough. If you're gonna do more than that, you can flip the phone open.

I did get this phone because of the outside screen so I'm glad it all got fixed quickly. Camera quality is not the best in dark, but its great in light, love it for selfies at x0.5. Battery life for myself is great, I go trough the day without a problem, but I have to charge it every night (kinda normal nowdays even tho my last phone motrola edge plus lasted me for 2-3 days lol), I'm mostly using outside screen so I can't tell how long you can go if you use only inside screen but I can tell you that my outside screen lasts longer than my sister's iphone 14pro. I have dropped it few times and my cat has pushed it from the tall table few times and it has no scratch, I do use the case that came with a phone and have a plastic screen protector for outside screen. All I have to say about the phone is if you are looking for a change, something more fun than a regular phone, and you've been waiting some time for flip phones to develop, this is definitlly the best it can be, very fun to use, people always comment about it, asks to open, hold it lol. It made my phone experience very fun to use and I don't think I will ever go to reglar/brick phone back. tip if you get this phone that I use everyday: double shake to turn on the flash lite, and flip the phone to turn on the camera, works every time, motorola has that for long time

That was so nice at the time. Nothing was as premium looking in comparison IMO. This was a time when Nokia was still extremely popular, and weren’t making very bold designs like this. Also, the Razr V3 actually had iTunes built in too. Like 4-5 years before they would release the iPhone. A lot of people watching this video might be too young to remember how cool it was back then.

For those that aren't into the larger form factors of the Z folds or even the Pixel Fold, they now have a foldable that offers similar type functionality in a much more compact design. I've said in my videos reviewing the Razr 5g vs the Z flip 3 and 4 that the outer display on the Razr was a huge advantage due to its functionality. Moto making the outer display bigger convinces me that they understand that they have a leg up on the competition with that feature alone. The Razr Plus featuring the 8 gen 1 soc will be a non factor as the average Consumer seemingly doesn't pay attention to such details. I'm very curious to see what the Z flip 5 has in store. And the options they are leaving for the premium plus version and the regular razr is a good move on their part. Price is not as expensive as I thought either. I feel like the plus version is their take on instead of creating a hot dog productivity device, they're leaving these small screen options for your productivity and adding to a smaller form factor. The front screen does feel a bit gimicky though, and like you said, the barrier to stop you from drowning in that dopamine spiral is not really there. It's a tradeoff between looking cool and getting addicted. I would probabaly get the regular model if I could because during these times another gimmick becomes another distraction in this case. I love that that I can message with full keyboard without having to open the phone! The weight distribution makes a lot of sense and kinda reminds me of those small form factor phones we used to use back in the day but with better design and functionality. I might actually consider this! Currently on Pixel 7.

This is exactly what I envisioned when folding phones were being considered. Why wouldn't you want a smaller screen to do something quick rather than accessing the full unfolded display. I am a huge fan of this design!

I actually love this implementation. I'd set it up to do everything productive on the outside display, but require opening for anything time waste-y. My only hangup is the 1080p inside display, I love tiny display scaling so that I can fit TONS of stuff onscreen at once, but that really only works with 1440p

this cover screen is just amazing, now if only they also started making the slide up phones and maybe smaller screens too

Bruhh slide ups are the best. They have to bring those back, imagine a touchscreen LG Chocolate.

Big outer screen's a great idea, but what I'm really looking for in the future of foldable phones is a sturdy inner screen. I love my "hotdog-style" ZFold. I've played entire music gigs off it and did my last semester of undergrad pretty much entirely on it. However, the inner screen no longer works, which is a huge bummer, so I'm definitely waiting to see manufacturers either rethink having screens along the hinge or make a point of marked improvements to longevity of folding screens before I consider an upgrade over a repair.

It's a great phone. I just got mine over the weekend in Viva Magenta. I love it! My dad who is 76 has only owned flip phones and is considering this one to be his first flip/ smartphone.

Has the magenta got pink tones like the pictures of it?
