One more thing to look out for when setting maximum steering lock is to check what actually stops wheel from turning further - it can be an a-arm, drive-shaft binding, or lower shock parts, so you may need to decrease D/R even more to prevent random wheel lock ups at full turn. Good idea to start this series of videos - keep them coming! :)

Awesome job Vas! This will become my favorite segment fast. Even though I have been in the hobby for a touch over 4 years now I have struggled with some of the adjustments that todays modern radios are capable of. I have dyslexia which make reading directions somewhat difficult, people with Dyslexia are very visual.. meaning seeing something demonstrated is much easier to understand then reading directions for the same thing. The way you showed how to do this makes sense to me now a lot more than trying to read the directions on how to set steering dual rates. if you can continue to show and demonstrate the adjustments and tips and tricks for various RC things you will make my world much easier. and I also just wanted to say thank you very much for everything you do for this Hobby and everything you do for the people that enjoy this Hobby if you're truly a good dude.

Good work Vas The other way I use is, you is can hear the servo straining if the rate is too far. A little harder for you to demonstrate on camera, but hey as you said you never stop learning, and I've never used your method so new tip for new! Thanks Garszy

Oops, the wife stripped the servo on her crawler but it was a cheap plastic geared servo. Will set up the rates when i change it. Fantastic tip ,youve probably saved a lot of money for people.

You can also listen to the servo. On full turn, with properly set dual rates, servo should stop rotating. Another words, at full lock, the servo shouldn't be making any noise (some digital servo still chatter but it's a different sound than when it's actually rotating).

I purchased an Axial Wraith Spawn and didn't know that turning dual rate up all way could and WOULD damage my steering servo that hasn't even seen dirt yet... guess what it fried it by over working the internal gears so it stripped, now I have a Savox 1256tg high torque(277oz.inches torque) servo. Lesson learned on dual rate

Great video I've been in the Hobby little bit over five years and never had anyone explain that quite as well as you did also a quick question on most of the larger scale nosy vehicles there's always a problem with turning to the right turning to the left is fine but turning to the right socks with changing the steering servo to a more powerful one fix that issue or do you have another idea please let me know?

On the Rocksta it has an electronic adjustment, how would that work ? Doesn't give you a visible marker to tell When the effectiveness ends. Thanks for the help on some of my other radios though.

Nice vid Vas, correct me if i'm wrong but I've always been told that you have the R/C on the ground when doing dual rates as the weight can play a factor?

I don;t think that's right, because if you do this with the tyres on the ground in a stationary position, what happens when the car is moving? The tyres will turn even more, right?! Doing this with the tyres off the ground means you know exactly where the turning angle limit is and once the tyres are on the ground you know that it will not exceed that limit regardless.

Very true i agree when you put it that way. i was just curious because I've heard it from a few people. (I'm in the process of having to do this at the moment) so I've gone out of my way to look at peoples methods, but with anything in R/C you're going to get a 1000 different ways and all are the "right way". As i mentioned though i agree with you. :).

If that's the case, then it would explain all the blown servos I keep seeing on Facebook. Never set your dual rates to max unless you have the ability to first adjust end points on your remote.

I see theres no really new posts so I'll just say you're wrong, sorry bud. That's the steering sensitivity, used, so when you're at speed it wont be as reactive to any steering input. Dual rate refers to having a switch you flick to either be in a high rate or low rate. Ie you can override things to give you a greater steering throw with the switch one way or less throw when it's set the other way. Good idea to not burn out servos, however if your "end point" is correctly set, you'll be fine. Hope you're doing well.

Thanks for your input, however, you seemed to have misunderstood what I did or what the knob on the remote that says "D/R" actually means - it means dual rates. Dual rates are not defined specifically by a switch, you can have it on a knob or even on a slider (if your radio has one). In this case, this radio did not have EPA, so I explained that you can set the limit of your steering angle by reducing you steering dual rates. You may say I'm wrong all you want, but going by all other comments I've received over the years about this video and the 20+ years I've been in this hobby, I'm quite comfortable in leaving the video as it is. This video has even been promoted and shared by ARRMA themselves. Do you think they would do that is I was wrong? 😏

All I'll say is in my also 25+ yrs of rc cars and planes predominantly, I have only ever seen or known of dual rates as being as stated. Dual meaning two and rates being of travel and, or servo speed. By definition there has to be a way of switching between dual rates. The knob you were moving I have on my bcd racing truck. It just controls the sensitivity, so you have better control at speed. By all accounts looking at other posts, you've helped a few ppl so for that I commend you but I'll still disagree in my opinion, I really urge you to consider what "dual" means with respect to this.
