I've never run a leaf sprung vehicle, either 1:1 or 1:10, but after watching the Jeep, the Honcho's performance seemed less realistic than what I'd expect to see from a pickup truck. RC4WD makes a leaf spring conversion kit for the Gelande II chassis, and I've been wondering if I'd enjoy the Cruiser more as a more scale-accurate, leaf sprung rig. Definitely got me thinking. 👍🏼
@2krcbackroads4217 жыл бұрын
Thinking is trouble in this hobby John...as it usually costs you big $...ha ha. Seriously though, if you have patience and like a challenge, a leaf sprung rig is a blast. You are somewhat limited in total climbing capability when compared to a linked rig...but that would be climbing steep comp type stuff only. Decisions, decisions. Thanks for stopping by and for the comment!

2KRCBACKROADS Oh, man, you stated some truth! Hahaha... Yeah, I'm in no hurry, and most likely I'll hold off, because I might eventually get a TF2, which would satisfy any leaf spring interests. Peace.
@TheBackpackcountry6 жыл бұрын
As a guy who runs 1:1 fullsize f150 I see them as an entry level trophy truck sort of class. they are what I would run Ideally, but certainly do run significantly different than a true pickup setup. I think they don't anticipate most people really wanting True to scale feeling, but want more ease of driving. That being said I wish Axial made a leaf spring conversion kit for them. Maybe complete with another bit you could buy to make undersprung springs on the axles and long travel droop. that would be really cool.

I have a land cruiser with a lift that I can put the tire 3 1/2 feet in the air with the other three on the ground and it is leaf sprung. Leaf springs work just fine as far as travel. I'm not trying to argue I'm just saying that leaf springs can travel
@2krcbackroads4217 жыл бұрын
That is some serious travel...and I agree with you. You can get some serious flex from modified leaf sprung rigs. This was just a quick vid showing what you get with a typical "stock" leaf sprung RC rig and how it flexes similar to a stock 1:1 rig. I think with a multi-link rig sometimes you get too much travel....

Nice flexing with the leads and the honcho. Great video.

I totally get it man.. as a guy who has 3 Scx10 link rigs , Wroncho and an ax10 crawler I try to do what a leaf rig does. it looks good, but its not true flex. i guess i go after performance a little more than scale. thanks for sharing bud and that is a great looking. Thanks for sharing brother.. 👍😊
@2krcbackroads4217 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nick!! I love running my SCX10's too! The drive with the two different suspension setups is so different...for me it kinda depends on the mood I'm in. All the best to you up in the NE part of the Country! Thanks for stoppy by!

Looks GREAT! You're right. Leafs (at least in the rear), is like a lot of 1:1 Rigs.... They look fantastic, drives, and has limitations like, the real thing! So they make a great Sim Exercise, should you be inclined to take a real Rig on the rocks. OR ~ if you CAN'T go crawling, for whatever reason, you can have a very Scale Like run in 1/10th Scale! However, a high performance 1:1 Rig - WILL probably have long coilovers and a 4-link suspension. It won't be stock, or even near stock, BUT, the 4-Linked RC Rigs DO actually represent their real counterparts. Just at a budget that few can afford in full scale!! 😁 👍 👍 With that - Man! You've REALLY got that TF2 DIALED!! Very impressive. Murph
@2krcbackroads4217 жыл бұрын
Murph, I agree with all that you said. A scale run in 1/10 is exactly why I like this hobby! To be honest, we are very lucky to have such high quality rigs available...the hobby has come so far in the last 20 years. Thanks for such a great comment...hearing from people such as yourself make this hobby and KZbin channel all worth it! All the best to you! - TK
@jamurphy83867 жыл бұрын
TK, I agree with you! The evolution of this Hobby over the past 15-20 years is what got my best friend back in, then me. In the 80's and 90's, we raced locally and Bashed everywhere! What we had, were pretty good for the time...... but my friend, Carmine, called our Truggies - MOON BUGGIES!!! 😲 With their Gawdawful bodies, and tires sitting about 2 scale feet BESIDE the fenders, I saw his point. There was very little lighting, and almost no interiors - not even Drivers 90% of the time. 😕 So, absolutely! R/C today has definitely caused both of us to fall back in love with this Hobby! I believe it's more fun today than it ever was. Murph

Its realistic yeah but i like to have a lot of suspension flex. On my axial scx10 i have 120 mm shocks on it so it does pretty good
@2krcbackroads4215 жыл бұрын
The SCX10 does have a ton of flex. I prefer a more scale look most of the time...but like you, I like to run with max flex as well. It just kinda depends on my mood that particular day. Thanks for stopping by the channel and leaving a comment!

Does any one produce a CJ grill for this body?
@2krcbackroads4217 жыл бұрын
Not anything mainstream that I know of. A CJ body or at least a grill would be cool. I would think a custom 3D printed grill has to be swimming around ebay somewhere.... Thanks for stopping the by the channel!

Flex? You mean articulation...flex is when the chassis actually twists...chassis flex is what cracks the front windshield....
