So I just bought one of these Trucks and priced up all of the upgrades mentioned in this video - which seem to be pretty much required for bashing longevity. It’s over $300 worth of parts!! Not including the servo and the wheel nuts. Man that’s insane. The drive shafts are ridiculously expensive as is the chassis brace. It’s going to hurt handing over that much money for those parts - those half a dozen parts are worth half the value of the truck!! I wish there was a cheaper supplier of Hobao parts in Australia...

You could try to make a couple of lines of fishing line around the tires, and glue that on the tire. That should make for a belted like tire, but you don't have to unglue and glue the tire like when you tape them. And if the line snaps, you can easily replace it, unlike tape, and it is lighter.

Ruud sounds like a very time consuming and tedious thing to do.

It's not that bad, it takes way less time then taping, I think about 10 minutes per tire?

It was such a pain in the ass putting those rear CVDs in. Had to take apart the entire rear end for those drive cups. It's wasn't easy getting the rear to sit back in. Now I'm having trouble getting the hubs apart. The damn nut that the tire screws onto won't come off.

Ok well, agree to disagree. I personally enjoy watching build videos. I don't own this truck. It is simply a matter of liking to see the RC being worked on, if that is what the title implies. There are other people that do enjoy the same thing. It's simply a matter of opinion and opinions are also a part of people commenting on videos. They are going to state their opinion and that is what I did. Cool RC, looking forward to seeing it run.

Awesome vid. I do rather like the look of this truck. As far as the ESC goes, it looks like a rebranded Hobbywing QuickRun and 6v is the max for the BEX. Only the MAX8, 6 and 5 have the option to up the voltage.

Tim Ritchie those servos are now AU$40 for the 180 degree ones and AU$50+ for the 360 degree ones. Wish I could have bought a bunch of them at US$13!!

hey vas real nice video & info on your upgrades, i have a nero with the smart diff, i upgraded it to a 21t pinion an put on some onroad wheels an tires. i was wondering what diff oil setup should i install for strictly onroad speed runs ?

I don't use any oil in mine, I only do my speed runs with the centre diff locked and that's enough. I believe that if you put oil in the diffs, they will leak. But I have heard of people modifying their diffs so the oil doesn't leak. Not sure how they do it, though.

There is something i don't understand between your unboxing video of this truck and this video. In your unboxing video you say this truck come with universal drvie shaft on all 4 corners (16:55 in the unboxing video). So why do you have to upgrade DOG BONE on rear now?!? Is it the sport plus? as it has the sport plus body i think that yes.

+Rc addict Hmm, seems like I made a mistake there. Definitely didn't have universal driveshafts at the rear. Why I said it had them on all four corners, I have no idea... must've had a brain fart. Sorry.

I just check the exploded view on the hobao website and this confrim dog bone on rear. Add an annotation on your unboxing video to correct that, that would be nice.. When i see the initial price of this truck and the upgrades this truck need i think it become too expensive for what it offer.

The hex drivers are from MIP and I got them from Tower Hobbies. I bit more expensive than most, but very, very good quality.

SWorkz Fox 4x4, LC Racing Truggy Truggy or Monstertruck and Mali racing DF models Desert Truggy 4 are probaly your best Options. i hope i was able to help ; )

Build videos are boring as all hell, I personally hate watching them. So I'm not going to upload a 2-3 hour video of me tearing down and rebuilding a RC, it will just put people to sleep. I prefer working on the RC in my own time, showing you the end results, talking you through the process and pointing out any issues I had. Quick, simple and to the point. Furthermore, this truck comes with a very good user manual that will help you work on it should you need to, you don't need me to do a step by step video on it.
