Hope you enjoy this VLOG of the event. I'll post up some videos of the A-MAIN races over the next few days. I was able to get a few full races on video for you to watch, hopefully better quality than was shown on liveRC stream. Thanks for watching!

Yes its a very step learning experience. I have been at a few large races and most people/pros will help you& and give you feedback. So at this race there is a lot of pro& sponsor racers that have raced for years with alot of experience. So dont get discouraged. Have fun! And even if you came in last .....racing is better then not racing at all. By the way thanks for taking time to make this video.

Great video John and a great look at the race from a newcomer's perspective. All good tips too. That said, I ran USGT, 17.5 TC and Mod TC all weekend. I didn't clean my tires once, and generally do not. Different strokes for different folks.

Thanks Richard. I used brand new tires and I didn’t believe cleaning them would matter, it was a night and day difference. Once fully broken in you don’t need to do it as often it seems, but for new tires I’m definitely going to carry brake cleaner with me from now on.

😁👍Good stuff! Yes these top racers get any part or do anything to get that little extra advantage to make them go faster. I think I told ya before about 1UP racing the bearing oil they have if you use it and put like 2 to 3 drops in on the bearings you have if they are clean it frees them up and they spin like crazy a good advantage for racing.. you should try it out.
@netcruzer
@netcruzer 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah a friend of mine got a bottle at the event. It’s also a good idea to degrease them first. Then add a bit of the really good oil. 👍
@ShenRC
@ShenRC 5 жыл бұрын
@@netcruzer Yes you can do that also I use a RPM bearing blaster it works real good... but for most times I just add the oil if the bearings are clean it thins out the grease and they still spin up good I am not a racer so it perfect for a basher get a bit of both qualities in the bearings 😁👍I like to do my fishing reel bearing makes them much more easy and spin longer much better when fishing.

Awesome event en very good video. Talking about the insane amounts of cash some people are dumping into this RC hobby. I used to race electric off shore RC boats in the past, on an international level. Many people were buying like 200 lipo batteries for a world chamionship and put them to the test to select the 5 best out of the whole bunch capacity and internal resistance wise. Same with motors, buying a couple dozen LMT Lehner and NEU motors and again select the single best for the race. I'm talking thousands of dollars here just to try and gain 1 second every lap. Crazy.

Glad you learned a lot from the race John. It will be awesome watching you get faster now that you're learning setup and gear is key. Better get to work on your tekno cause I'm going all out on her this year ;)

If you run sedan, do the different bodies handy differently? It seems like most of the sedans are so similar you wouldn't gain much but just curious what you used. Looks like an amazing event. Much bigger than anything around my parts.
@netcruzer
@netcruzer 5 жыл бұрын
They do, but it’s a bit more subtle difference for sedan. Depending on how front or rear is moulded they can have more or less downforce in front or rear. I saw quite a few of my Protoform Type S bodies at this event. I didn’t drive any others.

USGT has a wider range of style, but they are tending towards very ‘slippery’ non scale hypercar bodies lately. I don’t like this trend. My AMG GT3 was well liked and commented about at the event, because it’s a real GT car and looks Scale. However it’s heavy and not as fast as the new USGT race bodies that don’t look as nice (IMO). I’d prefer if USGT stays scale production GT car bodies.
@miles_racing24

Bodies actually make a HUGE difference. A body could change from your car handling well to handling like crap. Johns body is the most popular for black carpet currently, the protoform type s. I like the d9, it tends to have a little less downforce on the rear and more up front, which allows the back end to kick out some, and it helps me get though the tight chicanes really fast.

How do u get up on that high drivers stand if ur in a wheelchair? I guess I'd just be screwed
@netcruzer

Unfortunately I think it would be drive from the floor. A serious disadvantage and an area that could be improved.
@richardswindells2093

Previously they have made provisions for a raised stand for a driver in a wheelchair. Not as tall as the stand shown in the video, but certainly well raised off the floor. I'm sure if there was a need and the organizers were informed, they'd make provisions.

Ryan Franco_Team Powers Driver I don’t remember what happened to miss Qual 3. Qual 4 I stripped the spur gear (it was damaged but holding on the grey oval, but I did a burnout on black to get tires ready to race and that killed the spur) whoops!
