About the 11min recording issue a user on YT posted that he bought the same monitor at Gearbest. And this one doesnt stop recording at 11min. I have tried to get this firmware from Gearbest with no success! Maybe someone else can try it too! Well, thanks for the review. I've decided to buy this monitor system. Got the 5802D version as it cost $95 at Banggood, was almost bought the 5802S (non dvr version) for $87, but then why not add $8 for additional dvr system :-)

I've got the non DVR version of this - its a pretty good unit and does well. Little things need to be fixed, like the volume should be off by default, so you don't shit your pants for the first time when you turn it on. Also, imo the bad should be long end open, so that you can put the bag on when mounted to receiver.

Hi Lee. Hope all is well there. Is there a way to change the date on the monitor. When I record a flight it always saves the file as 1969-12-31. Any help would be appreciated.

Notice: If the monitor can't record the PAL format video, please update it as follow: 1. Download the file: LSTERJRM.bin and put it inTF card 2. Turn on the monitor, it will auto update as the video shows. If the image ratio is wrong,please power on the camera before you turn on the monitor. Bacause the format of monitor is auto switch, if you turn on the monitor first, it might wouldn't match the camera.

Nice review. I ordered one of these for the sole purpose as a buddy screen for friends to fly along while I fly my quads theu my fatsharks and possibly some KZbin live fly alongs. Hopefully this will suit my needs. I didn’t want to buy something to cheap. But I don’t want to break the bank either.

Thx for the review. Would you recommend using this screen as a primary diversity receiver for a ground station? Will it be equal or better than the stock attitude receiver? Having diversity would be my primary wish, followed by the screen, and then the dvr is nice, but the least important to me. Is there any issue with aspect ratio as the screen looks 16:9 and attitudes are 4:3? I assume stretching the image to 16:9 occurs in the lcd screen and not in the receiver.

Depends on the camera, I never use 16:9 HD cameras as FPV feeds - too much lag. Happy flying!

Thx for the review. can i use this just as a screen/monitor for my 2.4ghz fpv system and also record with the built in dvr? I also have 5.8ghz fpv, therefore its interesting. l've read that the dvr only record for about 13 minutes, is that true? If so its not any good for long range recordings.

Did they fix the issue with the power button and the sun shade? On my 32 chan version without the DVR, the sun shade would sometimes press the power button when you closed it up. I had to file off the plastic there to prevent it.

Used this on the usual spot I fly but it can only pick up signal as far as 2km away. I use 1w VTX. However, the aomway diversity receiver I have used, can pick up signal as far as 10km away.

Check any adapters and antennas you're using (see my antenna lab series). Some of these older products used less sensitive receivers than more modern ones. Happy flying!

Thank you for making this video. I purchased one of these recently and record all my flights using it primarily to help me in a lost model situation. I really like the ease of use and quality of the video it both displays and records in NTSC. The only drawback I have found so far is that it has a very short internal battery life when recording. From fully charged I can only get around 20 minutes of recording before the battery goes flat. I will be looking into making a cable like you did to power it externally in the field.As for your PAL format issue Eachine has come out with a firmware update to help deal with the PAL problem. If you look on the Bang Good site it describes how to apply the update and has a link to it. I hope this helps.

I tend to always use an external 2700mah 3s pack with it and it lasts the flight day, also allows me to use a spare flight pack if that gets low too. Happy flying!

Hi Lee, I pre-ordered one of these a few months ago. I've been delighted with mine since it arrived. Like you I did find the SMA connectors a bit of a pain but quickly bought some adaptors. Thanks to your video I will now change the sockets. I find the DVR quality far better than the DVR on my Fat Shark Dominator HD V2's. It's never going to be HD quality but is quite acceptable to upload to You Tube. I use mine with a skew and one of the supplied whip antennas and this works well for me. I always fly on goggles but this is good for model set up to ensure no sneaky error messages disappear before you get the goggles on and to allow others to see what you are up to. All in all I thoroughly recommend this product.

Nice to hear you agree. This is our favourite screen at the moment and has pipped the Black Pearl from the top spot (that should have had a DVR too - I mentioned that in the review video from years ago!). Happy flying!

I recently picked up the non DVR version of this screen and I'm liking it so far. One question for you. When you use the search function while in diversity mode does your screen tune both RX's? On mine, the only way to get the diversity to work, you have to go to RX "A" and select the correct freq then switch to RX "B" and do the same. Then when in diversity mode it will choose between them. If I only do the search in diversity mode it seems to only tune one of the RX's so it will never switch between RX's

Are you sure you're in Diversity mode on it? Ours here doesn't work that way and you set the band/channel only once..

Painless360 hiya lee iv come across a video about diy pagoda antenna and the video gives a link to the pagoda kit's on the genuine site and you can Bay a diy kits a 50 antenna package for $50 with every thing in the package to make up 50 antennas yourself but I'm not sure if it sounds to good to be true lee lol but I saved the video and the link below take you to pagoda website and seems genuine have you ever seen videos on these large pagoda diy kit's lee

Would you mind sharing where you got the female SMA connectors that you mentioned. I also only have SMA antennas and want to change the screen to accept those instead of fiddling with adapters, but can't seem to find any that have the same solder connections.

I did ask on HPIGuys video of this screen but never got an answer. Do you know if the DVR in it is capable of recording video from the A/V input? It's the only thing stopping me from getting one at the moment. I fly both 1.3 and 5.8 and it would be nice if this could record from my 1.3 receiver plugged into it aswell as the built in diversity receiver.

I just tested recording using the A/V in on my monitor and it worked. I connected a security camera to the monitor using the supplied video cable that came with the monitor and an RCA cable and I was able to record both a video image and take a picture using the monitor. I did not try recording audio as the camera I was testing with doesn't do audio but I imagine it would work if you needed it to.

Not sure - we've not played with the FR632 yet. All gound Based DVRs are 'average' IMHO as they record the image after all the damage from the reception and compression.. Happy flying!

The PAL issue is on the screen and on the video recorded on the DVR too. There may be an updated firmware but I've accepted this. The only other problem is that the internal battery does seem to discharge over time too so you'll need to top it up before using..

Yes, there is a new firmware published after the date of your review. Can you please update your FPV monitor and let us know if the PAL issue is solved with the new firmware? Here is how to update the firmware: 1. Download the file (files.banggood.com/2016/08/5802D%20Updata20160801.zip), extract it. Inside is single file with name: LSTERJRM.bin 2. Copy this in root directory of good verified MicroSD card. 3. Put card into LCD monitor, start it. 4. It will autofind and update firmware - after finished - it writes Firwmware update OK . 5. Stop LCD and start again, now you have latest firmware.

Why not rig up a neck sling and chest rack so the display will hang from the neck and be seen simply by looking downward slightly while allowing one to easily go back to looking directly at the aircraft?

Personally I hate neck slings and lanyards. It's a personal thing. Instead we created a mount for the Taranis for it. You can find it on Thingiverse. Happy flying!

The receiver in it is a 5.8Ghz FPV receiver setup. You'd need something else for it to see 'wifi' video signals..

Eachine TX03 running at 50/200mW, will this LCD be able to catch the signal from the camera at a range of 500m? I am new to FPV and looking at some help... have zero clue on whether range is dependent on the camera transmitter or the monitor with 5.8 Ghz receiver.

Those connectors are RP-SMA, far more common than SMA (fatshark type), many of the Chinese companies began to make stuff with SMA alongside their normal RP-SMA for compatibility with FS/Immersion and the like (your blue SMA Aomway 4 lobe for example) My opinion is that as RP-SMA is far more commonly found then that probably the smartest way to go with antenna
