That chip tray is way better than my tin foil. Great set up. I just got the Cutter upgrade to trim, chamfer, and deburr at the same time. I think I’ll try it tonight. I love the trimmer, but your set up is next level.

Thanks! You want one of those chip trays? I can fire up the printer and send one your way! I’m excited to see how the 3 way cutter works out for you. Lemme know if you want me to print a chip tray! Uncle Jim can get us in touch with each other.

I would love one, but you don’t have to do that. The more I use that three way trimmer, the more I like it. It works awesome. I just need time to edit the video, hopefully by this weekend.

Great set-up TinMan. I’ve used the trim/chamfer/de-bur 3-way tool on mine, but never tried neck turning. Good job on the plate, the brass trimmings tray and the drill block. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

Thanks, Walter! Yeah, those 3 way cutters look really neat. I’ll have to pick a couple of those up!

Should work fine for neck turning…the shell plate does a much better job keeping the brass from spinning than the hand tool 👍. I tried getting my lyman setup with a drill and it wouldn’t hold…maybe that 3D sled for the drill helps.
@TinManReloading9 ай бұрын
Yeah, the hand tool is hard to get tight enough. Especially with short 300BLK brass. Time will tell if the set screws move or not. That’s what I’m worried about too. Thanks, Cranky 👍🏻

I bet that stainless steel countertop was a bear to drill through. I really like my Rcbs universal case trimmer too. I just wish I could get ahold of the super duper aftermarket cutter head. I believe I dulled the original cutter from trimming down 308 Winchester to resize into 35 Remington cases. I have put my trimmer through HE 🏒🏒 from day one of owning it. With big batches of 223/556x45 and 308/7.62x51 I also trim my pistol cases as well. I have also turned some 556 and 9mm cases into jackets for a full metal jacket projectile. And that requires heavy trimming procedures. It still works but it’s definitely not as crisp as it was when it was new. At the end of the day the RCBS universal trimmer is a solid and good investment.

The stainless is only 20 gauge so it wasn’t too terrible, but drilling stainless always sucks. Lol. They make a super duper cutter head? Are they hard to find? I’m impressed that you’ve done that much on the original! Thanks, Johnny 👍🏻
@thorsaxe58819 ай бұрын
Hey Kurt, Wow... going back through from when you first started hand crafting ammo. So, Ya, I believe that the RCBS is one of the best and the way you have it set up is for a no nonsense way of doing the job. The only thing I have to give in my (Opinion) is.. with production cut cambers there is a tolerance that casts a wide net and all the work that goes into neck turning and tweaking really does not have a positive return on accuracy. It will not make a difference to make a difference because of the wiggle room so that the chamber fits all the makes of ammunition manufactures ammo. anyway (Don't get crazy with production rifles) anyway, great video!! Peace out dude. - Dave

Crazy how we progress, isn’t it? Lol. Thanks, Dave. The only reason I neck turn my 300BLK brass is when you convert them from 223 cases, they can be too thick to chamber reliably with oversized cast bullets. I turn them down to .011-.012” thickness. Some cases are .014-.015” thick on the body and that’ll jam up the works in a jiffy. I learned that the hard way. Haha.

The universal shell holder is pretty awesome. It holds it tight enough for trimming. We’ll see about neck turning. Thanks, UJ. Just watched your vids you put up today. Busy beaver!

I have the Trim Pro original that uses shell plates.... I use the 3 way cutters that are available they trim, chamfer and debur at the same time. It is the best thing since sliced bread! They are a tad pricey but if you keep your eyes open you can catch one for less then 1/2 price every now and then.

I was eyeballing those earlier today. Yeah, they want some coin for those. I’ll keep my eyes peeled. Thanks, Les!
