JBL's are just over the top with the bass. EV knows how to create a full sound emphasis on the mids and highs. Resulting in a beautiful sound.

The EV are a absolute beast! Brought out in 2008! Had no upgrades and still the class leader in ABS cabs. RCF are on mark 4 and still not as loud or good. I had the 745 and TT's mark 2 (wooden cabs) both not as loud as the EV....
@disbjohn4 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are some of the loudest abs cabs. Not for the novice users since it doesn’t have any limiters built into it. I rented mine out before and they ended up blowing the woofer. Never again.

@@disbjohn I use a Drawmer Speaker Protection Processor on my pair so it protects them. A DBX Driverack will do too. There is actually a limiter which distorts the sound to let you know the woofer is on the limits. (it says in the manual).....

RCFs all day long in my opinion if you're going for a full set-up. Tops are about high and mid ends, which RCF is clearer and crisper in. The extra low end of the EVs here is redundant if you're going to have a large sub to go with them anyway.
@samaritan948810 жыл бұрын
Good stuff man, I appreciate the effort you went to. Again, for me the RCF has a clear advantage. The 3 inch voice coil seems to make all the difference. The HD 32a is gaining a reputation as a great live vocal speaker and I know a number of opera houses and theatres that are buying them in. I know you guys use them for DJ work, I do a little DJ work too but only after I finish playing a live gig normally. For me, the RCF HD can handle the live work far better than the other two, and then it can easily switch over to DJ work straight after without any problem. It sounds better at the top, mid, and bottom. Another speaker you may want to check out is the RCF 4PRO 3031a. It's the same price as the HD 32.

Midrange on the JBL sounds more muffled. I feel like JBL speakers always have a smiley face equalizer sound. Solid lows and highs, but no mids. Vocal intelligibility is much better on the RCF. The ZXA5 sounds fantastic, nice punch and it's got that EV sizzle.

I purchased both the K10 and DXR10 to compare in my own listening environment (GC didn't have the DXR10 so I had no choice but to buy) The K10 is more detailed, better projection, broader audible frequency range; the DXR10 has slightly fuller mids, not quite as detailed and pristine as the K10. The K10 has a lower bass extension, especially with the DEEP switch on. If you're using subs, you'll have HPFs engaged, so this isn't really an issue. However, I plan on using a pair for my home stereo where I don't have room for a sub.. so the deeper bass is nice to have for that application. The K10, while better detail/projection, crisper highs.. it can be a bit harsh at higher volumes. The DXR10 doesn't really have this issue, mainly because it has less mid-high/highs to start with. The K10 seems to get louder to my ears, broader frequency range,.. but watch out for those highs. Your ears will ultimately decide- but that's my unbiased opinion of these 2 cabs. Broader frequencies and detail with K10.. but a bit too much high/mids-highs at higher volumes. Slightly fuller mids in DXR10 with a little less detail and projection overall. For use with solo piano work- I'd recommend the DXR10. C5 and higher you have a few keys that stand out on the K10 with its HF driver, and I like the mids more with the DXR10 for pianos. I use a S90XS and the S6 is pretty good through both, but you have to be careful with the Concert Grand's highs with the K10. For use as a keyboard monitor/amp with a band- I also play in an indie rock/surf rock band Dentist, (comparisons would be Alvvays, Best Coast). I use Reason, so if you're familiar with it's sounds you have an idea.. using some pads with bell-like sounds on top, a Hammond sim (from the Abbey Rd pack), some simple synth leads, and Reason's average attempt at a "Steinway D" piano. Just had a show last night in a loud room with a PA and un-miced guitar amps (so my stage volume was important here, which is really why I looked into these cabs) The K10 held up GREAT. PLENTY of headroom, lower mids sounded good and the highs didn't bother me too much... even though I wear earplugs so take that for what it's worth. I was impressed and pleased with the sound. I even had a random guy come up to me and compliment the keys (which I rarely get from people other than bands also playing the venue..) so that made me feel even better about the K10. Looking forward to trying the DXR10 at the next venue. So that's my 2.. or 4 cents. Hope it helps. EV's ETX-10P are supposed to be awesome if you're stuck on 10" speakers.. but they're $400 more than K10s, which are already $200 more than the EV ELX. Maybe I'll ask GC if I could give them a try.. I'm just not sure how keen they'd be on me purchasing a 3rd speaker, knowing that 2 of them will be returned.

Hello and thank you very much for the answer! What I see at JBL of hyper positive it is the manufacturing of loudspeakers, they are experts. At QSC do they make their loudspeakers? I do not believe and in case of breakdown, at JBL during of numerous years we can have very quickly the loudspeakers of origin, fantastic! Besides the famous test JBL " torture announcers " 100 hours of full volume that represent a great (tremendous) guarantee. Friendly

Typically, we never put RCF up against the cheaper brands. In fact, for our clients, the RCF is often overpriced for the application. Yet their speakers are clearly great quality. When I think of overall bang for the buck, would have to clearly give it to the EV ZX series. & in the same breath can tell you that the jbl still presents it's case that it is also a great speaker. Different people place different expectations on what they want to hear. Kind of like when I think of a Peavey PVM50 vocal microphone vs a Shure SM58. I already know for the money, the Peavey is better hands down. YET on the same token, there are many who like that rock edge the sm58 provides, so in those cases, the Shure would win. Remember, 80% of the equation on higher quality product typically comes down to perception.

Richard Einstein Trust me bro, the EV's are the best. RCF is incredible especially considering that it's only a 12 but the EV takes the cake in terms of warmth and sound quality although I think that the RCF's have slightly better vocal reproduction.

The RCFs horns are an inch larger than the ZXa5's here, if you're adding in a large sub such as a Yorkville LS801P I would consider something with crisper mids from the HD32a to go along with it rather than the extra low-end from the ZXa5's which, by the time you've got a large sub in your set-up is redundant.. tops are for clarity, subs are for bass. If all I had were tops, I'd go EV here, with my LS801P, (either 1 or both of them that I own), I'd go RCF all day

JBL is not musical at all, it sounds strange and constricted and I wasn't feeling the groove. It's strange how there is more groove, vibe, open sound and life with the RCF and the EV. The EV sounds boxy and resonant with the vocals, that port noise was very annoying, with the vocal rnb track it sucked but somehow it felt better with the hip hop kinda song ... RCF does a way better job with vocals, low end is tighter , it felt, grooved and sounded better with the RnB song , but it didn't sound very groovy and nice with the hip hop song. It's because the hip hop track contained a lot of information in the very low end and it ate up the headroom in the RCF. I think that the RCF was pushed to the max of its amp capacity with the hip hop song and it sounded like it was compressing and limiting ... which is why it sounded weird, pumpy and not punchy. The EV on the other hand had more headroom and wasn't sounding limited and compressed. Sound quality wise, the RCF beats them all ... you just have to leave enough headroom and not allow it to limit.

The JBL EON presents a great clean(appropriate) sound, balanced well with all the frequencies, no basses draft, attractive mediums, 60 years of experience(experiment) are felt! The holding in power is exceptional on the JBL. Beyond JBL grows old very well, rather well, and resells easily in the second hand. RCF remains a good European, solid and reliable product but does not reach the hight quality JBL.

LavaVids Your all crazy, I checked them all out side by side and I bought the PRX 735 3way. The only one that stood up to them in quality was the QSC's 153 but they were too tall to get in my van, and I have a lot of gear so that wouldn't work. I have a high energy rock band,and so far these speakers crank with exceptional quality and even when pushed have no distortion ! { Never seen the limiter light yet} So much headroom. Built solid. Very pleased that I chose them. I have to ask... the song selections. I hope they are just looping the same lines over and over or the CD is skipping cause that's some monotonous music. IMO

Okay, You are right, but so what ? After you corrected the guy { rightly so } for calling the speaker an EON when it's clearly PRX you went on to criticize the EON's . I guess my major point should have been, that I was never crazy about EON's and why is everyone even discussing the 615's when JBL has the 700 series out ? I tested all of them side by side. The EV's were not close. The QSC's are very good but would have been about 5 inches too tall to get in my van standing up, {which is neccessary to get all my gear to a show} I have a rock & roll band.The JBL PRX 735's are incredible !. So rather than discuss the 615's which had a heating issue { No Fan} why not stay up to date and discuss what's relevant. The PRX 700 series kicks ass and stays cool with a fan and shut down mode when there's no signal for 5 minutes} Starts back up with a whisper in the mic.. These are far better than the 615's so theu are a mut subject. So much headroom in the 735's, I have yet to see the limiter lite !!

One last thing. I went to l' Acoustics and they are pushing mostly junk ! Pyle Pro, Mackie Thump etc. The only decent speakers were the RCF, so what were we supposed to get out of that ?
