Good demonstration of circuit sharing between two EVSE's. I was limited to a 60 amp circuit due to the sizing of my breaker panel service from the utility provider. I however installed two Tesla Universal Wall Chargers in our new home for our Chevrolet Silverado RST and our Cadillac Lyriq. Your setup process was very good and mirrored my installation. The Tesla Universal Wall Charger works without issues on both my vehicles. I also found that the Universal Wall Chargers need to be pretty much in line of sight of each other to keep the pairing stable once commissioned. And lastly for non-tesla vehicles make sure both Universal Wall Chargers have been updated to the latest code level as one of my units (bought at the same time) was a rev version lower and would not charger either of my vehicles until software was upgraded (using the tesla one app). The other charger (on higher code level) worked without issues. I like the fact that the J1772 is built in and I do not need a separate adapter for the J3400 style. I am not a fanboy of the tesla vehicles. (I sold mine after a year of frustration with it.) I will give credit to the circuit sharing layout of the Universal Wall Charger for its ease of implementation.

Great video! I just recently added a 2nd Wall Connector and they are sharing 48A. It's a really nice feature to have to save on wire cost.

Definitely!

Great vid! Made me realize I can add a second very easily and DYI it. I have a 100 amp breaker on mine so should be able to pull a decent rate even if both are charging at the same time. Thanks!!

Yeah definitely!! Thanks for watching!

FYI 6 gauge romex is not approved for 60 amp breaker/48amp ev charging. 6 gauge romex is only rated to 55 amps. For 48amp ev charging you need 6 gauge copper thhn wire. your setup is perfectly fine for 50amp breaker for 40 amp charging. But for 2 cars you really want the full 48amps.
@Myksgarage9 күн бұрын
Yeah I was aware of of the limitation of the romex wire, which is why I only used a 50amp breaker. This set up should be fine for my usage. I only drive one of these vehicles per day so they won't be charging at the same time ver often. Thanks for watching!

Enjoy your content, thanks! Can you tell us again the symbol for the “Tesla fund” you mentioned in a previous video? I think you said it gives 4X returns or losses? I need 4 teslas. 😁 Thanks again.

Wow impressive! How many amp service do you have to your garage or house for that many wall connectors?
@Myksgarage9 күн бұрын
I only have 150amp service at my house, so that's another reason for these 2 wall connectors sharing a circuit
@JeepLJ9 күн бұрын
@ I have an old house with 100amp service but fortunately the garage has its own meter with 100amp service as well. I’m in the process of planning a homeowner permitted 200amp upgrade to the house first and then I’ll probably do a 200amp upgrade down the road for the garage so if we get a second electric car.
@JeepLJ9 күн бұрын
Most states and counties allow a homeowner permit, you just have to apply get approved and take a test and get inspections still. I have a lot of work ahead but it’s simple enough to save a boatload of money over paying an electrician. There is so much KZbin videos on 200amp upgrades, not so much homeowners but the code and work is the same just different legal process.

Why not 48 amps? Nevermind I just realized you only put a 50 amp breaker.... Why didn't you do a 60 amp breaker...... Also thank you for the demo...... Definitely going to order another charger and piggyback off the charger as well..... Great video

I didn't want to overload my panel with charging 4 teslas, hence the 50 amp breaker

@Myksgarage I just want to clarity or I am not seeing correctly. I have two gen 3 tesla wall chargers and they only have 3 conductor terminals. In your video it looks like you have 6 conductor terminals in your 1st wall charger and the 2nd wall charger that connected looks like it only has 3 conductor terminals. Am i seeing correctly? I would like to hook my setup just like yours but dont think i can put the input wire and put out the wire with only 3 conductors.
@Myksgarage23 сағат бұрын
You're seeing that correctly. The wall connector that has the 6 terminals, is the "universal wall connector" amzn.to/4fIoaJc

@@Myksgarage oh ok. I guess I can't use my two gen 3's as neither are a universal charger. I will have to stick to a junction box

This is exactly what i'm doing in my setup. running a regular wall connector about 30 ft down the garage wall
