Which simulator to use learning RC helicopter flying in 2022? Here's my collection about the best aplications. There's no particular order, choose from these simulators that you like the most and which suits your computer, goals and personal preferences.

This software is an abandonware now, so it is hard to find it, although there are retailers with few leftover boxed versions, and I found a website where the software can be downloaded: www.rc-thoughts.com/phoenix-sim/
Hardware key - aka dongle - is required. There are genuine (used) dongles on eBay sometimes, and you can buy cloned ones (which killed the software itself - this is why buy original always instead of the copycats!)

avoid realflight all together. price should be 20 bucks. litterally the amount of problems it has with getting a controller to work. or bringing out new versions without ANY sort of upgrade path available. and then asking full price again even though it's the same exact game with a few new planes and heli's and a field or 2 more. every single version should have been a dlc for 10-20 bucks. THEN it might have been worth the money. you need to buy third party dongles if you want to train with the transmitter you are going to be using for your actual heli. (wich trick the game into thinking that you are using their 60 bucks propiatary controller) since rf8 and up you SHOULD be able to use other computerised transmitters but this doesn't work in most cases. and even if you use their own wired controller it still doesn't work in most cases. (most common problem is the usb port not supplying enoegh power to the controller and people needing a powered usb hub. but that's most certainly not the only problem because there are many people who have a powered usb and it still doesn't work.) honestly from what i have learned about realflight in the last week or 2. in my oppinion horizonhobbies deserves bankrupty

Phoenix was my first simulator too. I own RF 7 and now use Accurc as my . What I didn't like about the phoenix was the helicopters responded too perfect with out regard to physics. It just didn't seem natural . The helicopters can do perfect axis rolls and flips in the Phoenix.

Thank you for your question. As far as I know, the only sim with controller is the RealFlight, all others require a transmitter. Not the transmitter is important, how it can be connected to the computer matters. Almost all brands have their dongle solutions, so this should not be an issue. Futaba, FrSky, Spektrum, JR, Mikado VControl, Graupner all can be connected with the cheap clone dongle (approx 8-10 dollars). The reason anyway: especially in case of a beginner: You must learn not just how to control, but how it feels with your transmitter control, and to get familiar with all the switches, sensivity, holding and so on. The transmitter should not be unfamiliar during the first flight attempts. This is why we recommend that you should use that transmitter for sim practicing what will be used during the real flights.

Hi Great video. I have the original Phoenix RC can you tell me please if the Helicopter element of the sim is similar to a model cp helicopter in how it flies. I recently got a Copterx 450AEv2 flybar helicopter from a local swap meet and am currently trying to learn to fly a heli on PhoenixRC. Or would I be better with Accurc? Many thanks

Personally, a lot of us learnt to fly helis with PhoenixRC as it is a very good and realistic sim that mirrors reality and physics very well. The only downside would be that the sim doesn't include any of the modern models and that it isn't online anymore, but other than that, it has every feature needed to learn to fly. Good luck!

As it said: yes, it still does the job - even in 2022, even with its current limitations. Don't feel ashamed, it was a great sim, it's still a good sim, just sad, it's not developed further.

Po.pierwsze,Żeby symulator dawał nam realne latanie,trzeba kupic tv 42 lub 50 cali i powiesic go przed oczami, zawsze latam na stojąco, odruchy są lepsze, I zbliżone do realnego latania. Jak dla mnie next jest najlepszym symkiem.

Bought AccuRC & hated it. Good physics but the childish game menus & Steam integration really irritated. Then bought Heli-X which was much better but still a little rough around the edges. Now I’m on neXt which is rock solid easy to use & really excellent. I’ve not tried the others.

AccuRC has the best graphics and real good physics. The Steam integration makes updates really easy to keep your software have the latest releases and latest model. I tried Helix Demo and I like it. I just can't get past the old school looking graphics to shell out over $100.

Hello, there are plenty of variations. Like you can buy any cheap Chinese clone dongle (like 4 in 1) for about 10 USD, or anything which can connect your computer to your transmitter. The only exception: Phoenix RC dongle is a special one, that can be used with Phoenix RC only, and that software is not running with anything else.

I downloaded everything, I pulled the code, but I could not make it run. There are package issues, and I'm not a Unity developer to resolve them. Sadly, I have to postpone this a little bit.

To be honest, this is one of the weak points of HeliX. Not so obvious to configure it.
