Hello from Crete Greece today i purchased mine . The price is indeed spicy but the love for Tamiya and especially for this buggy is a lot bigger! I agree that for this amount of money Tamiya should offer a slightly better package but that what it is ! Of course i ordered the missing bearings and i will order the high capacity metal shock absorbers. Im looking forward to put my hands on this kit!!! Big SALUTE from the island of Crete cheers and happy Christmas holiday to all !!!!

I have one already but I cannot build it yet as it is for Christmas from my sweet wife. I dont mind the price of the rerelease cars. I want Tamiya to be able to make money so they keep them coming. If it is not profitable it stops so we all need to keep that in mind. Also we are just grown up kids who make more money than we did as kids. So go ahead and feed that inner child. You have worked your whole life. You deserve it!

Love the video, the critique etc. I think the additional bits are needed to make it to start being worth it. I was lucky with mine/price with getting it in from Japan with no import taxes/charges at all so it was at the price point that I was happy with (£250 including shipping). I’m glad of the polycarbonate on the G parts opposed to ABS.

Bought one myself as I have the OG, the missing bearing you can buy cheap on eBay. I would like to have seen some goodies added to the car ie the motor, a bag or T-shirt like the first Avante re-release got them. Different wheels maybe but for beginners it's overpriced but I have some good memories with the car and thus bought the re-release version. I have the optional Hi-caps as well.

Gav. Been speaking to someone on Facebook and they made their own part from carbon for the rear part which keeps breaking (g11??). Great looking thing, that's for sure. For a little bit more money than price that Tamiya wants for this VQS rere (cheapest I could find one right now is about 300 euros) plus some upgrades like the motor, you can also buy a Kyosho Optima rere for which you would still need a motor. Or you could get a 2WD Kyosho rere buggy with a hot brushless combo for about the same money as the VQS. Anyway, for me the VQS seems wildly expensive and I would rather spend my money on a Kyosho buggy which has all the nice aluminium and steel parts.

@stumpycatvm7115
@stumpycatvm7115 4 жыл бұрын
I think it may because any step up in the Tamiya motor from the bone stock 540- means a considerable increase in the magnet compression resistance, Which means you can't drive the gears with your hand by moving wheels, what will happen is the gearbox planetary gear teeth will grind against the motor pinion and for a novice may be an issue, They hedge against this risk or issue of confusion to a novice by just giving you the low resistance stock motor- I have the Super Stock installed with my copy with the Hobbywing 1060
@VestedUTuber

If it's the same motor as in the Avante rerelease, then it should be fine. It's not brushless-powerful but it's got some pep to it.

But it isn’t that expensive I thought 295€ and it is more high end than the super hot shot which is similar in price, or am I wrong? Been watching this great playlist of the VQS and it really grew on me so ordered one today to compare to some of my 4WD Kyosho buggies. I felt it was a close match tio Kyosho specs. So thanks Gav for all the great facts, thoughts and detailed build playlist 😊❤️👍

Entertaining videos on this car as always Gavin. Do I like the price of this car... No....did I get one?.. YES. I am hoping the price reflects a small run of this model,and the upgrades that were done.. Would you like to see Tamiya re use this chassis for something different? ... Think Vajra....or black special, or a different buggy body....? Some of it may be tamiya getting what they can based on secondary market prices, or the insane demand on the RC market right now... Very hard to find much in stock at retail....! Either way... I have a vintage vanquish which I don't drive... You know why...lol.. so I got over the cost based on having the opportunity to drive a new one.. plus a coupon from the online retailer helped as well.. lastly... Once the run of this is sold out....the price will only go higher... which will have more people complaining on cost. Same as the Avante black special... Etc. Maybe Tamiya is asking more... Because we are in the decline of the re re market...?

I have always wanted a vanquish since I was a kid. The re release gives me that option but the price blows. Now granted I’m not worried about the upgraded parts because it’s never going to be driven. But i finally have an order placed for the top force evo which is by far a better deal. It does get frustrating that even now in modern times tamiya won’t include bearings in every kit like 99% of the rc cars. Granted I’m not interested in those, but if the vqs is this much, could one imagine how much a re release of a Porsche 959 would be? For this amount of money they need to take a little more pride. Not all of their kits are like this and it’s something we are use to, which is why they keep doing it.
@RCKickschannel

Hi Jason and thanks for commenting. I have to agree, especially the VQS price point was well off and the market reacted. You can still purchase a VQS from so many places as it just didn't sell while everything else is sold out. I do think this sent a clear message to Tamiya about pricing. You can't just stick big price tags on just any kit.

I had a original one as a runner with full Tamiya ADSPEC system in it. It had the G-part printed too. They drives vel for that time line, and surprisingly sturdy. Only thing I do not like is all the dirt piling up inside the chassis and the battery box lid get stuck with sand. The mid ball dif is not minded for hot motors. I drove it with a vintage 27 turn modified motor, and it handled that well. But will not recommend any hotter than a technigold or similar. I would get a set of MCI stickers for the rere though. That VQS stuff is so out of tuch in my opinion.

Hey Gav, thanks for that, really useful to know how you found this build, to answer your question, YES I would buy it if it had the bearings and a 'premium' motor. I already have bearings and a choice of motor's as it happens but that's not the point is it - Tamiya need to stop penny pinching like this its quite pathetic especially considering the fact that they get so much right, this is plain stupid. By the way I think the phrase is 'sharpest tool in the box' :) 'smartest tool' is something entirely different take care.

Still too pricey for what it is I believe. Regarding the G11 material, polycarb is great when new but it is hydroscopic and so becomes very brittle with age. Older Tomy AFX slot car chassis illustrate this well, if you find one still NIP, it's more than likely cracked/split already. A tougher Nylon or similar material would be more suited, albeit not as shiny. Cheers for the build series Gav.
