Had an Ultimate Slash for a year. Been great, none of the heating or other problems people on here are complaining about. I do have regrets about not buying the Maxx instead. Widemaxx came out a bit later and it is more modern and so makes me feel like I am missing out by having the Slash.

Losi Tanacity DB Pro RTR is by far better and cheaper. I agree, Traxxas needs to up their game on this one especially for the price and considering the VXL systems have a habit of overheating if you're trigger happy. I'm a big Traxxas fan but they have a couple of vehicles that need help especially with the electronics! Thanks for your content as always.

Amazing platform for those that want a bit more than just short course racing 😁! On the 2wd Slash (want to say 4wd but not sure) another cool thing to note, 80-90% of the parts are interchangeable with the Rustler, Stampede, and Bandit platforms from Traxxas as well!

The Slash is an outdated basher and needs a ton of upgrades to be somewhat race-worthy. Instead of a heavily upgraded Slash you could get a short course kit like the Losi TEN-SCTE 3.0 which is vastly superior as a racing platform - there is no comparison.
@twisterzman2 жыл бұрын
You do realize that the ultimate comes with all the upgrades already installed? Hence the name..

@@twisterzman I doubt any Traxxas out of the box can be competitive against kit versions, but I don't own one so I could be wrong.

Compared to other short course offerings, yes, the slash left a lot on the table. Associated put everyone on notice when they released theirs (seems forever ago) but.. the lcg chassis made the slash extremely competitive. Drive one.. you might be pleasantly surprised

Back in my days with rcca,I reviewed a 2wd slash when they first came out. I beat it like it owed me money at a skate park. Other than the horrid spur gear (for years traxxas couldn't make one round) it took all I threw at it. After 33 years in hobby, I must say.. it still u.s in my top 10

"best version of the most influential rc car ever made" WHAT???? Francis, come on man?? Mine can only run for 5 minutes then the esc or the motor shuts down, with fans on. Don't even get me started on the throttle lag...(yes, it's in send it mode). Don't even get me started on the soft springs that don't even hold the car up. But, it's great for 5 minutes, I'll give you that, but nothing else. Oh, AND, you need to spend a further $500 to upgrade the abysmal electronics, the servo, motor, esc, receiver, transmitter, all have to be replaced immediately!!! Just give me the roller please Traxxas and STOP ripping people off! I can't wait until I get my Arrma Mojave EXB which is cheaper, even when buying the electrics, that will be light years ahead of the waste of materials that comes with it now...You've been warned!
@RCReviewChannel2 жыл бұрын
You have the Ultimate? I had the Slash in 1999 and the short course racing scene exploded because of it. So many got introduced to the hobby. 22 years later, the Slash is still available for $199 and selling well. But there are 5 other versions now too and this Ultimate is so, so good. There are other cars too like the Drag Slash and the Rally which are on the same chassis. I bet this has introduced more people into the hobby and the delivered smiles more than any other rc.
@jeffparryncc17012 жыл бұрын
@@RCReviewChannel I have the Ultimate, same as the one in the video. I too fell for the "it's the best, get one" thing. I've had two traxxas products. 1. The Traxxas TRX4 Defender, a great truck until you splash it and have to replace, guess what? All of the electrics because they were fried. Car 2. The Traxxas Slash Ultimate 4x4. It ran for 5 minutes then shut down, repeatedly. It was raining another day, guess wha happened? Guess what? I bet you can! The electrics fried...that was it for me...done. Once bitten twice shy, why would I go for a third go??? In Australia it sells for around $950. Hell NO... For a pensioner (ie me) it's an expensive exercise to waste money on a pile of crap that runs for 5 minutes. An Arrma Mojave is on the way and as I said, it will be cheaper, why? Your not replacing expensive 💩that goes up in smoke at the first sign of water or any other thing like moving. Hell Yes Please, and thanks you Arrma. Just my experience with Traxxas so far :) I would probably buy The TRX4 again, when Traxxas sells a roller for $400 cheaper :)

Nobody buy this car!!! Get the losi tenacity tt pro. You can even check my channel. I beat tekno sct kits with it. No ultimates can even come close to keeping up with the handling. Also the tenacity has $250 worth of upgraded parts that the ultimate doesn't even come with. Not to mention a esc that you can actually customize like drag brake and all that. Everyone that had a ultimate at my track no longer uses them cuz they just can't keep up and brake so often.
