I think because it was a British take on American style elections as we in the UK don't have attack ads on TV and televised debates are a fairly recent addition to our election cycles plus matters of abortion/faith doesn't really have as much weight during campaigns as they do in the US.

Yeah it's a bit of a headfuck, maybe they're counting both Timeslides and the end of season 8 as Rimmer's only deaths, where in this universe he didn't die with the rest of the crew after the events of Timeslides. But of course I'm overthinking it.

Love this episode! It is real classic RD that we haven't seen for a while. Judging by the cheers, the audience enjoyed seeing Talkie again, as did I. Well, in my case he never really left, as my mobile text alert is the '' no buns, baps, baguettes or bagels'' speech!! 😂😂

Personally i never bought the idea that the Cat would be blackmailable because he needs glasses. i dunno when the Cat became this teenage boy who was worried his school pals would find out he is still a virgin or needed glasses. that doesn't seem like the same Cat thats been built up over the years. the same cat that dresses in some fairly crazy outfits and does not care less what the crew think of him. By that logic the Cat would be changing his outfit every time the crew said anything about it, but no the cat doesn't care about that stuff. IMO he would be more likely to take the glasses away and get them stylish up to what he considers cool, like he did the space suit in series 2. Admittedly they are ugly glasses. But am not sure that was what the cat was being blackmailed over.

I love this one, Timewave was shit but the back half of series 12 is completely solid. series 12 is very fan service-ey and i think its because it was broadcast the year before the 30th anniversary.

To be fair, Rimmer is actually thinking like a politician; by smearing the competion, by appealing to the lowest denominator, by lying their asses off instead of fulfilling their promises. In short; the average politician is a total smeghead! ... also, nice to see Talkie Toaster again! 😅

I had the same sting of nostalgia seeing talkie again as I did when I saw red dwarf the ship at the end of serise 7. And I would later find out this won't be the last time I'll get the nostalgia hits in this serise.

Ha I just remembered in one of the fallout new vagus dlc's called old world blues , there was a talking toster to. Though it was far less cheerful as it was quite insane and opessed with murdering all the other tosters and I believe all the other machines in the big empty, where the dlc takes place. If I recall correctly the other sentient machines ganged up and murdered it buy throwing it in a bath. I wonder if that talking toster was a reference to the talking toster in red dwarf.

Nice work as usual and on another topic that bit from A Voice From The Dark part 1 where you and Welshy were discussing Hellraiser vs Saw, I haven't seen Saw because I'm uncomfortable with that type Gore but I watched the first two Hellraisers and I was okay with them because the story and characters were engaging (as was the Overall Mythos) so I'm on your side of that argument based on what I've seen of your videos. Especially since I consider the Saw movie to be just gratuitous torture porn
