You're not maiden fans. They're not even bands. You've gone way way beyond what concept bands were. 5 minutes is NOT supposed to be played over and over for decade after decade. You either move on in life or you invent what it is that you're doing for the last 4 decades. The family album that's only happy snaps of 3 to 5 minute songs ended in 1991 when Bruce destroyed the whole concept.

God bless my old friend Paul. He was a very funny, decent bloke. I used to hang out with these guys back in the late 70s, early 80s and we spent most of our time in the Ruskin Arms in East Ham( east london). I must have seen them play there at least 30 times with Paul before they made the big time. They were AND still are the most decent, humble guy's you could meet. I even played football ⚽️ for a local amateur team (Melbourne F C)with Stevie Harris...and trust me,he was as good at that as he is on the bass!!! Best thing about the band is they have stayed true rockers.Paul had demons that led to his departure but stayed a really great bloke. We ARE still all mad West Ham Utd fans. R.I.P mate. Up the Irons ⚒️⚒️⚒️⚒️....great respectful tribute Doug👏👏👏....Paul and Bruce were good friends!!! He was the singer with Sansom when i first met him and it was obvious he would join the band, once Paul started to have voice "issues". Just a quick footnote.....Next summer the band are playing at The London Stadium...home to West Ham FC......can you imagine how cool thdts gonna be⚒️

Mate, I grew up 10mins away from Cart & Horses in Maryland Point in a street just off Chobham Road, Unfortunately for me, I never knew what greatness was unfolding on my doorstep asI wasn't aware of them. I remember the lucozade ad with daley thompson thinking that the music was sick but at 8 or 9 really not aware of the world of heavy metal. It was only until we moved to Ireland did I discover Maiden in the Bruce era at the age of 12 did I become infatuated with them and absolutely loved those two albums with Paul. 3 West Ham nuts in Steve, Paul and Clive making a name for themselves. I really hope West Ham honour his name this weekend! COYI's!!!

My favorite Iron Maiden album. I clearly remember getting it on the release date and hearing it with my music listening buddy. Paul is horribly overlooked by Bruce's legacy and for many of us who have been there from the beginning, Paul is THE voice we discovered with the entire band. There wouldn't be a band for Bruce to join if Paul hadn't crushed it on the first two albums. Clive Burr is untouchable on this album!! Listen to Clive's lightning-fast 16th notes in the right hand on the hi hat during Wrathchild!!! Epic punk influenced power and speed!!! Killers is basically a perfect album. No filler and such a unique lineup with Paul, Clive and Adrian. Clive's drumming was so creative on this one and the next. Martin Birch pushed them to their limit and actually for the next album, Bruce is on record for talking about how Martin accepted nothing less than perfection, and I think he must have been doing that here too, such is the excellence of the musicianship. It is imperative that Paul Di’Anno be recognized for his contributions to those first two albums. I understand that his struggles contributed to his short tenure with the band, but he deserved better than life gave him, as many do. I’ve had my fingers crossed for him to pull through and it’s a sad day. If there’s anything to believe in, he and Clive are tearing it up upstairs. And ffs, Doug, get to side two asap.

The only positive we can draw from the passing of Paul Dianno is we get to appreciate his period of time with Iron Maiden, always my favourite Maiden vocalist (sorry Bruce) The two albums and, don't forget the several ep's that came along separately (Sanctuary, Women In Uniform, Twilight Zone, Maiden Japan) are without equal. A punky energy seethes through everything Paul did and I love it. Rest in peace Paul. You have it a good shot.

Thank you for the tribute to Paul today. I knew about him performing in a wheelchair. This was my first LP killers i bought way back in what was probably 1981. after that i bought their 1st LP. For many later maiden fans their introduction was through Bruce's vocals. For me it was Paul's voice. My favorite song he sang was prodigal sun. Cheers to Paul and RIP!

Iron Maiden and Killers were the milk of my early years , I sucked it everyday at any time, those two albums are in my heart and soul bc it was a very special moment in life and music, a lot of good stuff going on . Great comment. I wasn't born until '85 and didn't discover Iron Maiden until around 2000 when a friend at school played me some of the "Ed Hunter" compilation. My policy with any band new to me is to start at the beginning, and the result was listening to those first Di'Anno albums over and over again. As much as I love the later stuff (from the pre-Blaze period at least), to me this version of Maiden is the definitive one, even though I was twenty years late to the party.

@@blackthorn5709 Yes that is the best way ,I suppose, to really listen a bands or solo artist work, go to their first records and from there see the evolution , but listen never is too late if you live long enough, thanks God I'm still around and re-discovering music of those days that we simply didn't care at the time, perhaps bc there was a lot good music or bc we were young and in my case not mature enough to appreciate fantastic bands and solo musicians that were around . That is the thing with music, we grow and we keep learning and evolving and revisiting and our knowledge and taste expands as a result of that. Thanks for your comment , Rock on 🤘🏻.

What’s amazing is that these albums reached out to the whole world, to hundreds of countries in an era without internet or any sort of marketing. Where I was, this album wasn’t even sold as a casette and by word of mouth you would find person who owns a copy and if you were lucky you’d have a double cassette deck at home to make your own copy.

Thank you for this, Doug. I had gone to see DiAnno's Battlezone back in, I believe, 89, and actually had the pleasure of meeting him after running into his Drummer, Steve, and it was Steve who brought me back to the dressing room to meet him. I will be forever grateful for that, and I still talk to Steve occasionally. Hopefully, you'll do Side 2 to this incredible album. Rest in Peace, Paul. See you on the other side.

Thank you for this tribute, this was a sad day for us, Maiden fans! I feel like a part of my teenage years has gone, too! Although Bruce was already Maiden's frontman when I got to know their music; but of course I got interested in getting to know what they had done before and then I found out this great album! "Killers" still is to me one of the greatest rock albums ever! And it's really so good to realise what this channel has turned into: a Maiden's point on KZbin! R.I.P., Paul!

Saw Maiden on the current tour in Phoenix and Denver, then got the horrible news my last day in Denver. Glad to see so much recognition for Pauls contributions and some wonderful thoughts shared from Steve Harris and the Maiden camp on the loss of Paul. No question those first two albums set the tone for Maiden, but for many other metal bands to come as inspiration. Great choice Doug!!

Thanks, Doug! Prodigal Son on side 2 is I think the best ballad they ever did. An outstanding composition, it features acoustic guitar, mournful electric guitar leads, but most importantly, I think it's Paul's best-ever singing. He sings it with fragility and passion as he plaintively asks for help.
