I was changing my oil yesterday and I asked myself that there must be some method in refining the used motor oil. Here I am looking at your amazing video. This is great in what you are doing. If I were to see refined oil on my nearby store shelves that meet the same certs as virgin oil I will buy it. Thank you for posting this video.

You said after working on the oil, You mixed with acid. What did you do first before mixing the acid with oil.

Since 1859 we've been boiling crude oil (at very low temperatures due to the very low flash points involved) for 15 to thirty minutes to distill gas, kerosene (diesel & jet fuel), bunkers 1, 2, 3 and sludge (mixed with crushed rock to make asphalt). Not to mention the vapors (acetylene, propylene, butylene, etc..) not rocket science.

Is it Acetic acid that is added added to the oil. Used oil already is acid, should this not be neutralized with a base compound? I want to clarify some dirty hydraulic oil so I can reuse it.
@guillermosantos36216 жыл бұрын
El ácido es para reaccionar y destruir los aditivos detergentes y dipersantes ,y el polvo y el ollin , ácido sulfúrico es lo ideal después se tiene que neutralizar con tierras diatomeas para que quede en un pH adecuado.

The refined oil doesn't look clean, the red color shows it has oxidated. Also, once motor oil has been used, it doesn't only mean contamination, but also the molecular structure has been cut down, which causes decline of lubricant, cleaning, and cooling capability. But, I have to say, compare with running a engine without oil, adding this would be better.

LIANG XU according to a video I just watched made by valvoline, a properly re refined oil will have almost identical properties to virgin oil

Aren't a lot of detergents added to oils during the initial refining process? Those detergents probably get burned off after the first use, and what the exact measurements, and ratios of those detergents are vary from company to company. Also from what I've come to understand, those are kept as a trade secret to avoid an "additive war" between companies. But I'm no expert, I could be way off base here.

Just because you have a lab coat does not make you smart in burned oil is sut and water should not be being introduced from washing but it is a part of combustion so that could be expected but carbon is a lot of it but is all this cost effective

It is in Africa, where labor is dirt cheap and everything else more expensive that you would expect it to, owing to their crappy to inexistent transport infrastructure.
