1988. Just before everybody got depressed and starting wearing flannel and Doc Martens. 😉

This is my FAVORITE 80'S BAND, and the first concert i went to in High school, they are great live performers, the singer Tom Kieffer list his voice for awhile, he's performing again now

Fun fact: Cinderella's lead singer, Tom Keifer, could have been the lead guitarist in several bands. He was that darn good. He chose to sing instead. Another great reaction.

The song is protesting censorship, particularly of music at the time.

A lot of people today think this is satire but actually it's lyrically very much serious social commentary about what was happening at the time. Janis Joplin and Noddy Holder (Slade), were huge influences on Tom Keiffer's vocal style, and in this song you can truly hear both of them. This song is musically light, catchy, and fun a tribute to the pop "bubblegum" sounds of the 60s that often hid a more serious message. There are a couple fun cameos besides Little Richard, Shelley Duvall (R.I.P.), Pamela Anderson, Dweezil Zappa, and Harry Shearer.

Shelter? Like Sinatra said, A bottle, a woman, whatever gets you through the night. Keifer sings "For me it's rock n roll".

It's about the hypocrisy of censorship. Everyone goes through tough times. It's what we do to get through it. That's your shelter. For some It's the needle (Heroin) for some It's a pill ( prescription drugs " Mother's little helper) for some It's religion (some people read the Bible cause it's giving them a thrill.) For the guys in the band it was the escapism of rock & roll. The song mentions tipper gore and her crusade to put warning labels on records and CD's. It's also mentions Jimmy Swaggert and his crimes against his parishioners. It's been said that it's better to be an open sinner than a false saint.

This song really underlines how all rock music is based in the blues. I swear, Tom Kiefer is an old delta blues man reincarnated. Check out songs like Bad Attitude Shuffle or Bad Seamstress Blues/Fallin' Apart at the Seams if you liked this one!
@IpungPurnomo-e6t2 ай бұрын
the song was about fighting the censorship, where many politicians namely tipper gore campaigning to ban rock music from the TV. Yet on the other hand,According to tom keifer we all need rock n roll as a shelter to protect our minds from the poisonous hypocrisy coming from the politician's mouths.

this was from Heartbreak station released I believe 1990/ he uses a lot of vocal distortion, he had blues rock influences the likes of The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, He the band was really good the first Lp Night Songs had a few mgood songs but for me the Long cold winter their sophmoore effort was the gem. then of course still climbing in the 90s, Tom is a Multi Instrumentalist who had a vocal chord injury for years. We all need a hand up a break, we all need some good fortune, and Good friends.

Cinderella is a Great Band, and Tom Keifer(lead vocals and guitarist and pianist, and writer is freaking amazing, You should explore more into the music of the 80's and Hair Bands as we call them that grew up in the 80's, music these days can't touch it, never will. There are great bands now, but nothing like what we had. 5 Albums and they all have something great to offer ! Thanks for doing this reaction ! Nobody's Fool, Don't know what ya got till its gone, Sun Shines throught the rain, Hard to find the words, as you can see, i could go on and on !😊

@@MaddyReactions Thank you so much Maddy! We basically got hit by a tornado. Hail size of Baseball’s, and 120mph winds. Gigantic Lightning! I filmed the lightning, Beautiful colors. I live in Montana. And the only time we really “hear” about tornados, is when they touch down outside of town. Then a few years ago, we watched as a Tornado ripped apart a huge building, The Metra, where our Rock Concerts, and football get played at. Now this. We are famous for Gigantic lightning, and thunder storms. Now tornados are hitting the “City” itself!! It’s gonna take a lot of calming treats before they get back to normal.🌹🌹🙏🙏🫶🫶

Maddy, I don't know if you have reacted to Band-Maid or The Warning in the past, but they just released a new video collaboration between the two bands and it's a rock and roll banger. The video is titled "Show Them" on the Band-Maid official KZbin Channel. The video literally shouts "Girl Power". I think you'll love it.

Not a parody at all. The song is a biting sociopolitical commentary on alot of things happening in the US at that time. Censorship was a particularly big issue in the music industry at that time, but the hypocrosiy of the rich , famous, and evangelical were out of control.
