Your interpretation is pretty much spot on. Yes, Boca means "mouth" in Spanish and Portuguese and is part 2 of the Dystopia trilogy, which deals with bullying and hate comments, in particular the online variant ("A trick behind a mask, a ridiculous freak" from Scream). Boca has the lines "Why do you fill your precious time with hate" and "Too many angels dying now", which points to the effects those comments can have. Several Kpop idols have committed suicide in recent years, most likely because of cyber-bullying, but this is also about all the unnamed people who suffer from online bullies. A girlgroup tackling such a subject impresses the hell out of me. They literally go to war in this video and tell haters to go and shut their "Boca" in the lyrics. And the song is absolutely awesome! Who said you can't have three different musical genres in one song?

Omg! I just discovered Dreamcatcher. I was telling all my kpop friends off for not telling me about them sooner (because I'm quite new to kpop with Stray Kids being my first group that I started with in the middle of last year). Like Dreamcatcher is totally my vibe and nobody told me????

Thanks for continuing the trilogy! Yes, you're right. "Too many angels dying now" refers to those who have lost their lives because of bullying. I love that DC takes a stand against this and abuse that takes place more and more these days.

The angels dying refers specifically to two Kpop Idols who were relentlessly bullied online in South Korea until they both took there own lives a few months before the song was written. Simply for the crime of defying Korean social traditions, Goo Hara and Sulli were condemned to death. We will never forget you. If you think social media in the West is nasty, you have no idea how vile Korean netizens can be. If you want to see Sulli, she had a small role in the Kdrama Hotel del Luna. Goo Hara was a member of the second gen Kpop group Kara. The beat in the song is moombahton which is a mixture of reggaeton and house music created by an American DJ in Washington in 2009. Dreamcatcher's songwriters are known for drawing inspiration from a wide variety of musical genres.

I thought the water might represent the tears but I also link it to ripples in a pond. A rumour starts as a ripple and spreads outwards in increasing circles. It is about watching what you say and not sending hate out to hurt others.

@@MCDofWCR - As to the "Too many angels dying now" line it IS a reference to self checkout. There have been quite a few K-idols that have done it. Korean netizens bully celebs viciously for perceived faults or errors and are spiteful to the exterme. It's really very sad. It's a topic that gets headline news when it happens but there is never any public discussions or remedial laws put in place to solve it.

You got the theme of this one pretty good. It's about the things we say that hurt others. The masks in this one are distorted & covered in newsprint like you said. "Continual questions. No hint of remorse" is a push back at all the tabloids that constantly pick on idols, or those in the public eye, and constantly ask nasty questions as if it's perfectly normal. The words we say are pretty powerful. There are two very symbolic shots in this video. One where Yoohyeon shoots an arrow into the air (Symbolizing striking back at haters & trolls indiscriminately) and the one where Yoohyeon is hit by a arrow. (Symbolizing her own words thrown back at her) Responding to anger & hate with the same is not a good thing. Scream was in a medieval setting, and talked about how people refuse to hear about bullying & only pay attention when there are no traces left. And victim blaming. Boca is in a present setting, and talks about the way words are extremely harmful. And the results of those actions taking lives. Odd Eye will be set in the future.

dreamcatcher \:D/ the dystopia trilogy may have been inspired by several very high profile singer suicides in the few years preceding, some of which were directly linked to negative online interaction. so you got most of the lyrics and imagery which can also be interpreted in more than one way. the water as described by their leader symbolizes purity as to wash away the negativity. some of this stuff you can get needlessly too deep so as long as you get the general idea that's all that counts. dreamcatcher just likes to add a lot of stuff for the nerds out there that like to dig into every scene 😅 since boca is referencing the spanish language, the genre they decided to combine is essentially a raggaeton beat. more specifically, it's moonbahton which is just a derivative. what's interesting about dreamcatcher is they always use different aspects of music in every song so almost no two sound alike. the only thing that they are consistently known for is using rock/metal instrumentation in various ways in many of their songs. the dystopia trilogy is actually very very light in terms of rock instrumentation as you can already tell. obviously as a vocal group it's not metal, but some other songs have very heavy instrumentation that would be classified as metal for most of the song instead of glimpses as seen here in boca. so sooner or later, you will find a dreamcatcher made for you but I've heard a lot of dreamcatcher fans mentioned they were introduced or converted to other genres they would never thought of liking. this includes a fair number of metalheads you would not expect showing up to their concerts 😂

Pretty much spot on with your interpretation, I'd also like to highlight something I noticed about the MV. We can see them with the dresses and the more pure parts in the song as like some goddesses, but when the outfit changes to the darker ones it seems like they are going down to fight the hate and protect us. I specially think about it that way because of the rap parts "I'm a geek the big paradox" "the killer who protects you" "I'll set you free, stop playing hide and seek" And another thing, when they say "why do you fill your precious time with hate" I think it reffers to both the person spreading hate and the ones who receive it, like a way of telling us that is not worth thinking so much about the hateful comments

I've noticed that, quite often, Dami's raps will give you the key points of the song. For example, on the surface OOTD sounds like al brag track (I'm beautiful, I'm perfect, I'm rich etc) but if you pay attention to Dami's rap she asks "How is it, do you feel like a monster?". I'd give more examples but, you know, spoilers.
