They are all characters from Disney's Haunted Mansion. VoicePlay is always at the top of their game, but here lately the technical and visual aspects have become jaw dropping! It's incredible that one group can have two arranging masters in Geoff and Layne and now with their green screen and CGI work I'm so excited to see where this goes. Fun fact: when the globe was floating it was actually Tony Wakim using fishing line and doing puppeteer work. You're going to LOVE Geoff's Ghost Riders. It was his first green screen and it took weeks to make it work.

Eli is representing the portrait of Alexander Nitrokoff from the Stretching Room in the Haunted Mansion. The portrait itself is behind him. Haunted Mansion lore has it that Nitrokoff died under mysterious circumstances, as portrayed in his portrait. Geoff is the Caretaker (also known as the Gravedigger), one of the few living characters in the Haunted Mansion. Cesar is the ghostly medium, Madame Leota, Layne is the Hatbox Ghost (a ghost who was removed from the actual ride after its face-swapping illusion failed to work properly- Layne's illusion worked much better!) and Lauren is the Bride In the Attic, a character who has undergone a number of changes over the years.

To be fair, the Hatbox Ghost did eventually return to the California Haunted Mansion in 2015 with a better/working realization of the effect. Plus it was announced that the Hatbox Ghost will also be part of the Florida Haunted Mansion next year.

the original is pretty good even if it is not in English. 2012 hide and seek ding dong (in Korean) the English version was done in 2014. or at least that is as far as i have been able to trace it back. it states it is the original version so until someone tells me different i am guessing it is. Lauren Paley has a version of this in the stairwell defiantly worth the listen as well. if you have not heard her stuff done in the stairwell you are missing out.. it adds a naturally creepy effect "Hide and Seek" is a song produced by Ho-ong-i, and performed by VOCALOID SeeU. (in Korean) the English version was done in 2014. this is based on a japanese horor story of summoning a demon to posess a body to play hide and seek .. if they find you they get your body It is sung from the perspective of a girl possessed by a malevolent entity who is playing a deadly game of hide-and-seek with a young boy victim. the Voiceplay team is set in the haunted mansion ride characters.. behind geoff is the busts for the ghosts. So they set it into the haunted mansion. I still recommend listing to the full version of Lauren Paley in the stairwell (she is nicknamed the Stairwell Siren) . She has found the perfect stairwell for an outstanding natural echo effect

They all did such a great job. Eli didn’t have to wear makeup, just boxers, lol. He is really good at those menacing characters. Lauren was the perfect choice. Her TikTok video of her scaring the creep out of her neighbors with this song went viral. There is a mini of her singing in her stairwell with VP providing BGVs. When she sings the line “I can sense your horror” just before that ghost flies out of Cesar’s crystal ball, her eyes glow red for a moment. When she says “are you in the closet” she looks so delighted to have found you 😱! And the entire set and makeup is outstanding. Even though I watched Rick Underwood applying Layne’s makeup, I still had a hard time believing that creepy guy was him. The original, even in Korean (which I didn’t understand) is pretty terrifying. There is an English version as well. The animation is really creepy and combined with the song it’s pretty unsettling.

Good to see you up and about! Lauren had a TikTok go viral of this song. VoicePlay contacted her to be in this and Eli flew up to her to record it. And flew back in time for Hurricane Ian. Lauren is known in her apartment building as the Stairwell Siren. She sings in there and the other residents can hear. The recording Eli did captures that eerieness of the stairwell vibes. Elizabeth of The Charismatic Voice did some of the background ghosts and all.

They are all playing characters from the Disney Haunted Mansion, a spooky-tour ride at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World near Orlando, FL. Layne was the Hatbox Ghost. Geoff was the Caretaker (sometimes going by the name Silas Crump). Eli was Alexander Nitrokoff (a.k.a., "The Dynamite Guy"). Cesar was Madame Leota, who's only visible as a bodiless ghost within the crystal ball. Lauren was the Bride, and her name in the current version of Haunted Mansion is Constance Hatchaway. Finally, Elizabeth is doing an operatic voiceover for the swarm of ghosts toward the end, but her voice can most clearly be heard just before that, after Geoff says, "Looking underneath your bed," as a high harmony to Lauren.

I'm guessing the sheet of important/official looking paper in Eli's hand is probably a clue as to his character's identity, but I'm missing the reference. (Since I'm not familiar with the source material at all, this is unsurprising. Pop culture references are not my long suit in any case.)

The whole thing is an homage to the Disney Haunted Mansion. Geoff is portraying the Caretaker. Eli is Alexander Nitrokoff, one of the portraits in the Stretching Room (you can see his portrait behind him). Cesar is fortune teller, Madame Leota, who appears in the Mansion as a ghostly head in a floating crystal ball. Lauren is Constance Hatchaway, the attic bride (she was filmed separately and did her own makeup). Her "hurry back" at the end is part of what a tiny ghostly bride (often called "Little Leota") says as you exit the ride. And Layne is the Hatbox Ghost, whose head disappears from his neck and reappears in the hatbox he's carrying. The bookshelves are a nod to the Mansion's library of ghost stories, all four stretching portraits can be seen to the right, and the portrait in the middle is Master Gracey, the aging portrait from the Mansion's foyer. Also, Elizabeth Zharoff (aka The Charismatic Voice) provided some extra spooky background voices.
