There's only a handful of countries that don't have legalized prostitution and the US and South Korea are the main first world ones in that group. There are a handful of select counties in Colorado and Nevada that have legalized prostitution (surprisingly, NOT the county Las Vegas is in). Over here, there's a Chaussée d'Amour in every major city or road between two major cities and has been that way for as long as I can remember. Heck, there's even a government program for people like the subject of this comedy bit that trains prostitutes to provide specialized services to handicapped clientele.

I know. You learn a lot working in hospitals, but nothing prepares when emergently disrobing a trauma patient with the scissors, and the pubes look like somebody kicked a wasps nest. Just little buggers freaking out and flying everywhere. Poop, urine, blood, guts, vomit.....no problem, but I about screamed like a little girl when I saw that.

Many would argue that it in fact the very illegality that motivates human trafficking; look at it this way, you can always find someone willing to sell illegal drugs to a minor, but NO licensed liquor store is going to risk their perfectly legal and profitable business buy sellling to a minor. Most of the horrible consequences of prostitution result from it very status as illegal.

i used to work security for an illegal brothel, since i lived in the flat above them, my 7'7" 475lb frame is pretty intimidating to most people but those girls never once looked at me in any other way than there friend, i even used to do repairs to there flats. in terms of prostitution, i dont give a fuck so long as its done right, the brothel i helped out with was ran by a pair of nurses, all the girls all healthy and regularly checked, and clients had to get tested prior to coming, high class, affordable, and the girls get to keep 75% of the money they make, the rest goes to bills and upkeep. thats the kind i dont take issue with, not to mention i got a discount because i kept troublemakers away, im not ashamed to admit i was a regular client as well.

Yes, he's Australian. But he's also drunk. (He was drunk when he started that gig, and he drank the entire time... and that story was fifty minutes in. So he sounds slurred even to Aussies. In Australia, all prostitution must be done on the site of a commercial enterprise. (A brothel.) Any other form of prostitution (happy ending massages, street girls, escorts with "added services",) are illegal. Oh, and this special is from before he sold out to Comedy Central and Jim Jeffries was funny.
