"Y si fuera ella" it's originally a song by spanish song writer Alejandro Sanz. Jonghyun then created new lyrics for the song, and this version was included in the first SHINee album.

jonghyun in my opinion has the best stage presence sm ent has ever seen. He can just pull you into a performance and it's as if you're right there with him. he MAKES you feel the emotion of the song. Y Si Fuera Ella was originally a spanish song but he wrote new lyrics in korean for their first album. i think sm knew how much talent they had on their hands because i find it wild that he got a solo song like THIS on their first album. i'm so excited for you to hear more of his solo works, he is absolutely incredible

SHINee is, like, AMAZING, beautiful group vocally, such a unique team, and a beast in live performance, but even that amazingness COULD NOT CONTAIN all of SHINee members' talent. Jonghyun, as a soloist, is one of a kind. He is amazing in SHINee, but as a soloist, his artistry is really beyond and one of a kind. He's such a poet laced with a voice of an angel. His music, lyrically, is so profound. My #1 all time favorite korean song is Diphylleia Grayi, Jonghyun's song from his 1st Story Op. album. Until this day, I never read the lyric and not getting goosebumps on how much of a poetry that song is. His songs are inspiring, in a way that I usually got from an indie artists. The way he described everything is, gosh, so brilliant. When you read the lyrics, you would really wonder what the hell happened in his head that such a simple absurd events like cockroaches mating was described so beautifully (yes, it happened, and I love that song too). And I only talked from the way he wrote his lyrics because I'm a writer, but you'll see many people who were more expert in music production would say that his choice of music production is sometimes weird, but interesting. Please listen to more of Jonghyun as a soloist, he's such a blessing in our generation, if I may say so.

Jonghyun is THE artist ♥ Déjà-boo is a song completely written and composed by him and he wanted it as title track for his album Base, meanwhile SM pushed for Crazy. He released it as a pre-release then and it did so good, achieving an all-kill on the charts, that SM had to make it his 2nd debut single and turned his showcase stage into the MV last minute. The song he was supposed to perform on music shows only for the first/last week was performed for weeks and got him 8 wins ♥

Fun fact: Deja-boo became Jonghyun's second title track for his debut album, Base, because people loved it so much which is why there is a primary performance video for that song. Jonghyun's song is a cover/rewrite of Alejandro Sanz's "Y si fuera Ella," so most people just call it by its original Spanish title, but Jonghyun's version is called "Hyeya" or"Haeya". Haeya is the girl's name (which I understand translates to "her" or "she") that Jonghyun is singing about that is why it's the only word in the English lyrics that isn't translated because there isn't a translation, it's a name. Jonghyun heard the Spanish song and he and his manager loved it so much that Jonghyun had to make it his own by translating and reworking it into Korean and changing it slightly to make it fit his vision of what the song's message was about. This was one of Jonghyun's most epic and iconic performances of this song. And it will forever be a symbol of what made him such a great artist. In the performance the explosion you heard was not a gunshot, but it was his heart exploding. He felt so passionately about the girl that his heart literally exploded. The song is about how the girl, Haeya, left him and he is in pain because she is no longer with him. The whole song is him begging her to come back to him. He loves her so much that he is dying from the pain of being seperated from her, etc. This was Jonghyun's very first solo single and he was only 18 when this song was first released -- only a few months after SHINee's debut in 2008 -- so this just goes to show you how amazing of an artist he really was. (This specific performance was at their SHINee World Concert II (SWC2) in Seoul in 2012, so he is about 22 here.) His mastery of singing, emotion and stage presence is awe inspiring. If he was this good so early in his career, you can see why he has become so highly respected now after more than 10 years in the industry. Hence, why Jonghyun is known as one of the best singers in the industry, and SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They really are one of the most well rounded groups in Kpop that excel at every aspect of the entertainment industry. It's easy to see why everyone looks up to them. Jonghyun was highly respected for his songwriting and composing skills. He was one of the very first Idols to be recognized as a songwriter and he became one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. He was the first SM Idol to have a fully self-wrote album. Jonghyun was special, and it's songs like this where you can see how powerfully he felt about everything he did. One of the things that he was known for was the fact that he was full of love and compassion for everyone and everything in this world, and he often wore his heart on his sleeve. When he performed you could feel every emotion flowing from his being. That's what made him such a great singer/songwriter, but it was also what I think caused him to feel so much pain. He took everything so personally, both the good and the bad and he never thought he was good enough. He did so much good in his short 27 years and he left behind a great legacy, however, his time was much too short. His legacy includes several dozen songs that were wrote and composed by him. It's one of the things that all Shawols hold onto as part the legend that he left behind that we feel is our duty to share with the world in order to keep his memory alive. He wrote about 40% of SHINee's songs, as well as all of his own solo albums, and several songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy," Lee Hi's "Breathe," IU's "Gloomy Clock" and Taemin's "Pretty Boy" and "Already," among others. He really was one of the greats. People say that when he walked into a room you could feel his star power, and yet he was so humble and down to earth that everyone instantly wanted to be his friend. You did well Jonghyun, our beautiful angel and diamond in the sky.

Shinee was my first K-pop group, and Jonghyun was my bias. Since he passed away I haven’t been able to follow any of their releases and promotions because I just can’t bear to see them as 4 instead of 5. And to this day, I still cry if I listen to Hyeya. Jonghyun's vocals were great in the MV for "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)," but just wait until you see him perform it live, you will understand what we mean when we say SHINee live is on a whole other level. :D What I love about his live performances is that he even covers the rap parts himself. Like all of Jonghyun's solo songs, "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)" was also wrote by him, so the whole vibe of this song was designed by him. And that is why he was so highly respected as a singer/songwriter and why he was one of the first and very few Idols to really be considered a true songwriter and composer. He was a genius when it came to making music and he chose very carefully which songs he wanted to release himself and what kind of message he wanted to give. He never released music just because he thought it would be a hit, but everything he did was meticulously planned and designed by him to make an impact regardless of whether it would be a hit from the the moment it was released. All his music had a deeper message. He was a true artist in all aspects of the music industry. The spider I interpret as a black widow and it was meant to represent how she is controlling him and driving him crazy. He is stuck in her beautiful web, etc. She is his guilty pleasure. The Korean version of "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)" was Jonghyun's lead track on his solo debut album Base from 2O15. Fun fact: All of SHINee's members' debut albums have one word titles and they all rhyme. Taemin's Ace, Jonghyun's Base, Onew's Voice and Key's Face. The joke within the fandom is that Minho's first solo album will probably be named Race because of his well known love of sports and his need to always win and to always push himself to be the best. Jonghyun was the one to come up with the idea to connect his album to the group by making it rhyme with the title of Taemin's solo debut album, and the others have followed the tradition. The members have said the reason why they deliberately name their first solo album in this way is to show everyone that no matter what they do they are always a group and SHINee is very important to them. It's a way for the members to show their solidarity as SHINee even when doing solo projects. On a side note: Jonghyun was pretty much ripped like that since debut. All the members of SHINee have amazing bodies, just wait until you see SHINee's performance of "Dynamite" at their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul from 2015, you will start to understand what I mean. ;D When you think about it, they all have to be that fit in order to be able to do all that they do -- to be able to sing and sound flawless while performing the choreography that they do, and to do it for hours straight, makes it so they are required to stay in shape. SHINee are known for the fact that they always sing live, so they have to be in top condition in order to dance like they do while maintaining stable vocals the whole time. That is why in concert they can perform really intense choreography for 4 or 5 songs in a row while singing live and continue to sound even better than their studio recordings from beginning to end, and then hold a conversation with the audience imminently after and still not look or sound out of breath. You did well Jonghyun, you will forever be the best poet/artist a beautiful spirit that we were privileged to have a chance to get to know. The featured rapper who is part of Jonghyun's studio version of "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)" is named Iron, who, at the time, was a popular newer artist who became famous as a contestant on the Korean rap completion show called Show Me the Money. So, being featured in Jonghyun's song was sort of his big break in the industry. But Iron got into some serious trouble with the law after first being caught with drugs and was suspended from the industry not long after working on this MV. This is about the only time you will see Iron in anything, and other than releasing his first and only album about a year after this, his legal troubles only got worse and his career ended. He died last year.

The featured rapper in "Deja Boo" is Zion T. who is a well known K-hip-hop and R&B artist and he was really good friends with Jonghyun, so it was fitting that he was featured on Jonghyun's first album. Zion T helped Jonghyun compose the song, but if I remember right, Jonghyun was the one that wrote all the lyrics for "Deja Boo," including the rap lyrics. (None of the members of SHINee are featured in Jonghyun's solo work. What you are hearing is all Jonghyun's vocals.) "Deja Boo" is the B-side promotional tack Jonghyun promoted with for his solo debut album Base, alongside "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)". I can't wait for you to hear Jonghyun's "Hallelujah," which is another song on his Base album. It is a very beautiful song. When you react to the live performance of "Hallelujah," please also check out his dance practice for the song. The choreography is very beautiful and it's a great way to see just how good of a dancer/solo performer he really was, as well. Jonghyun really could do it all. Actually, who wrote the lyrics was Kenzie and not Jonghyun, SM bought the rights to the song but when they tried to translate it was very difficult and it lost its meaning so Kenzie decided to write a new lyric, as you said this song is on the first album means which was 3 months after debut, there was no way SM would let an idol who had just debuted do that, no matter how talented he was, the first song Jonghyun made for SHINee was on the Romeo album 1 year later, and this was already something very unique, if I remember correctly he signed up with a false name and his lyrics won against 30 lyrics that also applied for the main track of the album Romeu the song is Juliette A lot of people think that and unfortunately give wrong information about this song, it's possible that Jonghyun helped in some way and give his feedback because there was a rumour that Hyeya was the name of Jonghyun's ex before he debuted but that was just a rumour was never confirmed. You know I grew up listening to this original Alejandro Sanz song and I really love it, it's actually one of my favorites of his, but still Jonghyun made me prefer his version Now about Jonghyun the way I see him he's like an onion lol you know with many layers every time you find and get one you see in the other and other and other is like you receive a new surprise all the time Now Crazy and Deja Bu he wrote and composed both actually Base he did 95% of that and he did the direction as well not only with Base but all his albums

Small correction, he didn't compose or write crazy. If anything he didn't even want it to be the title for that very reason lol but SM gave him no choice. He did end up pre-releasing déjà boo, which he actually wanted for the title and which ended up much more successful than crazy, SMs choice, hence why they scrapped to give us a MV for deja boo last minute, so that he could win on music shows with it.

I'm so happy that you ended with Deja Boo! It's one of my favourite songs from Jonghyun!! And it's so happy! The song was a pre release for Crazy and had a lot more poplarity than Crazy back then so SM release this live MV so it counts for music shows because it was going VERY well on Korean music charts. I have been a Shawol since almost as long as the group has existed (yeah, old one here...) and Jognhyun will always be my ultimate ult. I love his voice, his tone, the way he played with his voice (even if I was not always thrilled by his musical choices), the amount of feelings he was able to convey in his singing, his phenomenal stage presence (and I mean, he literally captured my attention every time even when performing with SHINee which are like the AVENGERS of stage presence imo). He was MEANT for the stage and he shined so bright on it! And as you said, he has a very distinctive singing. Always LOVED it. Now, if you like fun and playful Jonghyun, White T-Shirt is my personnal favorite of his songs : serotonine boost assured, I highly recomment it!!

I like your attitude towards every artists you have been reacted to, it's full of support and respect even if you don't actually like or enjoy, I always see your respect for them. And Jonghyun he's literally THE most artistic person I've ever known, to me, most of artists transfer the emotions but Jjong IS the emotion. I think you’d love Jonghyun’s Guerilla Concert (check even not by song cuts). He’s such a good talker, so smooth and the way he changes parts of the song with the band impromptu is just so coolX And gosh Jonghyun’s discography is just chef’s kiss.. not to mention he composed and wrote most of it.

Deja-Boo doesn't have an actual music video because it was a B-side he was performing with Crazy but it ended up doing better, so he ended up promoting that one, too. SM then made that video compilation.

Its really lovely that you picked out Deja boo as your favorite, as it was the one song out of the 3 you reacted to here that Jonghyun composed. I think you should probably listen to Jonghyuns Like You, it has a very similar vibe to Deja boo. I said it before I really think for most of his songs theres a good reason to look at the lyrics, its usually an experience. He really has a lot of beautiful emotional songs, but Im curious what your thoughts would be of Orbit (theres a live performance tho no subs in it).

Y Si Fur Ella, omg, everytime I hear him sing this I cry. Having watched his career blossom, then seeing his end, I just feel heartbroken every time I hear this. Ty Austin for reacting to this fantastic artist and young man. He wrote a lot of Shinee material, check out stage performances.

Completely my TMI I adopted a betta fish and named it 'Deja-Boo' on his song. Surprisingly, when I play Deja-Boo and Haeya songs to my Deja-Boo( ofcourse on very low volume n not with woofer or heavy bass), it kind'a shows happy fish vibes. Naming it Deja-Boo kind'a gives me proud Shawol feelings!

The passed couple of days I only listened to Jonghyun's albums for his birthday. His music brings so much comfort to me, while at the same time making me blush when I look at the lyrics of a lot of them lol (Inspiration, Moon, Cocktail just to name a few of them). I am so grateful that he decided to share his talents with us, I really do believe that we wouldn't have many of the artists in Kpop that we do today if Jonghyun had decided that he wanted to be a teacher instead.

Great reaction as always! Deja Boo is one of my favourite Jonghyun songs. Even my mother plays it in her car lol along with some of his other songs. He did an awesome performance of it on Sketchbook as well. Zion T is great. I love his music and his vibe. But yeah Jjong' s jazzy, funky style is my favourite. He definitely experimented a lot but he always came back to that sound.

I FREAKED when it came out lol My favorite b-side song on his debut album "Neon" had people either hating it or loving it, due to the song being very experimental. It's still a little hard for me to listen to his last album
