Y Si Fuera Ella was originally sung by a Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz. Jonghyun did an amazing job. I love Alejandro Sanz, I use to listen to the original version but I love Jonghyun’s version too.

Jonghyun's song is a cover/rewrite of Alejandro Sanz's "Y si fuera Ella," so most people just call it by its original Spanish title, but Jonghyun's version is called "Hyeya" or"Haeya". Haeya is the girl's name (which I understand translates to "her" or "she") that Jonghyun is singing about that is why it's the only word in the English lyrics that isn't translated because there isn't a translation, it's a name. Jonghyun heard the Spanish song and he and his manager loved it so much that Jonghyun had to make it his own by translating and reworking it into Korean and changing it slightly to make it fit his vision of what the song's message was about. This was one of Jonghyun's most epic and iconic performances of this song. And it will forever be a symbol of what made him such a great artist. In the performance the explosion you heard was not a gunshot, but it was his heart exploding. He felt so passionately about the girl that his heart literally exploded. The song is about how the girl, Haeya, left him and he is in pain because she is no longer with him. The whole song is him begging her to come back to him. He loves her so much that he is dying from the pain of being seperated from her, etc. This was Jonghyun's very first solo single and he was only 18 when this song was first released -- only a few months after SHINee's debut in 2008 -- so this just goes to show you how amazing of an artist he really was. (This specific performance was at their SHINee World Concert II (SWC2) in Seoul in 2012, so he is about 22 here.) His mastery of singing, emotion and stage presence is awe inspiring. If he was this good so early in his career, you can see why he has become so highly respected now after more than 10 years in the industry. Hence, why Jonghyun is known as one of the best singers in the industry, and SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They really are one of the most well rounded groups in Kpop that excel at every aspect of the entertainment industry. It's easy to see why everyone looks up to them. Jonghyun was highly respected for his songwriting and composing skills. He was one of the very first Idols to be recognized as a songwriter and he became one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. He was the first SM Idol to have a fully self-wrote album. Jonghyun was special, and it's songs like this where you can see how powerfully he felt about everything he did. One of the things that he was known for was the fact that he was full of love and compassion for everyone and everything in this world, and he often wore his heart on his sleeve. When he performed you could feel every emotion flowing from his being. That's what made him such a great singer/songwriter, but it was also what I think caused him to feel so much pain. He took everything so personally, both the good and the bad and he never thought he was good enough. He did so much good in his short 27 years and he left behind a great legacy, however, his time was much too short. His legacy includes several dozen songs that were wrote and composed by him. It's one of the things that all Shawols hold onto as part the legend that he left behind that we feel is our duty to share with the world in order to keep his memory alive. He wrote about 40% of SHINee's songs, as well as all of his own solo albums, and several songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy," Lee Hi's "Breathe," IU's "Gloomy Clock" and Taemin's "Pretty Boy" and "Already," among others. He really was one of the greats. People say that when he walked into a room you could feel his star power, and yet he was so humble and down to earth that everyone instantly wanted to be his friend. You did well Jonghyun, our beautiful angel and diamond in the sky.

Jonghyun's vocals were great in the MV for "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)," but just wait until you see him perform it live, you will understand what we mean when we say SHINee live is on a whole other level. :D What I love about his live performances is that he even covers the rap parts himself. Like all of Jonghyun's solo songs, "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)" was also wrote and composed by him, so the whole vibe of this song was designed by him. And that is why he was so highly respected as a singer/songwriter and why he was one of the first and very few Idols to really be considered a true songwriter and composer. He was a genius when it came to making music and he chose very carefully which songs he wanted to release himself and what kind of message he wanted to give. He never released music just because he thought it would be a hit, but everything he did was meticulously planned and designed by him to make an impact regardless of whether it would be a hit from the the moment it was released. All his music had a deeper message. He was a true artist in all aspects of the music industry. The spider I interpret as a black widow and it was meant to represent how she is controlling him and driving him crazy. He is stuck in her beautiful web, etc. She is his guilty pleasure. The Korean version of "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)" was Jonghyun's lead track on his solo debut album Base from 2O15. Fun fact: All of SHINee's members' debut albums have one word titles and they all rhyme. Taemin's Ace, Jonghyun's Base, Onew's Voice and Key's Face. The joke within the fandom is that Minho's first solo album will probably be named Race because of his well known love of sports and his need to always win and to always push himself to be the best. Jonghyun was the one to come up with the idea to connect his album to the group by making it rhyme with the title of Taemin's solo debut album, and the others have followed the tradition. The members have said the reason why they deliberately name their first solo album in this way is to show everyone that no matter what they do they are always a group and SHINee is very important to them. It's a way for the members to show their solidarity as SHINee even when doing solo projects. On a side note: Jonghyun was pretty much ripped like that since debut. All the members of SHINee have amazing bodies, just wait until you see SHINee's performance of "Dynamite" at their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul from 2015, you will start to understand what I mean. ;D When you think about it, they all have to be that fit in order to be able to do all that they do -- to be able to sing and sound flawless while performing the choreography that they do, and to do it for hours straight, makes it so they are required to stay in shape. SHINee are known for the fact that they always sing live, so they have to be in top condition in order to dance like they do while maintaining stable vocals the whole time. That is why in concert they can perform really intense choreography for 4 or 5 songs in a row while singing live and continue to sound even better than their studio recordings from beginning to end, and then hold a conversation with the audience imminently after and still not look or sound out of breath. You did well Jonghyun, our man in the moon. The featured rapper who is part of Jonghyun's studio version of "Crazy (Guilty Pleasure)" is named Iron, who, at the time, was a popular newer artist who became famous as a contestant on the Korean rap completion show called Show Me the Money. So, being featured in Jonghyun's song was sort of his big break in the industry. But Iron got into some serious trouble with the law after first being caught with drugs and was suspended from the industry not long after working on this MV. This is about the only time you will see Iron in anything, and other than releasing his first and only album about a year after this, his legal troubles only got worse and his career ended. He died last year.

The word Hyeya sounds the same as the word Ella from the original song in Spanish, I think it was really cleaver how they included that in the Korean version. Also the original singer/songwriter, Alejandro Saenz, shared Jonghyun's version of the song on a few occasions mentioning how music knows no languages and can be appreciated by everyone around the world

Y Si Fuera Ella is a remake of a 1997 Spanish song, it was on the debut SHINee album You still have some of his MVs left, Deja Boo and End Of A Day are great Life performances of Crazy + Juliette (it's better than Tokyo Dome performance of Crazy because that one has post-edited sound, if you wanna hear live vocals I recommend Juliette + Crazy version), Skeleton Flower, End of a day are amazing. There aren't many with official videos, only a lot of fancams And I highly recommend listen to his solo albums, he has a lot of songs, his music is incredibly diverse and he wrote/composed 95% of it himself

It was a lovely way to celebrate Jjong day. Y Si Fuera Ella (혜야; Hyeya) was an original Spanish song by Alejandro Sanz. The lyrics changed up to fit with korean. The Korean title is in brackets. It's such an iconic performance that although the song is sad it's amazing to watch and is a celebration of Jjong's artistry and talent. The little doggo is Roo (short for Byulroo meaning not good...given by Minho when she pooped on his shirt as a puppy) Jonghyun's song At End of the Day was written by him for her. Crazy is one of my favourite Jjong songs.. he looks and sounds amazing as always. Love you and miss you always Our Moon. Happy Birthday Jjong.

I know this reaction video is old by now, but I don't think we'll really have another singer like Jonghyun. At least not for a long time. His stage presence, skill in singing techniques and emoting, his songwriting and composing ability, for me he's in a class of singers that only come around once in a few generations. He never achieved the type of fame that I think he would have, given his hard work and skill, but I would not say it an exaggeration to compare him to the greats like Sinatra or Etta James, Prince, Buddy Holly, etc. He had what it took. Jonghyun was actually scouted by SM at a show where his band was performing, he was the bass player! His solo concerts always had a live band and he had more songs without choreo than with, he would just fill the stage with his charisma. His stage presence was the best in SHINee imo which is saying something seeing as that is one of their greatest strengths as a group. For happy you should have watched Deja-Boo haha! For title tracks you still have Deja-Boo, End Of A Day, Lonely and Before Our Spring (the latter 3 are more melancholy, the last one is kind of a tribute, it's more beautiful than sad, Lonely ft. Taeyeon is the hardest watch imo), there are also mvs for Your Voice and Fortune Cookie! Onew's Dice is out on Monday! In y si fuera ella, the ending is supposed to be his heart bursting because of all the emotions he's feeling. And he wrote the korean lyrics but the song is meant to be a korean version of another song by the same name. (They asked permission to use it because Jonghyun loved the original song so much, he wanted to make his own version).

Jonghyun is one of my favorite singers, even though I know he's from SHinee, I always see videos where only he sings, the others aren't bad, but he has that something... it's an instant connection with the senses. I love Jjong but I disliked the way Kenzie wrote it. She made a song of pain and dispair when the song is more hopeful. If you translate the title by what the song says it is what if she's the one? Or to me is she the one? It is about him with a woman who is not what he wants and she pulls him and pushes him, but when the relationship is ending he asks himself, is she the one, the one I'm losing is she the one? Kenzie wrote a song begging the person not to leave that he will die...

Jonghyun had a huge love of live music, I don’t know for certain if it was his idea for the band for Crazy but most of his solo concerts had a live band, including some SHINee concerts! Love that as I also think you can’t beat a live band 🤩
