I loved the slow mo scenes, editing how Arthur tells stories and how they made him street smart. Also, magic is there, but its no solution to everything and magic raises more questions, giving such mystified feeling to film. Its so shame sequels never came around. I really enjoyed the setting and story they were creating.

When this first came out, I was bored one day after work and wandered around Pacific Place Mall in Seattle and I just happen to walk by the AMC then I saw the poster for this movie. I had no clue what it was nor have I seen a trailer for it. I went in not expecting much but from the very opening scene....the visuals, the sound, the music, the story, the intensity!! It drew me right in and by the end of it, this became one of my favorite historical action films! I later found out that a 6-part franchise was scrapped because this movie bombed so hard and it made me so upset. I hope one day, it can be picked up and continued! I think over time, people began to recognize it more and more. So far I have shown 4 of my friends this movie and they all loved it! I am so glad to see you guys giving this film the recognition it deserves!

my favorite version of the king Arthur legend is the tv show Merlin which Was a show that revolved around the relationship between a young Merlin and Arthur and how their destinies were intertwined

The action scenes were AMAZING. This is what a real life version of anime sword fighting would look like - you can literally SEE and FEEL the power in every swing like there is actually someone inhumanly strong wielding it, in both the superpowered and regular people. Shame this movie flopped, I thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment value it had.

The biggest stand out to me is the score. The music feels purposedly made for this movie and has its own identity compared to other Arthurian films, especially with the visuals. I hear that there is a longer version of the movie (about 3 & 1/2 hours long) that Guy Richie was forced to edit down. Even the beginning was originally 30 to 40 minutes long before we even reached the opening credits. If they were to finish and release the longer version, I think more people would be interested in it and give it the attention it deserves.

I vastly prefer this film to the flood of Arthurian projects over the years so I was sad it wasn't going to be expanded on. Serving as an introduction to this world, some may find it hard to stay invested due to it lacking character development with a bloated cast. Still it is beautifully shot, good production, and outlined of an interesting retelling but it was just not enough to offset such a massive budget.

It was a good fantasy movie, but it's a clear example of why the trend to make "new original takes on something people love" is a risky one for investors. Decent amount of these attempts confuse "original" with "so stupid, nobody thought of this before and rightly so" or feed directly into creators delusions of own excellence. Some latest Ridley Scott's movies are good example of the latter... while this movie is a good example of the former. It bombed, and rightly so - and maybe all it needed to be an earner, was for the creators to just come up with new character names and sell this as original story. It's so far from Arthurian legends, nobody would challenge its originality. If it was allowed to stand on its own legs, this movie might have a chance of defending itself, with this cast, score, action sequences and Ritchie's undeniable talent. But instead, it borrowed mismatched legs from somewhere else, and what's even worse, it attempted to carry a weight of new franchise-to-be, with crucial characters and the resolution of the story essentially missing, held in reserve to have something for next movies.

Moana a beat this film. XXX:return of Xander Cage beat moana. Star Wars the last Jedi was the top film that year. Guardians of the galaxy 2 was the 4th. Wonder Woman was 3rd. Why did a film about a legendary/mythical king of the britons lose to 3 retired old guys robbing a bank or why did a film about an overpowered Mary Sue beat everything that year? Who knows.

I didn't hate this movie, but my problem is that they tried to fuse the Arthurian legend with the Robin Hood legend. The outlaw becoming the hero? While it is at it's base fulfilling, it ignores the basics of the Arthurian base mythology.
