Changmin debuted when he was 14 years old. He is such a legendary figure in kpop and is only 33 years old now. To call him amazing is an understatement. I admire him so much. Xiumin is also the biggest Changmin fanboy and Xiumin said that Changmin is his role model. It's funny cause they're only 2 years apart in age. Also, another fun fact, Changmin and Kyungsoo trained under the same SM vocal trainer called Yoo Young Jin
@yixingswife13803 жыл бұрын
He, D.O. and Aespa's Winter are students of Yoo Youngjin, a famous SM producer and vocal coach. I think he only choose a few trainees to train under his wing and they all turn out to be vocally excellent.

I think haechan too, no?
@yixingswife13803 жыл бұрын
@@waad-chan.975 I don't think he trained anyone from NCT. Maybe at some point during their trainee days where they had few lessons, I assume - bec. they refer to him as 'Teacher' instead of just Director YYJ. But to have been mentored like those 3 is different. I also noticed that Winter and D.O. are particularly adept at changing their parts a bit during live perf. when they kind of growl. I think it's kind of unique to both of them and I'm guessing it's one of the techniques they got from him. Plus winter referred to him as 'Dad' in that video where the members are teasing her as 'YYJ's daughter'. Changmin too mentioned him in an interview. And we know D.O.'s case - he basically collaborated with him from the get-go.

With the title song You Bring Me Joy, this song is included in the album The One. After Taeyeon's debut, the one invited Taeyeon to duet again With the title song like a star. "I feel like his whole album is just going to be a vocal flex" ...at this point, I think his whole career is a vocal flex LOL ps: "Fever" was actually written and produced entirely by Yoo Youngjin, he has been his mentor/vocal coach since the beginning of his career, and he's known for working closely only with very few selected idols he picks (including our fave Kyungsoo) ...Yoo Youngjin is also responsible for Aespa "Savage" and lots of other iconic SM songs, and his usual style and sound are so distinct that even I can recognize it right away, even without any proper knowledge about music!
@milindawilson91753 жыл бұрын
Can you believe that "Chocolate" was Max/Changmin's solo debut? After 17 years in the industry, Changmin finally had his official solo debut in 2020 with this song, which is the title track from his first mini solo album. And in true Changmin TVXQ style he blows it out of the water. Both Changmin and U-Know had a few solo singles before this, but it wasn't until 2019 for U-Know with his song "Follow" and then Max, almost a year later, that they finally both have solo albums. (Fun fact: Changmin also got married in 2020.) His performance of "Fever" -- which is a pre-release single from his second solo mini album Devil -- was a special stage from SM Entertainment's online New Year's Eve SMTown SMCU Express concert. Yes, the whole "Maniac" promotion video is a homage to classic horror movies. As you noticed, the opening is Psycho. A large part of the video also references The Shining, Vertigo, The Birds, and even The Big Lebowski, North by Northwest, Brazil and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, etc. And, yep, SM used "Devil" to draw Changmin/TVXQ into its SM Culture Universe with the reference to Kwanyga in the lyrics and the pink planet you see in the MV, etc. I guess as Rising Gods of the East, it makes sense that TVXQ could be otherworldly-beings just like the rest of SM's groups and artists, in order to connect their storyline to the rest of SM's Universe. As you heard Changmin is known for his powerful high notes (even more powerful than Onew or Jonghyun from SHINee or Chen and Baekhyun from EXO), he literally has one of the widest note ranges of almost any Kpop artist. In a high note battle he always wins. It wouldn't be a TVXQ/Changmin song if we didn't get to hear at least one unbelievable high note from him in every song. Here is some background to help you understand the dynamics of TVXQ better. TVXQ (English and Chinese)/DBSK (Korean)/ Tohoshinki (Japanese), which each are the abbreviations/acronyms of the words in each language that translates to mean "Rising Gods of the East," debuted in 2003 as a 5 member group. But, in 2010 three of their members left SM Entertainment and the group and formed a new group called JYJ -- the initials of the members: Junsu, Yoochun and Jaejoong. (Up until recently, JYJ was still a group and they still produce music, but because they left SM Entertainment -- one of the most powerful and influential companies in the industry -- on less than ideal terms, it has made it more difficult for them to promote themselves and their music. So the members of JYJ are more known as actors and producers than they are as singers now.) However, Max/Changmin and U-Know/Yunho continued as TVXQ as a duo. The day after Christmas was TVXQ/DBSK/Tohoshinki's 18th anniversary, and even now as a duo they are so talented that they have the vocal range to cover all the parts of a song between the two of them, including rap. TVXQ's fandom is Cassiopeia and their fan color is red, so when you attend a TVXQ concert you will see an ocean of red. Welcome to the Cassiopeia fandom. If you like TVXQ then you are a Cassi. Yes, TVXQ truly are all-time legends in the music industry. As an SM Entertainment group, it is no surprise that the members of TVXQ are outstanding vocalists. Being some of the best dancers and vocalists in the industry is what we have come to expect from all of SM's artists and groups. That's just a fact about the type of people SM selects to be a part of its company. Changmin (the youngest member) was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old when they debuted, so even though they are one of the senior Kpop groups, Changmin is only 33 and U-know is 35. TVXQ is SM's most senior group, but U-Know and Changmin are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation. They are best friends with Super Junior and they pretty much all grew up together. Changmin is also best friends with Minho from SHINee. And Xiumin from EXO says Changmin was one of the reason why he auditioned for SM because he wanted to meet Changmin and become like him. Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are one of the most famous singers in Japan as well, even among Japanese artists. And like SHINee, they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene. TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are SM Entertainment's top selling group, easily selling out concert tours around the world.

I like how purely he jumps into dramatics and full expressiveness. Not a lot of male artists go into that territory unless they're deliberately going against the "rules" of masculinity (which is something I love about the artists that do challenge norms), but Changmin doesn't even bother addressing the rules, he just goes in full force as if it's the most natural thing in the world. I agree with you, Austin. His music is not always my thing, but the past few months (including this perfect album as well as "Human") have been dead-on hits for me.

I believe he said (in the pre-release countdown special) that Fever was inspired by Imagine Dragons and Manic was by the band Queen and rock opera like in Rocky Horror Picture Show -so you weren't far off! You should definitely check out his live stages! He did some music shows with Chocolate and there's one out for Devil now too. He's done MVs for some slower songs as well a b-side called Me, Myself and I from his last mini album, All That Love from last year, and Rise As One from before his military service. He's also done some sexier, R&B songs as solo b-sides over the years and there's some spicy live stages for those if you're ready for that... Heaven's Day and Closer. (It's a lot, but don't say I didn't warn you!) For other TVXQ lives anything from Nissan Stadium is amazing! I think you can watch the whole thing on KZbin from a few years ago. I also recommend Love In The Ice live it's an older TVXQ song with all 5 members but it's so beautiful.

You really missed out by not watching the sm concert. It was seriously incredible. One of the things I look forward to every year for the last 2 years.
