Story #3, "Tight Squeeze": MrBallen: "John Jones and his family were avid spelunkers...." Me: That's always the sign of a terrible story from MrBallen. "Avid cave divers", "Experienced back-country hikers", "Excellent hunters", "Good swimmers".... these words mean nothing. Nothing at all.

Why would the zoo have an alarm go off when someone falls into a tiger enclosure? The only purpose that would serve is to rile them up even further. Best option is to deal with it as silently as possible.

The last one is literally my worst nightmare! I am so disturbed right now. I would literally take the tiger over the cave. I grew up in Northern California and everybody goes to Shasta Caverns at some point (usually in school). It's a great cave system that has trails and is really open and only has guided tours. It still freaks the living shit out of me! Really pretty if you're into cave systems though.

The second is the Indian Ocean tsunami which hit Sri Lanka the worst. It force creations of sea walls all over the Indian Ocean and moved back the beach buildings by force. It also made tsunami sirens mandatory in these countries and the instant an earthquake strong enough to create a tsunami hits anywhere it blares very loudly letting you know to run.

11:25 I've been it that cave many times growing up andit gets very tight in some spots I'm pretty sure I know where he got stuck but I was only like 10 so I fit. This guy got stuck and they could not retrieve his body so now the cave entrance is sealed off with concrete. A few people had died over the years so its was taken off maps then once they could not get him they closed it forever. Picture of John at the end is at the opening of the cave. Also never go head first into a small opening.

Honestly, depending on how much time they had to run away from the tsunami wave, if they didn't have too much time I probably would have done the same thing. It sounds like they may have had some time but water moves fast and it might just be the way Mr. Ballen is telling the story (not bashing him- he's a very good story teller I love watching Thurston's reactions to him)

Thurston: "230,000 people?!?" - Yes. There are whole towns and villages in Indonesia (the country hit just 20 minutes after the ocean centered 9.0 earthquake happened) were completely and utterly wiped off the map along with everybody in them. In Aceh Provence, Indonesia, alone 170,000 people lost their lives. All-told, 15 countries, from South Africa to Thailand, had deaths associated with this Tsunami. I believe you have reacted to it before, maybe a year ago or more, but perhaps you can find another short documentary to react to about it?

The earthquake was magnitude 9.4
@newgrl3 жыл бұрын
@@dayangmarikit6860 How about we split the difference? Every source I'm finding says it was between 9.1-9.3 Mw. It was originally recorded as 9.0 on the Richter, but has subsequently been upgraded. Either way, it was a big fcukin' earthquake followed by unending destruction from the tsunami far and wide. I've always heard it was 9.0 Mw, so I appreciate the chance to do further research.

If you watch a few more MrBallen videos, you'll discover that a surprising number of people's bodies, at least surprising to me, are left where they died as they are impossible to retrieve. From the hundreds of people who have died on the hike to the peak of Mt. Everest, to caves and underwater caves. Rescuers either just can't find them, like in underwater caves, or they are too hard to get back to their families, like this poor man.

I honestly would have given the last guy a fatal dose of narcotics in a vein in his foot once it became obvious there was no way out. I've had IVs placed in my feet before so yes it's absolutely possible to do that and they had access to his feet. It is cruel and unusual punishment to let him go out the way he did.

Mr. Ballen is an excellent story teller. Top Notch. Fascinating Horror has a whole video on Nutty Putty cave and what happened. The guy who was killed by the Tiger might have had that cat disease that affects people's minds. It literally is what causes Crazy Cat lady syndrome. Rats who get it try to cuddle up with cats even though they know the cat will kill them.
@20ksparkz263 жыл бұрын
WTF is that rat part common or rare
@davebcf12313 жыл бұрын
That's called toxoplasmosis. You're right about the rat part, but it definitely doesn't cause "crazy cat lady syndrome." Most people don't even get symptoms from it and never know they had it. For the few who get symptoms it's usually like the flu, but longer lasting. Can cause muscle aches, fever, headaches, swollen lymph nodes and fatigue. In people with compromised immune systems it can cause confusion, lung problems, blurred vision and seizures . The effect is very different in mice and rats. It causes them to lose their fear of cats, and in males can cause them to be attracted to the odor of cat urine. Pretty crafty parasite.

The strongest tsunamis of the 21st century so far are the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami which was triggered by a magnitude 9.4 under sea earthquake, and the 2011 Japanese tsunami which was triggered by a magnitude 9.1 under sea earthquake. The Indian Ocean tsunami killed approximately 230,000 to 250,000 people in a number of countries, such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India and those in the East Coast of Africa.
@20ksparkz263 жыл бұрын
im pretty sure it was magnitude 9.0
@dayangmarikit68603 жыл бұрын
@20ksparkz No, kindly fact check please, Google is your friend, this is easily verifiable online... the earthquake that caused the Indian Ocean tsunami was magnitude (9.4), which is stronger than the one that hit Japan in 2011.

Not to take anything away from how hard Sri Lanka got hit, but the Aceh Provence in Indonesia was the first and hardest hit area. It was hit just 20 minutes after the quake. Fully 75-80% of the dead and displaced come from this costal region of Indonesia alone. Like I said, not takin' anything from you though... Sri Lanka got hit a couple of hours later and there were no natural protections (like other lands) to stop it, so they also took a huge beating. All told, there are 15 countries that have dead related to this event.

Holy shit. The people throwing rocks should be prosecuted for his death. I'm guessing he died, I haven't finished it, that's why I didn't say, "They should also be prosecuted.". What a bunch of morons. This is why wild, dangerous animals should NEVER be in captivity. Dean, I think his last name is Schneider or something, he has many videos with his lion pack. HOWEVER, people don't understand that 1. those lions have been with him since they were born and therefore he is part of their pack. And 2, and most importantly, is that Dean is trained. He understands that despite being fully a part of their pack, he knows that they are dangerous creatures, and treats them as such.
