Hhaha same we also have six, 5 young ones who live outside, and 1 that lives inside who was recently adopted (he is at least 8 years old, bur the rescue didn’t know exactly ) How do your ferrets get along, and are they housed thogether) Just very curious, as i only know people with 1 or 2 ferrets or at the max 3.
@FurFeathersAndScales4 жыл бұрын
@@F907. They get along great. They formed two groups of "best friends", but still all cuddle and play together. They all live in a room. Ferrets are social and do best in groups that mimic litter sizes (~3-8). Unless they are unfixed males, but all our males are either castrated or have a chemical implant that prevents them from going into season.
@F907.4 жыл бұрын
Yea we have all men, they also get along awesome except for the old ferret, he doesn’t show intrest in the other boys at the moment, the other boys are 3 brothers and 2 brothers from a different litter, they are all chemically castrated (exept the old one he is castrated regularly) and they always want to sleep together, we have like plenty hides and hammocks for everyone to get a separate one but they always end up sleeping together in a big pile or cramped up in a hammock or hide, do yours do that too? It is nice to see that you have 6 ferrets, ive never met someone who has that many, except for myself!

I found your channel while researching how to care for mice because my daughter suddenly was given a mouse. I picked up a companion for my daughter's mouse both are female and getting along well. We are starting with a wire cage about 20inches wide and 2 tiers. I just upgraded their wheel to the Niteangle and we will get a bigger cage and more enrichment toys when our bank account allows. It is important for all people to know that everyone starts somewhere and we are learning and growing as we go.

I had a terrarium for mine which wasn't giving the air they needed and they also didn't have much to climb on maybe 3 or 4 houses. When i look back i just really feel bad for the missing knowledge. It's been like 5 or 6 years and the enclosures really have improved. My first four mice came with two 20-gallon tanks that I had to connect with tubes. The tubes were an absolute nightmare to work with (like they had to be held together with duct tape) and I had one escape artist mouse named Peppercorn who kept escaping through the holes in the wire mesh tops for the tubes. I lived in an awful place so she kept joining the wild mice that lived in the house and I spent a month straight trying to catch her. When I moved in with my dad last year, I only took one of the tanks and I left all the tubes behind because I intended to get something better ASAP. My grandpa bought me a 40-gallon reptile enclosure that opened in the front. I was going to go with an IKEA DETOLF but this was a more convenient option. It's easier to work with and clean because it opens in the front.

Love these videos Emi 🥰 it just goes to show that everyone can make “mistakes” with pet care and it’s completely fine as long as we learn from it. I think a lot of us get a bit defensive when someone gives constructive criticism (not hate, which is very different) but in the end it’s all part of the process of owning small animals! Especially when there isn’t really a lot of great resources out there, we can all learn from each other to give our little friends the best lives possible✨

I live in the United States sadly and neutering male mice is on heard of like you are batshit crazy if you call up an exotic vet and ask if they can neuter your male Mouse that's why I'm thinking of rescuing African soft fur rats but the Dilemma is most African soft fur rats in United States are sold as feeder which means there's a high chance of me ending up with a pregnant soft for a rat Also the standard of mice care in the United States is very questionable some people say three mice can live in a 10 gallon tank other people say three mice should live in a 20 gallon long
@cupcake50004 жыл бұрын
Hello, I recently got two female african soft furs that I plan to introduce to my male mouse. The way I found is easiest (in my opinion) to find not pregnant females is to look for an ad on Craigslist or a similar website. Usually the people who have ASFs on there breed them themselves and separate them before the females reach maturity. Pet stores usually will not do this. Hope this helps!

hi, so recently i added another baby rat to the cage where i had currently two other rats. they were about three months older than she was, and there was quite a size difference (she wasnt an actual baby but she was quite young). i had introduced them over the course of a few days and all was going fine- apart from the occasional squeak. then, last night i woke up to check on them, and saw one of them literally eating the other one. i dont know why they did it, and i was just wondering if i could ask a few questions, and maybe you or someone in the comments could help me/answer. so, first question is, do you have any idea why they would have eaten her, and two, will they become aggressive now that they've cannibalized her and should we get rid of the two remaining rats. i have no idea if anyone will know the answer to these questions, but im hoping someone will. thank you so much :)
@MyPerfectMischief4 жыл бұрын
Rats will sometimes eat another rat if it’s dead. This is normal behavior, and they do it to protect themselves from predators that might try to follow the smell. For some reason, that rat died overnight, and they were trying to get rid of the body. They won’t become aggressive because of that incident. As for should you get rid of the other two. If everyone else is getting along just fine,then no. If they’re fighting (and not playfully), then you might want to look into reintroductions.

This is completely unrelated, but does anybody have any tips for me? My baby boys (rats) are the size of mice, and I picked them up about 3 days ago. One of them is super rowdy and he always tries to get out of the bathtub. He actually jumped out of the bathtub today, and he makes me really anxious. I built them a 4 foot tall cardboard playpen, but he dug under the cardboard. I need to spend time with them but I don't know how :/

I used a tent for mine. I just set it up in my house and closed it that way they can’t jump out

@coronaradiata30654 жыл бұрын
Two rats are fine, but if you want to be better than just fine, get three or more.
@MyPerfectMischief4 жыл бұрын
Three is more ideal than two, but two is okay if you can’t get three. Having only one is not acceptable, though. (I know you weren’t asking about one)
@fireplace78943 жыл бұрын
If this is your first time I’d suggest two just Bc three are a lot more work than two, however if you’ve dealt with rats before three is ideal

Emi, Ive git two questions: 1st- Ive gotten my mice many different treats, but they still refuse to eat any of them when I give it to them, and when I put them in their cage they dont favor them, but only treat it like food mix, do you know what Im doing wrong or why my mice are being like this? (Ive had my mice for about a month now) 2nd- My mice still have extra wet, smelly, and sometimes yellow or green poo, especially when Im holding them, and they have been on the same food since I got them, is this normal? If not, whats wrong?

She made a post about this earlier but if you didn’t see it she basically said that she doesn’t have time to answer everyone’s questions and that people with questions should ask on forums for help. If your looking for a forum I recommend this one: mouse-forum.proboards.com

I remember my first guinea pig, I was probably 9 when I got her, she had a small cage but she so loyal and trained, she rarely ever in her cage, she would be on the floor of my room an sleeping on my laundry 😅, she was adventurous one, she went everywhere with me, she only in her cage is at night or when I'm in school, she lucky at the time there was no dogs besides a friendly/dumb cat, so she would follow me anywhere! If she still here, she would be 12 this Yr, she died at 7? She fell ill, my 2 girls now have c&c cage, fleece bedding, when I was ordered them new home my second guinea pig, I got her after Princess died(I didn't know guinea pigs need a friend), Princess just lucky along with pip squeak to have my full attention, the two youngily had met pip, now their 3 and 4 this yr, one of this is a trouble maker...

i got a question. cause i noticed you use a large cage, but it's not that high. Is it cause it's more dangerous for mice then rats? or is it just you like these kinda cages better for mice
@Emiology3 жыл бұрын
In proportion to the size of the mice, this cage is probably just as high for them as the rat cage is to the rats. For both species floor space is more important :)

Hi! I don't recommend tanks for any rodents, ammonia can really build up in them, they need fresh air to push it away that a tank just doesn't provide even with a screen top. To answer your question though, popsicle sticks, boxes, toilet paper or paper towel tubes, you can stuff treats and cardboard inside the roll to make forage toys, you can put a half roll of TP on a string and hang it up for them to chew/nest in, any old sheets or blankets can be sewn up into hammocks or nesting blankets.

This is a quick ask to everyone out there- has anyone got any experiences putting a PetPlanet Rat & Ferret Cage together? It seems like a great cage, but I just want a few tips on putting the top to the bottom (..it's a bit round peg, square hole) Experiences and tips please. Thanks!

@rutabegagrrl96574 жыл бұрын
It can be bad for them if they have a lot of sunlight, especially streaming into their hides and hammocks. Personally I have a towel over my cage to protect them

I just found a pet youtuber in my recommended named kristenleannimal. She has a lot of pets including some rats, and first I was kind of wary because of her cage setup, which was not the best, but then I saw she had a video on bathing her rats, and after watching it, I'm pretty upset. She seems to have a pretty large following (184K subscribers) and think it would be great for you to do a video on her. I don't know about how to properly care for any of the other exotic pets she has, but going off of how she cares for her rats, though there are certainly people out there who have done far worse, I suspect there are issues there as well (so this could even be a collaborative effort with some other pet youtubers) she seems to care about her pets a lot, and so I think it's especially important for someone to directly address this and help her and her followers see how to better care for their rats.
@Emiology4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there seems to be a lot of concerning things about the way she cares for the rest of her animals including bathing her hamster in listerine, over handling amphibians etc , a lot of people have tried to bring it up to her on Twitter but she’s very dismissive 🙈
