So she's sick in this concert and still pulled out an incredible performance. Floor is truly a consummate pro. Thanks for the reaction Chase, I'd never noticed that psycho bit! Slaying the Dreamer has a special place as the first Nightwish song I ever heard, courtesy of a piece of artwork I encountered on Elfwood (yes it was that long ago!) and I loved it. Racing off to get all their back catalogue. It wouldn't be until I went to uni and started meeting people who wanted to go to gigs that I got to see them live and I'd made my peace with never seeing slaying the dreamer live as it's a pretty obscure song on their back cat (compared to say Romanticide) . THEN they did the decades performance at Wembley and pulled this out. I went NUTS. It is SO good live and I was so happy to hear it. Husband was laughing his head off at me during the whole song because I was headbanging and bouncing like a loon.

Another older song from "Century Child" in 2002. Obviously a Tarja song. Quite an over the top ending. Always something different. Great job Chase. I think you are correct about the "Psycho" comment. Tuomas uses this dissonant stab technique in a few songs to create that "something about to happen" anticipatory vibe. He is extremely focused on creating anticipation and signaling changes to his compositions by using many different techniques. I feel this is why his musical arrangements create such emotionally moving soundscapes. Loved it as always my friend. I look forward to both your next one as well as the videos to come with Julia. I've always said Floor and Nightwish are perfect match. But to my own surprise wathing End of an Era again now I think I might agree with you in this one, or at least call it a draw :-) I respect Tarja as a singer - I just don't usually like her style, but on Slaying the Dreamer in End of an Era video she sounds great and is really into music (not waving to crowd like to kids in a merry-go-around as in some songs...) Her voice cuts through hard which sounds great, complemented with headbanging and attitude - nice! I like both versions a lot, Floor gives it more emotions as always, Tarja shows her best sides. My favourite song from Tarja.
