Wow, I've watched many, many, many reactions to Ren's songs and I've never seen anyone catch as many details in the Tales as you did. Loved it! I never noticed Violet's name on the bed and none of the reactors I've watched have either. I hope you will go further down the Ren rabbit hole - he has so much great music. If you do, I'm here for it for sure!

Excellent reaction. I normally don't like pauses but yours were appropriate. These three songs are pure genius. Jenny was a street walker at 14 years old, a prostitute, and these songs were inspired by a news story Ren read about a 14 year old boy who stabbed a prostitute in London. He used his fertile imagination to fill in the details. All three were filmed and recorded live with no edits. Ren specializes in such mastery. You are very perceptive and noticed so many tiny details many others miss. You asked about Ren making movies. He is in the process of making a deal with Netflix where he intends to direct his own movies. Now, that is something for us all to look forward to. Thank you for reacting to Ren.

You said you wish you could see him perform live. Well, you can sorta, the next best thing. He was in a band for 5 years called The Big Push. They disbanded last Fall because Ren was coming to Canada for extensive treatment and they all wanted to work on some projects during that time. There are many videos of them ‘busking’ (aka street performing ). They also made music videos and wrote some original content as well as doing a lot of covers. When you watch their videos, especially their busking videos, you will see a whole new series of talent levels. The entire band is immensely talented and play multiple instruments and they all sing. When you watch their busking videos and see the excitement of the crowd, it is easy to feel like you are there. Many people like to first send reactors to The Big Push: I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop. Next up: I would say do their busking one of Paint it Black (the Rolling Stones Cover). Watch Out (live busking). - it’s one of their originals Englishman in New York. - this is not busking What Kind of Woman is This live. - it’s not busking Dignity. - it’s an original with a neat behind the scenes video of them. Ren has older content from before he was with The Big Push. Some great stuff. Also cool to see and hear a younger Ren. He was also briefly with a small band called Trick the Fox. His collaborations are all top notch. Content with Sam Tompkins should be high on one’s list. It’s all good. A favorite of many is a video of Ren and Sam busking where they sang Earned It/Man’s World/Falling. FYI, Ren sort of discovered Sam and gave the kid his start. Now Sam has been signed to open for Justin Bieber. He did it once but now Justin wants him to do the whole tour I believe. Collaborations with Chinchilla are pretty hot too. Of course, it goes without saying, check out REN’s solo content. It is a great variety of content. Ren is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get. Cry, laugh out loud, jaw drop, or even ??? - you just never know and I’m down for all of it!

Great reaction to an incredible trilogy of one-take songs. I love the way in Violet's Tale, he rewinds on the guitar tells us how she got to be hospitalised, then wings back on the guitar to the exact same "London City far from pretty 2005" point in time. The Ren rabbit hole is a real joy with superb detours into collabs (Chinchilla, Eden Nash, Sam Tomkins) and his former band: The Big Push. Enjoy exploring as much as I have!

That bit he plays at the beginning of Violet with the fast fretboard tapping sounds like pain. It's the guitar imitating the sharp sting followed by the ripples of pain through the body as violet is laying in a hospital bed. Then theres the singing right after which to me sounds like sadness, crying.

14:20. The line "It's such a shame", mirrors the tone of statements from the UK authorities and media, in the aftermath of similar tragedies. In the US they would probably substitute "...thoughts and prayers", while at the same time refusing to acknowledge the real problems, or developing policies to prevent these things happening.

There's a rumor of why Ren is currently in Los Angeles. Well he said it's for a little getaway and time off from treatment then he recorsed and released a acoustic version of his song Murderer and it's even better than the original. BUT Ren had mentioned a few months ago that him and Sam his cinematographer got so much positive feedback about the Tales and they should have a show on Netflix and he said that they had recorded a pilot episode and they were wanting to pitch the idea to Netflix with and if they picked it up they had another five episodes ready to be filmed with future episode concepts already being worked on. So there's a possibility that's why Ren was really in Los Angeles. Time will tell. But Ren said if the show ever worked out he would want to have other up and coming or established artists doing their own tales and doing it in one take also.

'Sick Boi' is short almost a follow on to 'Hi Ren' shot in the same location, it gives some clues to Ren's illness, misdiagnosis of his Lyme disease, and the poor medical care that caused many of his problems. It segues into more social commentary that you can see in his releases of 'Money Game part I' and especially 'Money Game part II.' "Suic*de' and 'For Joe' deals with his long-time childhood friend, which also explains the title of his first album 'Freckled Angels.' Very nice catch on the bed end clipboard, nice reaction video, well done in how you set things up in your studio, position of the video, good quality audio and video and bits of post production work.

Ren call this style Bardcore (like the bard Jaskier in The Witcher but in modern times) and here's the origin story of the trilogy 🤩😁🤯 This wasn't originally a trilogy story. Ren read in the paper one day a small article about a 14 yr old boy killing a young prostitute with a knife in an attempted robbery. Knife crime had been skyrocketing in London at this time. Later that same evening the boy had been shot and killed by the police who were searching the general area for a murder suspect. It disturbed him, so he set out to write a commentary not just on senseless violence, but on how desensitized we've become to it. The words he ends both Jenny and Screech's Tales with is "It's such a Shame" we say these words all to often and just move on, without a second thought. The the lead inspector at the scene said " So Young, It's such a shame". Violets Tale was written over 2 years later adding yet another layer of commentary by Ren. He wanted us to consider not only generational violence but to make us look at all angles of society that we turn a blind eye to. Both characters are born out of violence on that one cruel night of Violets murder and then both children killed with brutal violence on the same night 14yrs later. Also, his lyrics have even more meaning when you read in between the lines. For example he doesn't say what Jenny was doing or why she wanted to escape from this place & life, or why Screech thought she was older saying at Patrick's door "I left this lady lying on the floor" yet she was his age. Could it be the way she's dressed & probibly heavy makeup as well? Also why is a 14yr old girl out so late at night alone in a sketchy area wearing high heels & that "she's walked these floors a thousand times before" everything points to Jenny being an underage prostitute, showing us what Ren writes has reason & makes us think to fill in the gaps. There's no fat on the bone, every word is weighed & has meaning. Also, how can both these siblings be so cursed? Jenny has the same traits as her mother Violet, quiet, voiceless, and timid. Whereas Screech mirrors his father Stevie in every way, Loud, obnoxious, and easily prone & provoked into violence. They didn't know one another and had never met their biological parents. What made these kids so much like their parents? Was it simply Nature, inherited traits due to their genetic make-up OR Nurture, being brought up in the broken governmental system filled with, mistreated & in many cases, abused children in many foster care situations? He organically takes us on this journey, leaving us to think that we should be doing better job in this so called "advanced, wealthy, 1st world society. I' loving your Ren reactions, they can't come out fast enough. Cheers 🥂.

SO much to take in with this brilliant Shakespearean tragedy. I get frustrated with some reactions when it's missed how he describes Jenny....why would a 14 year old be walking the same street a 1000 times, in high heel shoes? Almost no one seems to catch that. Did you? Also, for "Screech's Tale", it seems that almost no one catches that Screech's girlfriend and his friend Patrick, happen to be "busy", or not available, at the same time. Consider why. Maybe they were together? Patrick wasn't home...was he with Screech's girl at her place and that's why she was "busy"? It adds a whole other layer to the story. Also consider that Jenny and Screech were born side by side, and essentially died side by side, one street apart. Born on the same day (2005), died on the same day (2019). An entire family, mother and twins that never knew each other, wiped out by a cycle of violence. An abused mother, a 14 year old prostitute, and a 14 year old thug/murderer. There's sheer brilliance in the line "please let my baby stay alive"....at this point you don't yet know that it's twins, but "baby" followed by "stay" can also be read as "babies" because the S in "stay" isn't necessarily separate from "baby". Say it out loud- you'll understand what I mean. Such a clever way to hide the twist reveal while still giving it up at the same time...if you can catch it. Brilliant.Powerful stuff. In "Violet's Tale", the way he uses the acoustics of his environment to accentuate the song is absolute brilliance....and btw, Ren is self taught on the guitar. Just one of many instruments he plays including drums, bass, & piano. The man is truly special. A prodigy. From what I understand, he wrote the first 2 songs after reading an article about a very young man murdering a young woman in London, he didn't write "Violet's Tale" until a few years later and that one was of his own making. He said that there are 2 songs so far that he wrote, that he knew in his gut were special. "Hi Ren" (of course) and "Violet's Tale". (He was right on both counts imo.) He also said he feels like he has a 3rd one ("Money Game" 3) that fits that same feeling coming out with his new album. He has yet to release it or shoot the video. It's coming soon.
