Basically Bellinghams last minute overhead kick just saved Southgate his job and didn't mean anything else. Rather lose to Slovakia than lose another final, shambolic. I'm a Liverpool fan, i've seen finals being lost, but I've seen Klopp saying 'We will come back stronger' and getting to the next final and winning it. Seeing Southgate manage England in comparison is like watching a championship team with the worlds best players who are fighting a relegation battle, with there drop back tactics and somehow making 2nd place all the time, it's embarassing. It’s not about player performances, it’s about instructions and discipline. If you aren’t performing well enough, you should get benched. It's not picking the wrong players, it's picking the wrong players for the wrong system. Kane is a brilliant player when you have fast wingers all around him feeding balls into the box. If he gets chances he will score, even if he is not fully fit. But England are not doing that, they just sit back and play anti-football and hope for a moment of magic. With the players we have, we could beat anyone in the world, but we need to be brave and play attacking football (like they do for their clubs). We played well for 10 mins after we went 1:0 down, until we equalised, then we sat back again and lost it, desrervedly so.

I really don't get how people r saying that Foden is the problem. The guy is constantly showing up and asking for a pass, but nobody tries to get the ball to him. In the beginning, he was played out of position, then when he got moved into his preferred position, Kane was dropping into his spaces, but instead of making little 1/2s with Foden, Kane kept trying to make a switch to the other side. Also, when Foden got the ball in those shooting ranges, where he is deadly, he didn't have the spaces to shoot cuz Kane didn't push the backline deep.

Honestly, I have to agree with Mark. England are incredibly lucky to be in the final, but sadly, england 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 were tactically masterclassed by Spain and we got good talent on the bench but was never used. It is honestly the same people used over and over and over again and playing in the positions that they do not preferred. E.g. Foden as a winger?? Yes, the subs did make an impact over the course of the tournament however England just need to find a system that works for them. The fa will want to keep him cos he is english and somehow got to the final. Not cos of him but players like jude saving his ass. 30 seconds away from going out to Slovakia btw. The english football core is to be all nicey nicey so they wont sack him he will probably walk as he wont cope with another tournament pressure. Kane is shocking in this style of play we have no runners in behind especially him. He suits bayern cos he links all their pacey runners and stands in the box and gets on the end of things. He is not the way forward for england no matter how many goals he has scored

You bringing up pacy wingers makes me think of the opposite end of the team ngl. If England had more defenders available instead of multiple attackers (unfortunately) just warming the bench/ playing for less than a quarter of a game for the entire tournament - 7 games, we could've used Walker's pace to create overlaps like that 1 chance in the first half, or even let Stones drive forward like he did ONCE, but we had no one to cover the space they left behind. tldr, I feel like the team selection screwed us from the start.

This may be a hot/ slightly ignorant take, but since Bellingham and Foden both want the central area, they both like to run around the pitch and do everything, why not just play them for 45 mins each? This has been a problem since the 1st game of the group stage, and Kane dropping back into the midfield constantly resulting in missed opportunities when balls are finally crossed into the box just makes this problem worse imo. If anything try it in 1 game of the group stage and bench whoever performs worse and designate them as a super sub? Freeing up slots for players that have just had their best seasons at their clubs like Bowen, Eze, Gordon, etc. instead of relying on the 90% of the same starting XI for all 7 games. I can see that Southgate does not know the definition of insanity.
