Are the characters good he says. Noone writes characters like Oda. I've never cried so much in my life. He gives more depth to one off characters you'll never see again than most authors struggle to give their main characters. He can make you hate or love anyone he chooses. One Piece will be taught in the future like Shakespeare is now. And yes, One Piece can be very dark. It does not shy away from deep hurtful real world issues. The overly cartoonish art style can be misleading. That being said it has many many hysterical moments as well.

One Piece is such a heart touching anime, the Author Eiichiro Oda tackles real world issues like racial discrimination, inequality, injustice, corrupt government, civil war and slavery. It can be life changing. Freedom. Emotions. Adventures. Friendships. One Piece is like a gift that offers all of this to you. You should watch the anime or read the manga when you are ready, for your own enjoyment. But the longer you put it off, the longer your sleeping on this truly magical fiction!

I know its REALLY LONG and need commitment but One Piece is really worth the watch/read I know you won't regret it and feel like you're the type of person who would notice the depth of the story Eiichiro Oda, the mangaka of One piece, really knows how to tell a story with different levels of comedy, tragedy, world building (Masterpiece), character development and so on. It's really fun to watch this as someone who's caught up on One Piece. Some of these places are a little generic or only played minor roles in the story, but so many others have instantly recognizable events tied to them. From something as small as the Whitebeard Flag at Foodvalten to all the shit that happened at The Coliseum or Drum Island. One of the greatest manga ever made. Even if you just read/watch it on your own time, I can't recommend it enough. If you have the patience for it, the story of One Piece is worth every page it takes to tell.

a lot of ppl say "i'll never watch it bc it's so long" but i wish more would stop right after and ask the question: i wonder why. there's a reason one piece has dominated the world of manga/comics literally since its debut. there has not been a single title that came close to the legacy it is making and the mark it's leaving on not only japanese story telling but overall in the world. it's the kind of story that also transcends its own medium - you literally don't have to be a manga fan and still, this story will 100% prove itself to you the moment you give it a try, for real. it doesn't matter how mainstream anime gets these days, it doesn't matter which anime and then consequently manga title gets to be the popular one each year -- one piece remains untouchable in all aspects of the breath of the story, the world, the journey it is taking the audience on. it's simply indomitable in my books not only as a manga, but a story in general.
@Steven-vp9wr

I don't actually see the pacing issues when you have the chance to see multiple episodes, I believe the main issue everyone complaints is because when you strip off the recaps, intros, etc each episode falls short in content some times, so in the case of most of us that watch on a weekly basis every episode seems just so far away from the other, yet I'm not saying there aren't some episodes that could just have been way shorter or that added unnecessary stuff but overall I don't feel it as bad as many people says, anyway just dropping my personal opinion here. I will love to see your One piece journey if you decide on reacting to it and even if you don't I hope you get to watch in your own time, 1000+ episodes might seem daunting yet as I said before when you strip that extra time per episode it is way shorter

It is pretty bad. Most anime don't hv 3 minutes opening and ending on top of a recap for 1 minutes for a 23 minutes full episode. This is before the time skip btw. Idk how it was now cause I've been manga reader only since marineford.
@madscientist14
@madscientist14 2 жыл бұрын
@@catastrofyy The first 280 eps had 3 minutes in total of op and ed, an avg of 20sec recap(sometimes there's no recap, sometimes theres a minute). The next 250 eps changed to no more ed, but op became 2minute 30sec, also about the same recap length avg maybe longer. The rest after the timeskip, only the recaps changed, and sometimes it would take like five minutes(including op) to get to new content. This was because, when you get far into the story arc the narrator liked to talk about where everyone is(on a map) and how far they are from each other, who's fighting who and all that jazz. I think they were useful, but was ultimately unnecessary to put in every single episode. *cough*dressrosa*cough*

How is the music in One Piece? Amazing. Some of the most well-done pieces in anime. And you have an idea of what's going to happen due to specific music. Early on it's finding it's setup. So some songs don't hit immediately, but later they fit perfectly.

A lot of people complain about the length but one piece is one of the most popular anime and quite literally with zero exaggeration the best selling manga of all time. Popular series are popular for a reason and it would be a damn shame if you missed out of this series, many regard it as peak fiction. Another "complaint" is the existence of filler but compared to other animes like Naruto or Bleach that have literally 40+% of filler, only around 9% of one piece is filler. Also regarding the crew hanging out or just doing whatever between destinations or just sailing during episodes it's very rarely considered filler in the slightest. Also one piece is the furthest thing from a constantly "happy go lucky" series as some of the more slice of life animes can be, there are plenty of dark and mature themes including absolutely not limited to racism, human trafficking, slavery, genocide, propaganda, corruption, human experimentation, war profiteering, existential crises, drug use, eugenics, justice, oppression and that's just to name a few. The show can very much be a happy adventure about pirates sailing around the whole world searching for the One Piece, but in my opinion it eclipses just about every other story out there and the length is honestly a strong point for the series because you wouldn't be able to have such a compelling and realistic narrative without developing the characters just as much as the world around them. If you never watch One Piece that's your decision but from me and the rest of the community you are without a doubt missing out.

The problem with one piece filler is not "episode filler" are scenes that get stretched beyond need. Many shots of silence, random people in the street, many stare downs. They take a 10 pages and stretch on 2 episodes. However, some of the scenes are really worth watching in the anime so my recommendation is to mainly read the manga, it has fenomenal pacing and have your followers suggest wich of the scenes are good to react on the anime and react to that clip specifically.

As a fictional world, it's really quite the spectacle. Within the grand line itself, there are many civilisations, foreign lands, and customs. As an audience, you will be pulled in by observing the artwork and effort that's been pulled into the geography of One Piece. I bet many real explorers would want to go out on similar adventures with this story. That is, if it were a reality.

I'll put it in context you can get. That's 10 pretty good anime that you're watching instead of One Piece. Each arc is essentially a new seasonal anime that is the number 1 must watch of the season. And its worth it. I got my friend hooked on it, and he really fought me on it for a while because he doesn't like pirate anything. It's now in his top 5 favorite shows of all time. Eichiro Oda really went beyond tossing out a fighting shounen anime/manga. This is an epic that you need to watch. I would say, on your own, by yourself no chat, no youtube reaction, watch the first season (about 50 episodes) and see how you feel about it. Because if you aren't in by the end of the first season, show isn't for you. Do a binge and see what you think. Because its a commitment to watch this series. And then you can do a vid "I watched the first season of One Piece here's my thoughts" and One Piece fans will eat that shit up.

This dude was asking so many good questions that can only be answered by saying "just watch!" Except you shouldn't weigh the sacrifice of watching 10 mid-level anime against a single one. Those 10 other anime only wish they were One Piece, and their imitation is evident. I've seen so many, and none of them keep the freshness of theme and story, nor the familiarity and intimacy of the characters you instantly fell in love with in the prologue. One Piece simply transcends it's medium. A guaranteed classic in literature and entertainment. So while you may consider the 1000+ chapter/episode grand saga to be intimidating now, but after reading, the only thing "intimidating" will be that 1000+ chapters just isn't enough, and that the end may be too soon.

yes the animes been runing for 23 years so the art and animation sytle has changed and aged. the mangas siting at 1053 chapters, animes at 1025 episodes and both of them are completly worth it, would recomed manga if it imtimidating as its your own pace and you dont have to dedicate 23 mintes at a time to get through it, totally depends on how fast you can read.

The most interesting about one piece is that its all base on real life history , myth , legend , the character names in one piece are all base on real life people and things.

I would recommend if you are interested in One Piece, either read/watch a story arc and discuss it or wait until the Live Action comes out next year and give that a watch. Though if you watch it on your channel, plenty of people will watch. You just need to be firm about watching at your own pace and not let people try to push you to catch up quickly.

It’s not only unique islands and creatures. There are hundreds of characters and all of the characters are unique. There’s not one character looks similar and they don’t look like normal humans to their even Fishman mermaids, giants animal people it’s crazy and everything with the beautiful world of one piece makes such a beautiful anime and the fights just to get more and more incredible as the show goes I would totally recommend you watch it. I have watched it and now I’m depressed because I finished it but the anime is not done. They just still working on it after you start watching it you won’t wanna stop.😂 it really shows how beautiful the world can be but Anna crazy way you totally have to see the openings of the show the music is amazing to, and I’ll just start doing music in the middle of the show randomly😂

btw one piece doesn’t really have that high of a filler ratio, it has like 9% filler but that’s still around 100 episodes

Fun fact: The One Piece mangas rating on MAL keeps rising and at the pace it is going it will overtake SBR in about 1 year (if Wano ramps up the heat even further it may happen even earlier).

here is my personal (no spoiler) review about one piece, I went through a couple important aspects of a show so if you are interested here you go. the animation has increased throughout the series but is not as good as some shows so that would be like 7/10 the story is incredible and rarely if ever contradicts itself, almost feels like the creator had every single plot point already planned from the beginning so its 10/10 you can already see the worldbuilding 10/10 the characters are incredible, out of the over 1000 episodes and hundreds of characters, the author does an incredible job of making you love characters that he wants you to love and hate characters he wants you to hate. almost every important character has a backstory that always makes total sense and can make you feel any emotion the author wants you to feel. They are some of the best characters I have ever seen 10/10 the soundtrack is very good and never feels overused, but only a few songs are ones you would want to listen to outside of watching the show so 8/10 as I said in the characters section, the villains are great too, but a lot falls under the category of being evil for the sake of being evil/greedy. this is different for some of the more important villains and some have an incredible backstory that makes you feel sad to see them defeated. probably an 8.5/10 for villains in terms of comedy, I find the show incredibly funny. all the characters have a unique personality which works very well whether the mood is serious or funny. the show itself is very light-hearted with some very sad moments sprinkled throughout. I haven't watched a ton of anime but out of all the ones I have seen this is easily one of the best for comedy. I do deduct a point due to a fart joke happening every now and then (it's rare but still) 9/10 the main issue with the anime is the pacing, which means like instead of the viewer remembering a part in a character's backstory the show just replays like 4 minutes of that backstory to refresh you on it even though it was like 2 episodes ago, also some scenes are drawn out where you get like a close-up reaction shot of every character when something surprising happens. But that is really the only thing that is seriously wrong with one piece and entirely the animation studio's fault. 3/10 lastly, the voice acting is very good. the sub fits the characters better and has lots of passion without sacrificing comedy, but the dub does sound strange at times but has better comedic value than the sub, but it is incomplete. personally, I watch the sub because it never feels strange but watching clips of comedic scenes is hilarious in conclusion, it has a couple of flaws but I can confidently say it is my all-time favorite anime/show and I don't think that will change. the biggest issue is the pacing but honestly, when I watched it I never found it to be a huge issue but now that I am caught up and only watching it weekly (it comes out on Sunday every week) I can definitely notice the issue with pacing. If you really think pacing would be a huge issue to you then I recommend the manga but to me, it is definitely worth it to watch the anime. I cannot recommend it enough and I'm not trying to force you, just if you wanted an idea of an average viewer's opinion then here you go. :)

I'd recommend reading it over watching it if you're worried about time. It's better anyway 95% of the time, and the pacing isn't a problem. Plus no filler or extended recaps.

The gigantic event is a war that Oda said will be one of the if not the biggest war arc in manga(all mangas not just one piece since one piece had two war arcs so far)so far that will include the entire world of one piece and all of it's people, and yes the show can get really dark and tackles a lot of real life issues but keeps its sense of humor and adventure

Summary of the plot of One Piece: " Wealth. Fame. Power. Gold Roger, the King of The Pirates, obtain this and everything else the world had to offer, and in his dying words drove countless souls to the seas. " You want my treasure? You can have it! I've left everything I gather together in one place! Now you just have to find it!" These words drove men to the Grand Line in search of dreams they've never dead to imagine. Thus, became a time known as the great pirate era. 22 years later, a boy named Monkey D. Luffy, whose body turn to rubber after eating the Gum-Gum Fruit, set sailed with his ever-growing and faithful crew to become the next King of The Pirates.

Characters in OP looks ridiculous, I do agree. But when u got introduced to hundreds or maybe thousands (i'm didn't count), those weird character traits actually helps especially some of the characters are not one-off. The weird hat guy featured in many episodes. As many others too.

You should consider checking out the videos “The appeal of One Piece: Where to start” and “why you should watch/read one piece” by super eyepatch wolf. Both videos are well done, informative and entertaining with plenty to react to without being to spoilery due to lack of context. They also help explain why it’s worth the 1000+ episode commitment

Reading is definitely way faster. I actually know someone personally who had so much freetime during pandemic that he caught up to the one piece manga in 2 weeks. I recommend to savor the series though don't try to rush it because it's a series of layers and layers and you'll miss a lot of details if you rush.
