As a 53 year old black man, Ice alright with me. This song was the ish back in the late in my late teens/early 20's. He used to open for McHammer. His record label made a fool of him. Everyone was sampling music, but they made an example of him. Every white rapper after Ice owes him some respect, because he helped white rappers become more accepted. Saw him at a Boys2Men concert, and the place went crazy.

The song came out in 1990. The "chorus" you're referring to is from "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie. Give that a listen and you'll hear it immediately. There was a big controversy over it and Vanilla Ice had to settle out of court for the right to it. Yes, it was very popular. Ice said himself recently that it's sold over "half a billion" copies.

Holy Cow, when this came out on the radio I was dancing through the house!!! This and Can't Touch This where so massive back then. You have no idea unless you were there!! Hah, and even now at 50, I can still sing along with this song word for word. I remember it still!! Growing up through the 80's we have the best music life. We had the 70's in our back pocket, 80's current and discovering new sounds, with the 90's up ahead. Man I miss when new music coming out was that exciting!!

He wrote that when he was 16 years old, it released when he was 19 i think. the dancers in the video were his dance crew, it was interesting how he got this published, he was dancing somewhere in a club he snuck into using fake ID. (His older brother’s) About 6 or more “”agents”” were on him wanting to hire him as a dancer and one card he kept and talked to they asked if he could do singing or something and he i guess rapped this song and they were like your hired. This was on the B side even though its like his biggest most heard/sampled song. On the main side was play that funky music. He and MC hammer were/are huge friends. He still does music concerts in amongst all his other businesses. He loves architecture and has his own renovation show on diy network doing luxury Florida homes. He owns a mortgage company in several states, he has his hands in many businesses. If he wasnt also a musician he would be an outright business tycoon, and he is,.. just he’s also a rapper. He had a tough time growing up and if you get the chance to listen to him speak on what this song means you look at it differently. He uses music as a diary, and really each song is a journal entry. He also was in the time of Tupac and can speak of him. Very cool intellectual guy. As he said back in the day when he came out he never considered himself a white rapper,.. he says a rapper is a rapper colour isnt part of it. He approaches rap as poetry. So really, he is a poet. It freaks me out he wrote that as a 16 year old. I think he is still the top person to have the most sold albums for one of his records. Through it all he remains humble, excited for life, curious as a kitten, loyal and friendly.

When it came out, it was a big hit and everyone was singing it. The tune you here in the intro is from queens song Under Pressure... They ended up touring vanilla ice with MC Hammer and the record label wanted to to change things with ice while on tour as he went and by the end of the tour they had ice dressing like hammer instead of being himself.
