"Turd is not disgusting" - Cody Ko for Indian Prime Minister
@FirstnameLastname-zq8oy5 ай бұрын
Crazy how racism against indians is so normalised online. I wonder if you'd ever make a similar racist comment about other ethnicities, or if you only feel comfortable saying racist shit about Indians / south asian people. Im assuming you're referring to the stereotype that Indians shit in the street. Literally any part of the world where there is extremely uncontrolled overpopulation and insufficient plumbing infastructure to support that population (i.e. overpopulated & impoverished parts of the world), there are poor people shitting in the streets because those people living in poverty dont have the facilities take a dump anywhere else, that issue is not specific to India and is a problem in overpopulated cities of third world countries in general. Yall act like Indians prefer shitting in the street or something, or that Indians in general (including Indians who have toilets / proper plumbing at home) shit in the street, when its specifically Indians in serious poverty in extremely overpopulated areas doing that. Indians who dont live in poverty dont shit in the street, and in the parts of India where there isnt rampant overpopulation and comparitively less poverty, people dont shit in the streets.

^before anyone comes at me for yapping, yes im yapping but thats because these types of comments implying Indian people are gross, dirty, disgusting, unhygienic etc. are so normalised online, so I want to properly explain why its racist.

A homeless man said Noel did something bad! He had no proof just kinda said it but I’m upset they aren’t talking about it😡
@FirstnameLastname-zq8oy5 ай бұрын
Not saying cody did it (im choosing to remain neutral at the moment), HOWEVER, you're clearly intentionally downplaying how serious the current situation is. "Doing something bad" is the vaguest phrasing in the world, theres a BIG difference between being accused of "doing something bad" vs being accused of a serious crime, and it makes complete sense why people would expect a public figure to respond to an accusation about them committing a serious crime. Also, a random person (e.g. an unknown homeless guy) accusing a public figure of something will obviously hold significantly different weight compared to a former colleague who personally knows the public figure, and has interacted with them multiple times in the past, accusing them of something. In the hypothetical situation you presented, we would have no idea if that homeless guy has even met Noel before, whereas in this situation the accuser has worked with cody before and clearly isnt a random stranger. Additionally, statutory r*pe is notoriously very difficult to prove, most victims dont have proof ESPECIALLY if it happened multiple years ago and the victim only realised how fucked up it was when they got older. Again, not saying the accusations are definitely true, but my point is that even IF they are true, it is very unlikely that she would have proof of it anyway unless she recorded it or something lol. To be crystal clear, Im not saying we should automatically believe every statutory r*pe allegation just because theyre very difficult to get proof for, but that doesnt mean its right to completely ignore these accusations either. Lets say, hypothetically, an adult you know has been accused of statutory r*pe of a teenager they knew. Im not saying you should immediately believe it, but it would be odd for the accused person to refuse to talk about the accusation to people asking them about it, not even to deny it.
@FirstnameLastname-zq8oy5 ай бұрын
At the end of the day, the people in Cody's audience support his career, so they have every right to expect the person they have been supporting to address a serious issue involving him. Making no effort to deny a serious accusation, and instead choosing to intentionally ignore it and hope that it goes away, doesnt seem open / transparent and doesnt feel like something one would do in good faith. However, at the same time, Cody is the co-owner of a company and also has a kid now, so its understandable why he'd be extremely hesitant to publically address it due to the future implications that drawing attention to it could have on his company and his kid, even if he is innocent. Also, because he's being accused of a legit crime, he might have been advised by a lawyer to not say anything about it publically, even if he is innocent. All around, its just a difficult shitty situation, but you trivialising it through innaccurate comparisons, and insinuating people are dumb for understandably wanting a response and understandably being dissapointed that they arent getting one, is not helping.

@@FirstnameLastname-zq8oy "it would be odd for the accused person to refuse to talk about the accusation to people asking them about it" I think that's a pretty normal reaction if the accusation is bunk. You gotta remember that Cody's audience is a bunch of young people who crave gossip and drama, any attempt to respond to the accusation is just going to fan the flames. Ignoring it is a much more rational approach, assuming there isn't any good evidence against him.
@isaaccmp45 ай бұрын
It doesn’t really matter who’s making the accusations. The main thing (for me at least) is cody not responding to the situation. If someone publicly claims you did something, and instead of addressing it, you just pretend like it didn’t happen and limit/delete comments, ur pretty much indirectly admitting fault. But at the same time, he’s 50% of a multi million dollar company, and addressing something like that (even if it isn’t true) will only bring bad press, which will effect their pockets. But again, if someone accuses you of something like that, and you just ignore it and hope it goes away, you’re indirectly admitting guilt.
