Fun fact. The objection section of weddings was not originally for personal reasons but legal ones. Back in the day information was harder to gather and "drifters" would come into towns to start new lives. Generally the objections were things like 'he is already married and therefore this marriage is not legal' or 'he is lying about his identity' type of thing. It is also why pending marriages were often put in papers so people (like abandoned wives) could travel or send representation to object.
@derponАй бұрын
In the UK it is still a legal requirement to have both the banns printed and read (if marrying in church or religious institution) and also for the line to be read during the ceremony.

They still read marriage banns at our church for a few weeks leading up! It's usually a "pray for these people as they prepare for marriage," thing, but they do still ask for objections in the ceremony. In modern times, it does still serve as a "safety check" for legal reasons, but also for people to speak up if one of the partners isn't entering the marriage freely (abuse, coercion, etc).

I have a friend who is a serial cheater. She is on her third marriage. The previous one ended with her cheating with a married man (Quélle surprise!) and the one before that when they discovered that when things aren't working out, a marriage isn't going to fix it. Before that she cheated on several boyfriends. It appears that now that she has squeezed out three kids her eye is off the game, but I 100% believe that once those kids get a little older, she is going to cheat on her current husband. Sucks for him, since he's a nice guy, but once a cheater, always a cheater.

Love the revenge. If following her example, get legal advice first, though! In many places she may have had problems with tenancy & divorce property matters so it pays to know your & their rights first. Then get petty without hurting yourself.

I had a WONDERFUL manager up until a few months ago when she was promoted (very happy for her, even though we miss her, we were all super happy to see her move up) but she was kind, she listened to our needs, she made sure we weren’t spread too thin, etc. Our new manager however… not horrible don’t get me wrong, but when you do have an experience with such an amazing manager in contrast to what you currently have, it really highlights how rare it is to find someone who is truly fit for that position

I had the absolute best manager when i was working my old job in high school from like 15-20. He was literally the best. He always made sure i had the time off i needed (cause i was in high school) and made sure i wasn’t working too late so i could get my homework done, and he gave me rides home when i needed them. Literally the best manager ever. I got harassed one day while working and he let me stay at the main desk we worked at and went and did my job while I did the stuff at the desk (that i could do being that i couldn’t fully do his job) i couldn’t have asked for a better manager. I will always remember everything he did for me. I moved away from there about 4 years ago and he now has a better job at the same company. He really does deserve it.

My current manager is actually really caring and supportive. She makes me feel appreciated and valued and will work with me to find solutions if I have an issue. It's the complete opposite of how I was treated at my previous job. That manager made me feel horrible about myself and was so passive-aggressive towards everyone.

I just want to throw it out there that there are good managers (so you definitely don’t have to put up with shit like this)!! Every boss/manager I had during my summer uni days were spectacular. Communicated well, taught me, helped me fix any mistakes and not yell at me, etc plus just being genuinely good people you like hanging with at the staff parties. Love them!

OK, good manager story here because I absolutely must give him all the love in this world. I was working for a very popular TX grocery store in their curbside department. At the same time, my mother was going through chemo and it was not looking good. I was a wreck most days trying to pull it together for the much needed paycheck. However, this didn't go unnoticed by my manager. He got the full story out of me and immediately started accommodating me in any way possible. Straight up told me that if I wake up in the morning and feel like I just can't go in, or if I need to drop everything and run 2 hours away to my mom's side at any time, I should let him know asap and he would make sure my shift was covered and no penalties would be giving to me for missing so much work. This was a HUGE help in letting me be there for my mom until the day she passed away. After which, he gifted me a big plant from the whole team and presented me with a huge group hug when I returned. Best man in the world, hands down. Thank you, Andrew, from the bottom of my heart. My family to yours.❤
