I had jasmine green tea, too! Also, I agree on the whole "sex life being private" thing. So much of social media creates this sense of almost un-earned familiarity - like you said, you talk to us like friends in your videos, but if we met IRL, you would probably talk to us like strangers - so there's this lack of boundaries that can be really damaging. I'm glad that you actually do have boundaries based on your own comfort, not on your audience's entertainment. That probably sounded super weird, sorry!

The BEST way to read LOTR is on audio!! Just beautifully read, easier to listen through all the details, poems, songs, wonderful dialogue.... it feels more like an old tale that should be shared orally... I read it on audible and used my credit each month for each book! You’ll honestly love it and at the end you’ll feel like you’ve been on the journey with the characters. 😄
@mallory13044 жыл бұрын
What narrator did you listen to? I tried to reread them as audiobooks recently and I got the Rob Inglis versions (the only ones I saw that weren’t “dramatized productions,” which I expect I would find incredibly annoying), but I just find him to be a HORRIBLE narrator! I haven’t even gotten through chapter 2 of the Hobbit yet and it’s been at least a month. I agree that they should be beautiful as an oral tale, but it’s just the WRONG narrator imo, and since they’re still protected by copyright I haven’t found any other versions.

If you find LOTR too much to read, but want a similar story, The Inheritance Cycle (aka the Eragon series) by Christopher Paolini has been described as a medieval fantasy LOTR meets Star Wars. It was written much more recently than LOTR so the writing style may be more comfortable to read. There was a movie (Eragon) made out of it in 2006(ish?) but it wasn't very faithful to the books. Like the Council of Elrond is to LOTR, the training of Sapphira the dragon is a big point in which the plot quickly develops. (I only mention this because in the movie Sapphira matures into a full-fledged adult-dragon instantaneously in a thunderstorm while book-Sapphira was raised into a teen-dragon over a longer period of time in the first book and so it takes a few chapters to get to the action/adventure part of the plot, but it's worth it!) Book 1: Eragon Book 2: Eldest Book 3: Brisingr Book 4: Inheritance

@mallory13044 жыл бұрын
Honestly... it gets harder to get through as the book(s) go on. :/ I trudged along as best I could and finally got too stuck to continue at the Battle of Helm’s Deep (maybe halfway through the second volume), but I was determined to read them, so I-gasp-watched the movies before I finished the series😩 it helped though and I was able to finish reading it! I want to reread them, and I thought it might be easier as an audiobook, but the narrator (Rob Inglis) is, in my opinion, *horrible*, and I haven’t even gotten through chapter 2 of the Hobbit this time around.

Reading them aloud was what did it for me... I have never been able to read them alone.
