Angelina's father died while singing at a performance, apologizing to his audience. Angelina was only 13 years old and was among the audience. I cannot even begin to imagine what went through her mind during those few minutes of masterful performance of a wonderful piece by her late father.

And if that was not traumatic enough, Pino's brother died the next day at the wake! I live in Basilicata where the Mango family is from, and where Pino was performing when he collapsed. Then the news the next day of his brother. The entire region was in mourning.

Angelina's father, Pino Mango, was not only a singer with an incredible voice, but was a true poet of Italian melodic and romantic song: yet, despite having participated 7 times in the Sanremo Festival, her father Pino Mango had never won . Her daughter, however, participated for the first time this year and triumphed by singing a song by her father "La rondine". I think from heaven above Pino Mango is now very proud of his daughter Angelina and that justice has been done!

Angelina sang a song by her father, Giuseppe (Pino) Mango, known simply as Mango, a very famous Italian singer who died during a concert when she was 13 years old. His brother died during the wake the next day so Angelina and her brother suddenly lost both their father and their uncle within two days in a traumatic way, it was a huge tragedy!

La Rondine (RON-dee-nay). is so touching by itself (the lyrics) but for her to sing to her father had me and all of Italy crying. If you listen to his version and then hers, it is amazing to hear and see the emotion that she is singing directly to her dad. Not only did he pass away during a performance, but his brother died the next day at the wake for Mango! Talk about tragedy in this family. Then her family moved to Milan, so she was uprooted during a period of grief, as well. (For the full background on her.) The lyrics - you're my rondine (swallow) flown away...where are you, where you?The only love I would relive, the same moon halved, you're in the wrong part of the sky (or could be translated 'in heaven by mistake' -cielo means sky but can also mean heaven, sbagliato means wrong, in error). Seriously, as one who has lost a mother, I wept during this song, you felt her emotion singing to her father. If you look online there is a sliced-together version of her singing and her father singing the song - simply touching.

Both her parents performed on that stage. Angelina's father as solo artist; the mother as front voice of Matia Bazar (after the first voice, Antonella Ruggero, left the group). The lyrics of the song are about a swallow (rondine) who's flown away, that's probably the reason she got so emotional. I unfortunately did not like this version that much.
