More Blue Oyster Cult! Many songs by BOC have more than one meaning which gives us the listener the ability to make the song ours. Fan of BOC since 1974 Must see them live to appreciate the 5 veteran musicians.

Lotsa guitar! It's an epiphany when one realizes that existence is the real nightmare!

Classic time shifts, reminiscent of 70’s BÖC “Before the Kiss a Redcap, Golden Age of Leather, The Vigil…Buck wrote this tune years ago, maybe that contributes to it seeming older. At its core, BÖC is a jam band, more concerned about the music than lyrics, never afraid to poke fun at the push from others to be serious about lyrical content. Nightmare Epiphany is one of my favorites from this triumphant return to the studio, after nearly 20 years. Even still, I prefer their live albums, and their live performances, having seen them over 150 times in 50 years. Always my fave band, Buck is the best.

I think it was about a shared nightmare that brings 2 very different high schoolers together, breaking down barriers and social norms.

But it was on the Buck Dharma archive compilation as a demo, so he could be talking about that

Kind of surprising. It sounds a lot more like traditional rock & roll tan I would’ve expected. I don’t think it would’ve been well received back in the 70s, though. The rhythms and strumming patterns had a real 1950s vibe. During the 70s that was more of a novelty or pop country thing. But you’re right, the lyrics do make it a bit of a homunculus. The music itself was a bit “fun” while lyrically it was really creepy. Great video and a GREAT QUESTION. 🤘🏻
