That was a group of hard-core old-school rockers doing what they do best. Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bonamassa team up for another song called Stone Cold. I reckon you'd like that one also.

Jimmy Barnes is lead singer of Cold Chisel, an Australian Band that's been around since the late 70's. Check out Flame Trees or Breakfast at Sweetharts.

The keyboard player is a specialiist in playing vintage organs. The drummer is Anton Fig of Paul Schaffer's band. The second guitar player formerly played rhythm guitar for Aerosmith, the bass player played in several bands but previously was primarily a session player for many top artists, mainly in Country music but also for people like Steve Winwood.

@@manonomusicman Most likely a box that makes a Leslie speaker type sound/effect. Easier than carrying a Big old Leslie speaker around. lol

This clip has already been one of my go-to favorites as the energy everyone brings to this great song by that great band is just off the scale - but it's a treat to feel like we're sharing the journey and the reaction together - thanks for this. All the players are not covering but more channeling and bringing their feel and love to this performance while still bringing in that great Purple feel and energy too. The only original member I miss while listening to this is Ian Paice on the drums as he always brought a unique feel and support of and service to the song - and I have nothing but great things to say about Anton Figs performance here which is amazing...it's just a feel thing. As much as I've always loved the incredible Ritchie Blackmore's guitar playing (when he really stuck to the playing and his tone rather than the showmanship), Joe Bonamassas performance, technique and feel is astounding. This whole performance by everyone leaves me drained and I had to remember to keep breathing while listening.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It's ridiculous how much I enjoyed sharing it with you. You may just turn out to be my new best friend. If you like Joe Bonamassa, I'm going to take a punt you like Stevie Ray Vaughan? His "cover" of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child" (live at the El Mocambo) is completely off the chart. SRV owns the song so much it's almost wrong to call it a "cover." He plays the guitar like he's taming a wild animal. Give it a go. I dare you.
@ThatGuy-bp4gz3 жыл бұрын
PS If you want to stick with Joe B. His cover of the Freddie King classic "Going Down" (Live at the Greek Theatre) is perhaps my favourite song by him.
@TomsMusicReactions3 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I love me some SRV! I have to agree, it's hard to call it a cover (even though it technically is)! Stevie Ray doesn't play guitar though, he beats it into submission!
